There was only one thing that Ibiki hated more than being late, and that was acting out of turn. The hardened man could attest to it. He was always punctual and hadn't misbehaved since he was a child. After all, one could not expect things out of others without performing to their own standards first.

In the case of the students who inhabited this new club, he knew that they were going to need a little work—well, a lot of work, where the ex-yankee and knuckleheaded blond were concerned—however, he did not expect to have to start off their first official meeting with an intervention.

He took one look at the hallway with bodies littered about as if they were in a warzone, and couldn't help the low growl that escaped his throat. "This is unacceptable."

The five students froze and turned to look of him with mixed looks which consisted of apprehension, shame and even fear.

Good. His sharp eyes roved over each and every one of them, staring at each of them for half a second before setting his shoulders back and holding his arms behind his back in a captain's stance. "You two," he eyed the pinkette who lie in a tangled heap on the ground with the blond troublemaker whose file was so thick that it needed to be held closed with a rubber band. "Get up."

"And you," He turned to the trio who stood a couple of feet away, eyeing the males who both seemed to have a rather… comfortable hold on the female between them. "Release that girl. You aren't her family, and have no business touching her so familiarly in the hallway where anyone could see."

The girl—a Hyuuga, he determined after he briefly examined her features—immediately flushed crimson and let out a startled 'eep!' before breaking out of the two males' grasps before they could even think to move. She carefully avoided everyone's gaze and practically flew over to the pinkette, who had just righted herself, and hid herself in the folds of the other girl's uniform. Jade hues flicked up and gave each one of them a warning look, not even sparing Ibiki himself.

At least they are loyal to one another. The teacher thought with a brow raised at the pinkette's cheek.

"G-Gomen, Morino-sensei." A soft voice broke the silence that Ibiki hadn't noticed settling in. It was the Hyuuga who had spoken up, and though she couldn't see him, he returned her apology with a curt nod.

"Everyone, into the Lab room. We have to conduct our first meeting, and since you were all late, we'll use this time to go over the rules."

Oh man, why does it feel like I'm fixing to join the military? Shikamaru groaned silently, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he toed the unofficial horizontal line that they were to form.

He had thought that Ibiki's tense words in the hallway had been intense, but those quietly uttered words had nothing on the talk-down they were getting at the moment. As soon as they had entered the Lab room, he ordered them to stand in this line, giving him a clear view of each of them, and not allowing anyone (Hinata) to hide behind an overprotective hardass (Sakura). They were all to stand straight and face forward, a typical military line.

Ibiki certainly had the mentality of a militia man. Hell, he even held himself as a high ranking solider would. His back was ramrod straight, his hands were neatly folded behind his back, and he was pacing the length of the room before them, sparing a half second every few minutes to blink.

"There will be no funny business in this club. I have taken the liberty of looking up each and every one of your student files. Haruno, you will not bully your fellow clubmates. Uchiha, you're going to do just as work as everyone else, you are not excluded due to your family status. Uzumaki, you will not yell needlessly and cause chaos as you seem to be so fond of doing." Ibiki came to a stop in front of Shikamaru.

Great… His mind drawled as his hazel hues flicked up to meet those of their sensei. A little one-on-one with me.

"Nara. You will not be skipping classes anymore, not with your intelligence."

Shikamaru blinked up at the man, his brows raising high. Well… That was new. He wasn't used to being talked to without a distinct sense of being nagged.

"You are genuinely intelligent. Nothing angers me more than someone who is not performing to the best of their abilities. Take naps on your own time; school is not a resting home." The man held onto the lazy teen's eyes a moment longer, before turning to Hinata, who stood at the end of the line with Sakura at her side.

She's nervous as hell. Shikamaru thought, pursing his lips as he watched the Hyuuga fiddle with the sleeves of her school sweater, her lavender hues dancing between Ibiki's waist and shoulders. It was as if she were trying to work up the nerve to meet his eyes, but got spooked before she made it past the male's hulking torso and was forced to start over again.

"Hinata-san." Ibiki's voice was surprisingly gentle, enough so that the heiress' eyes were able to slowly skirt up and meet his own. There wasn't a smile on the stern man's face, but there was a sense of warmth that Hinata wouldn't mistake as anything other than encouraging. "I would like for you to open up to everyone in the club. It is nice that you have your best friend at your side, but it would also be good if you broadened your horizons."

