In the future...

Hibari stared at the little girl who remained attached onto his leg. He tried to move her a couple of times but no, she didn't badge at all.

''Suzume.'' He spoke in a low voice, not averting his gaze from her.

''Yes, daddy?''

''Let go.''

Suzume seemed to comply for a second , before tightening her hold against him.

Hibari had enough of her peculiar behaviour. Usually, his youngest daughter was shy and compliant but no , not today. With a steady hand he grabbed her by the neck and pulled her up so they could be on eye level.

''What's wrong?''

The little girl who wasn't even a bit suprised or scared by the way her father was holding her , looked at him straight in the eyes.

''Suzume no wants daddy get hut! (hurt)'' She explained , wiggling her tiny feet and pumping her small fists.

Hibari let out a sigh. With his two older children things were very different. When he was about to leave on a mission, they were greeting him with the phrase, ''Bite the herbivores to death, dear father!'', to which Kazumi would glare at him. A glare that seemed more like a pout. He would smirk at them and that was a promise that their father would return home safe.

But no, not with Suzume. The girl was always vocal about her worries for his well being. Just like her mother. A pure herbivore at heart. However, there were times when Kazumi would act like an omnivore. He didn't know how Suzume ended up a herbivore , he was sure that his genes would overpower those of his wife. At least that's what had happened with his older children.

Airi, his first child might be gentle and always polite , but she could kick almost anyone down. And how couldn't she? He was her personal trainer after all.

Kai, his only son was a replica of him in every sense of the word. The boy had started biting people to death when he was at kindergarden!

''Your father is too strong to get hurt Suzume and you know it.'' He said while setting her on the ground.

''You pwomise daddy?'' She was a little more persistent this time.

He let out a genuine smile shown on his face, one only his family was able to see, before answering.

''Yes, my little bird, I promise.''

''Bite them to death, dear father!'' Airi and Kai said at the same time. There was excitement in their voice , but they made sure not to shout. They were standing there during the whole time, waiting patiently for him to deal with their sister. Kazumi was there too.

He nodded, smirking at them.

''Come back to me , safe and sound.'' Kazumi whispered to him when they were alone at the door of their house.

Kyoya's hands held her more tightly.

''Don't I always?'' He whispered to her ear , giving a light kiss to her neck, a promise that this will be continued when he returns.

Then he claimed her lips in a goodbye kiss.

Kazumi checked her watch as it was time for her to start preparing to open her pastry shop in Palermo. She had named it 'Carino e Dolce' which translates to 'Cute and Sweet'. It was a name fitted, because she always tried to decorate her sweets in adorable ways.

Did she use the mafia's help just a little bit to manage to open it? Yes. Did she feel guilty for that? Nope. After all with Vongola's cloud guardian as her husband her life revolved around the mafia , even if Hibari insisted to hold a more independent position.

Anyway, even if she had Vongola's help , she still worked hard. After traveling in several places, fulfilling that way one of her major dreams, it was time to settle down and work on making reality her other one. 'Carino e Dolce' had an average number of customers everyday , making it easier for her to work. Because , she didn't know if she could manage to keep both the shop and be with her family. She would have to sacrifice it or spending time and caring for her loved ones and that was a dillemma she didn't want to make.

Anyway , one year after the opening she found herself pregnant with her first daughter , Airi. She was sure that she conceived her that night when he returned from a long mission and dragged her to their bedroom without uttering a word.

In addition to that, the way she had found out was strange, because technically it was Kyoya who informed her. She would never forget how he looked at the calendar and then seemed to calculate something , before turning to her and asked her to take a pregnancy test just to be sure. Because, there was no doubt in his mind that she was with child. Later when she asked him how he knew , he explained what he had seen that time the ten years bazooka hit him.

Kai's conception, three years later was a tale that she preferred to keep for herself. It was when some guys from a rival famiglia attemted to kidnap her. Fortunately , before even she had the time to feel scared , Hibari appeared seething with anger, an ominous aura surrounding him. She barely had time to blink before screams of pain and terror broke the silence and blood stained the street.

There was not a single feeling of remorce in her heart as she watched them suffering and begging for their lives. After what she's been through, she couldn't care less for lowlives like them.

And then Kyoya turned to look at her with foreign blood on his face and clothes , a malicious smirk on his handsome face, slowly approaching her. She felt a wave of excitement and awe embracing her whole being. In that moment they knew that there was no sleep for them that night. Luckily enough for them , Airi wasn't at home.

Ten whole years later and their little bird, as he liked to call her , came into their lives . Unlike their other children Suzume's conception happened at their wedding anniversary at those rare moments that the Cloud Guardian decided to be gentle at his lovemaking.

Maybe that was the reason their baby sparrow was such a sweetheart.

Just like that the afternoon came , the shop closed till the next ready and Kazumi went to her home to prepare a meal for her family.

That was her life now and she was grateful for that.

Hibari returned home at night, wanting nothing more than to be with his family. Yes he was still the aloof Cloud Guardian and crowds still annoyed him to the point of wanting to bite everyone to death. Also the only feeling he had during a good fight was excitement.

But, if he was to be honest with himself then he would have to admit that the times that he was with his family , were those that he felt truly free.

Free as a cloud...

He had never thought that him, who couldn't tolerate anyone, would actually settle down to start a family .

Nevertheless, the times that he locked eyes with his wife brought him back to the day of their very first meeting. He couldn't quite understand then , why his instinct back told him to be the one to carry her to the infirmary .

He understood now. Kazumi was, is and will be his as long as life continues. That thought alone brought an expression of calmness and satisfaction to his face.

Yes, her and their children were his treasure and he was proud and gratefull for that.
