He was beyond nervous. What would she say to him? Would she accept his proposal?

He had called his mother, hoping she would be able to help his predicament. She had only managed to make hi even more anxious. Kagome's mother had been no help, either.

They had both been married once before, would they want to go through such a course a second time? He himself knew it would be different this time, but what would she think?

He couldn't keep his fingers off of the little box in his pocket. His heart beat against his chest violently. What would she say?

What will you say?

He saw her, walking towards him, and he smiled towards her direction. She was wearing a yukata his mother had picked out for her, and he could tell she had been spending more time with her. She had hear hair curled, pinned slightly, but not enough to where her hair was to her head. It hung in low waves against her back, and she had a pretty butterfly clip in her hair.

The yukata was a pretty blue, with a golden obi. Clouds and dragonflies decorated the cloth, and in her hand she held a small bag, which he could only assumed held some money, and maybe a lip gloss.

"Sesshomaru, over here!" She called, waving to him. He walked towards her, wrapping her in his arms as he reached her. She smelt divine, of strawberries and peaches. He inhaled deeply, taking in her scent.

"Kagome," he sighed, his hands tightening on her back. "You look beautiful."

"Thank you, Sesshomaru," she blushed, looking up to him through half lidded eyes. She stood on tiptoe to kiss him on his lips gently, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Where are we going?" She asked.

He looked upward, towards the giant cherry tree that stood before them. She gasped, looking to him with incredulous eyes. "Hold on to me," he said.

She did so, and tightened her grip as she saw a cloud form beneath his feet. She wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing her cheek to his chest. His arms went around her, and they ascended towards the highest branch of the tree. When she saw how high they were, she started to breath heavily.

"Kagome," Sesshomaru gave her a reassuring squeeze, lifting her chin with one hand to look at the scene before them. He heard her amazement as she looked around them, then back up to him with wonder in her eyes.

"This is incredible, Sesshomaru!" She exclaimed, her face turning into a bright smile. He chuckled, before placing their feet onto a thick branch, giving them plenty of space to walk a short distance.

"I am glad you like it." He spoke softly, taking a cherry blossom and placing it into the other side of her hair. "It is a appropriate sight,"

"This tree is really beautiful," Kagome agreed, yet she was confused when she saw the expression on his face.

"I was not speaking of the tree." Kagome blushed, understanding what he meant.

"Oh, um… well, you picked a great time to view the Cherry Festival. They're all in bloom!" She smiled, but when she turned back to look at him, she felt her heart pound.

Thump.

His silver hair, which he had tied into a high ponytail, was blowing gently in the wind. His moon-kissed skin, so pale and beautiful, seemed to glow amongst the colors of pink and brown around them. Petals landed in his hair and on his clothing, making him look otherworldly. He looked dazzling.

Then his body shifted.

Thump.

"What are you—"

He kneeled.

Thump, thump.

"Oh god…" She felt her breath leaving her, as she saw him reach for something in his pocket.

"Kagome…"

Thump, thump, thump.

"Sesshomaru, I—"

"I have something I need to say." He interrupted, taking her hand in his. She bit her lip, falling to her knees. He rubbed her fingers in his hold, taking the box from his other hand and placing it in her palm.

"Oh. My. God."

Thump, thump, thump.

"I am not one to relinquish emotion so effortlessly," he started, his gaze drifting to the breeze that was floating petals around them. "Nor am I one to admit loss."

She could see the courage he had to muster to say this. She rubbed circles into his palm, with her free hand, encouraging him to continue.

He smiled, thanking her wordlessly, before continuing. "I have found my weakness, and it is unlike any other I have had to face." His eyes bore into her own, and he waited, asking her silently to open the box as he looked to it. She did, and gasped when she saw its content.

"Sesshomaru…" she breathed, her mouth opening as she stared at the band of silver, with a beautiful, simple diamond in the center. "It's…"

"You, are that weakness." He whispered, taking a clawed hand and caressing her cheek. "I cannot live without you. It would be meaningless."

Kagome looked to him with tears in her eyes, speechless. She had never thought to find love after Inuyasha, and she had never thought of marriage again, thinking she would never wed again.

Yet as she sat here, looking into the eyes of the demon who had capture her heart so easily, she smiled, tears falling down her cheek as he took the ring, putting it onto her finger.

"I ask for you to stay by my side," he whispered, his cheek rubbing against hers, "I ask for you to be my weakness, my strength, and my wife."

Kagome's body jerked as she let out a hearfelt sob, throwing her arms around his neck. She cried until her throat hurt and was raspy. Tears fell from her face in streams, her heart growing in size as he kissed her cheeks, her forehead, and her lips.

"I love you," she whispered in between kisses, pressing her nose against his. He purred, his forehead pressed against hers. "I will marry you."

Her heart had never felt joy as it did now.

She grabbed him, holding him to her chest, sobbing as she confessed her love to him over and over.

She held onto him, because he was her lifeline.

Like he was the only man who loved her.
