I Can Help

Chapter 18

DramioneForever123

Father: Draco Malfoy

Hermione almost passed out right there and then.

"D-Draco? There's something you might want to see," said Hermione, collapsing on a chair next to them.

Laura ran up to Hermione and asked, "Mommy, are you okay?"

Hermione smiled weakly and said yes, but she really wasn't. How could this have happened?

Draco glanced at the paper, wondering why Hermione was scared of whatever was on the paper.

He saw it a second later. His reaction was much, much worse than Hermione's.

He threw the paper on the ground and stormed out, but not before ripping the head off of a stuffed dragon sitting innocently in the 'Kid's Korner' of the doctor's office.

As Hermione buried her face in her hands Laura tugged on her sleeve. "Mommy, where did Dawco go? And why did he look mad?"

Wiping her eyes Hermione replied, "We just learned something very.. shocking. Laura, Draco is your father,"

Hermione watched Laura's eyes grow in excitement.

"Wait.. so that means I have a mommy AND a daddy?"

Hermione looked at Laura curiously. She wasn't expecting this from her. But then again, today was just full of surprises.

"Yes, it does,"

Laura looked at Hermione sadly. "But did he leave because he doesn't wanna be my daddy?"

"No of course not! He loves you as much as I do. He was just a little surprised, that's all,"

Hermione said this more to convince herself than Laura.

She picked up the paper, stuffed it in her pocket, and then walked up to the reception desk after holding Laura's hand.

"The blood testing is very accurate, isn't it?" she asked casually, not sure what she wanted the woman to say. She knew for a fact that she was Laura's mother, but did she want Draco to be the father? When she looked deep inside herself, she truly did. She felt so happy with him. He made her feel like a princess. Like she was someone with the potential to be something. Ronald-the-Weasel-Bastard (sorry for ruining a serious moment, but had to put that in!) made her feel worthless. Useless. Yeah, it had been around three years since they broke it off, but she felt so depressed in that time.

After the war, she never truly felt that she would be happy again. When she first became happy, Ronald had stepped in and sucked it away. Like a dementor.

The woman lowered her glasses and said, "Yes, it is. We have a success rate of 99.9%,"

Hermione nodded and said her thanks to the woman before walking away with Laura in tow.

Hermione and Laura walked to Gringotts so that Hermione could withdraw some gold to buy the things necessary for her daughter.

Laura enjoyed the ride to Hermione's vault and had fun playing hide and seek in the hundreds of thousands of Galleons she had received for defeating Lord Voldemort.

After getting enough they went to assorted stores and got Laura a bunch of things she would need.

For example: A bed, lamp, desk, books, clothes, and other stuff.

After shrinking them all they went back to Hermione's house and placed them in a room which was soon to be Laura's.

"Mommy? Can we eat lunch?"

"Oh sure honey. I'm sorry, I've just been really distracted,"

As she got bread, peanut butter, and jelly out she remembered Draco.

Where was he, and more importantly, was he okay?

To be honest, if Draco was anything like Harry he would be angered at being shocked or surprised so suddenly.

As she slathered the jelly onto the bread she glanced at Laura and wondered what was going on in her head. She decided to find out.

She entered Laura's head and watched her newly found daughter for any signs that she felt something wrong in her head.

As she rooted around in her daughter's head she realized that now was the perfect time to put the memories in the Pensive. She didn't want to risk going into Draco's house to get it so she simply raised the blinds covering the window above the sink and opened it.

She then Accio'd it, hoping that nothing would break in Draco's house. She smiled triumphantly when it landed gently in her hands.

She decided to clear it of Draco's thoughts before she put Laura's in. She set Laura plate next to her and said, "I'm going to the bathroom honey, I'll be right back.

She left Laura in the living room, where she was entranced by the TV. Hermione closed the door behind her in the bathroom and stared at the Pensive in her hands. It would be wrong to get rid of them, so she cast a barrier charm that would prevent her from accidentally delving into Draco's memories. She was curious though, and it almost got the best of her. She was about to dive in when she heard Laura call her.

"Mommy? Someone rang the doorbell," said Laura, pounding on the bathroom door with her tiny fists.

"Coming!" She quickly but carefully stuck it underneath the sink.

She ran up to the door with Laura in tow. She looked through the peep hole (sorry I'm not sure what it's called) and saw Draco with a bouquet of flowers in his hand.

She opened the door and was about to say something when she was cut off by Draco.

He tossed the flowers on the counter and kicked the door closed with his foot.

"Princess, before you say anything, I'm so sorry. I was just so shocked and I'm not really sure what happened, but I just lost it. And I shouldn't have,"

And with that string of words (which left Hermione speechless) he grabbed her face in his hands and kissed her fiercely.

"Eww!" squealed Laura, running back into the living room.

Hermione was taken aback. She felt her knees goes weak and put her arms around his neck. After a minute or so they pulled apart.

Draco whistled. "Wow," he said with a smile.

Hermione smiled back at him.

"Wow indeed,"
