Hi all, just wanted to do a bit of an Author's Note! I was immensely unhappy with the last chapter. I feel like I shouldn't have posted it at all. I'm hoping this one will make up for that last shitty chapter. I love the reviews and always appreciate the fact that you guys take the time to do so. Much love and I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas :)
The next thing I knew, Steve had pushed me out of the way. Debris and rubble flew everywhere as the massive creatures landed in the middle of the road. I looked up to see Steve on top of me, shielding me from the debris hurtling towards us with his shield.
"Thank you," I whispered.
His electric blue eyes met mine and he smiled shyly.
"Anytime Anna."
"Oi lovebirds, you better get up! There's more of the little bastards coming towards us!"
"Let's get you out of here," Steve said, helping me up.
He grabbed my arm and led me into a close by building. I looked around the room and saw men, women and children looking scared out of their minds.
"Steve, what's going to happen?" I asked fearfully.
"We're going to win ma'am, just like all good guys do," he stated.
"And what if we don't? Then what?" I whispered.
That's not going to happen, Anna, you gotta have faith."
Steve gave me one last smile before he ran outside towards the other Avengers.
I knew what could happen if we lost. I knew the price I would pay for running. There would be no place I could go that he wouldn't find me. I didn't know what he'd do to me, and I didn't want to know. But I sure as hell wasn't going to wait in some half blown up building to find out.
I looked out the window and saw the street was empty. As quietly as I could, I slowly made my way outside, sticking close to the buildings' wall as I could. I checked around the corner to make sure it was clear. I did this for several blocks until I came across the guys. I hid, not wanting them to see me. The Chitauri zoomed above and boy was I glad they didn't notice me.
I was scared out of my mind. What the hell was I thinking?! I didn't even have a fucking weapon!
I saw a couple of dead Chitauri and pried one of their weapons from their dead hands. It looked pretty easy to use, it was a staff design. I held it with before hands and gave it a bit of a test. Thank god Fury had made us do two weeks of basic training before getting onto his flying death trap.
I began to run towards Stark Tower. Technically, it's the only place I could think of that made me feel safe.
I began to run down the street towards the skyscraper and almost managed to use my stolen alien staff to knock a Chitauri off of the flying pod thing, but I missed. The monster snarled and jumped down off the flying device. I clutched the weapon to my chest and felt panic rise throughout my body. It slowly advanced towards me, drool dripping out of its mouth as it snarled viciously.
Another Chitauri came out of nowhere and began growling at the other one. It was almost like they were communicating. Using the distraction to my advantage, I shoot the one closest to me in the chest. It howled and fell back. The other one marched up to me lightning fast, tearing the weapon from my hands and throwing it away. I fell to my knees.
Then, just as I thought I'd receive a death-blow from the alien, it grabbed my forearm and lifted me up on my feet. It growled at me and then began dragging me towards Stark Tower. Other Chitauri snarled and growled wildly. I was just left wondering why I was being kept alive, but secretly I knew why they hadn't killed me.
Loki.
I dropped to the ground and began crying and screaming for help frantically, but the alien threw me over its shoulder. That's when I saw Steve, and he saw me.
Steve began to run towards me but a Chitauri knocked him down. The last thing I saw before being taken inside was Steve with his arm stretched out, calling out my name.
The Chitauri took me to the top floor, or as I knew it; Tony's floor. I was dumped at Loki's feet.
"Well, well, well, look who has returned to her King," he said maliciously.
"Not like I had a choice," I said icily.
"Aw, that's sweet. The mortal thinks she has any choices left," he laughed.
"You need to stop this Loki! It's crazy!"
"Worried about your precious soldier are you?" he asked.
"I'm worried about all of them, you idiot!" I screamed.
Loki didn't hesitate as he back handed me. I cupped my cheek with me hand and felt blood on my lip.
"Listen here you ridiculous, weak little mortal. I have won. Even now, your silly Avengers are being beaten by the hand of my glorious army. I cannot be stopped! I have gone too far and mewling whims now. You can choose to side with me and be my Queen, or I will take you by force. I will leave you an empty husk of what you once were. It is your choice, really."
"I will never choose you, you sadistic asshole," I yelled, clenching my fists.
"So be it," he snarled, gesturing to one of the Chitauri.
The monster dragged me to one of the bedrooms, threw me on the bed and knocked me out.
My eyes fluttered open hours later. Silence hung in the air as I slowly made me way to the window. Pulling back the curtain, I saw that the city was in a state of flame and ruin. The Chitauri hung in the air and spilled out of the ground. I stood away from the window horrified.
Steve had been wrong. We'd lost the world's most important war.
After that, Loki took swift control of the world. After seeing how he had levelled New York, many countries bowed down to him in an attempt to save the lives of their people. All this was happening whilst I was stuck in Stark Tower. Chitauri guarded every exit and I wasn't even allowed out onto the balcony. I had to watch my beloved city go down in flames, its people slaughtered and massacred. Where were the Avengers?!
Four weeks later, I was told by some of Loki's newly acquired human soldiers that I was to be relocated. When I asked about the Avengers and what had happened to them, I was told to shut my mouth, or it would be shut for me. I was taken to in the airport and shoved in a private jet.
"Where are you taking me, please just tell me," I begged one of the soldiers on the plane.
"Now miss, the boss man told us not to tell you anything," he said in a deep voice.
I grabbed his shirt and he roughly pushed me away. I fell into a chair and knocked over a glass, smashing it.
"What's all the fucking commotion?" I heard a deep voice yell.
A solidly built man entered the cabin, with a machine gun slung over his shoulder.
"The girly here was trying to get the info on our soon to be location," the first man laughed.
"King Loki told you, the girl was not to be harmed. If there's a bruise on her, it'll be your head," the solid man warned him angrily.
He strode over to me and helped me into the chair. He crouched down to meet my eyes.
"Now listen here miss, if you misbehave, the King will have our heads. The world has changed from what you once knew it to be. Loki has absolute power and what he says goes now. We are taking you to him, as per his request. At this point in time, that's all you need to know. So sit down, have a drink and rest, because we've all got a long flight ahead of us. It'll do you no good to have no rest," he said, walking back out of the cabin.
I nodded my head and looked at my hands. How much could the world change in just four weeks? Surely it couldn't change that much, could it?