It didn't escape Shikamaru's notice that Hinata was the only one whom Ibiki used the first name for. No surprise there. The Nara thought. He is a psychology teacher, after all. He most likely read from her stance that she's skittish at best and wouldn't take such firmness as well as the rest of us. He couldn't help but respect the scarred man for it.

The Hyuuga chewed at her lower lip for a couple of seconds, as if thinking it over, before she hesitantly nodded. "H-Hai!"

Well, good for her. Shikamaru thought with a small, half smile. He glanced off to the side, pausing when he caught sight of the Uchiha's head snapping away from the group a half second later. Is it just me or did I just see a smile on the Uchiha's face? Shikamaru shook the thought off almost as soon as it finished forming. Nah. Even if he has a crush on the Hyuuga, I can't picture the Uchiha smiling at anyone… At least not in public.

"Good." Ibiki turned away from the indigo haired teen and the rest of the group, giving them his back. "Now, we were supposed to make our introductions of the club and brainstorm what sorts of projects we'd take on this morning, but seeing as you all decided that you needed a scolding, we will have to do it this afternoon. We will meet in this room at the end of the day, and if you are late, be prepared to go through some vigorous training out on the field."

Shikamaru groaned. Yep. It's exactly like joining the military. What a troublesome club!

What a boring day. Sasuke thought to himself as he slung his satchel over his shoulder. Other than that scene in the hallway with Hinata and the rest of the club, nothing has really happened. The teen made his way through the massive crowd of students who were rushing towards the shoe lockers, easily pushing his way in the opposite direction.

"Sasuke-san!" The soft voice managed to reach the Uchiha's sensitive ears through the dull screeching of their peers.

Sasuke glanced over his shoulder, a frown pulling at his lips as he watched the petite Hyuuga struggle to make her way over to him. She would manage to slip between small clusters of students, only to be caught behind another almost immediately. After a couple of painful minutes of being Hinata-less, Sasuke decided to take matters into his own hands… literally. He grabbed a couple of guys who were in a large group blocking the path, pulling them in close and hissing low, "You aren't needed here. Get out. Before I make you."

It didn't take much persuasion for the group to vacate the premises, not with an Uchiha practically whispering threats in their ears. As soon as they cleared out, there was enough room for Hinata to slip by along the edge, coming to a stop next to the raven haired teen and smiling that dimpled smile of hers.

"T-Thanks for waiting, Sasuke-san. I s-saw you and figured since we're b-both headed to the same room…" She trailed off, lightly biting her lip as she started to have a staring contest with the ground.

"No problem." He murmured, before spinning on his heel and making his way through the crowd at a subdued pace, if only to ensure that the Hyuuga made it through safely.

As they ventured further into the building, the halls became less populated, allowing Sasuke to fall back and in step with Hinata, for he knew that she'd never gather the courage to do it herself. She was always like that. He mused, nearly allowing the fond smile that lie just beneath the surface to rise.

"Sasuke-san..?"

"Hn?"

"There's something t-that you should know—w-well, that I would like to t-tell you beforehand, just in case it e-ever gets back to you…" Hinata was fidgeting, but her eyes were determinedly trying to meet his own.

"What's that?" Sasuke asked, gratuitously meeting her eyes so slowly that it couldn't possibly deter her.

"W-Well, the other night at dinner, otou-sama a-asked if I had made any progress in my t-training. As you know, a Gardening Club isn't s-something he would approve of…"

Sasuke nodded. If Hiashi was half as bad a Fugaku, he knew it could be a bitch to explain some of the simpler things in life.

"W-Well you see… Since I couldn't tell him about the club, I sort o-of implied that I was working on forming a-an alliance between you and I. I-I'm sorry to be so assuming, but… Sasuke-san?" Hinata blinked, glancing back at the Uchiha who had came to a stop a few feet back.

Sasuke had frozen as soon as Hinata mentioned the alliance. This could mean trouble. Surely he would've done something by now if he had heard though..?

"Sasuke-san?"

Sasuke blinked and all of a sudden Hinata was standing in front of him with her dark brows pinched together with worry and the beginnings of self-shame.

"I-I can tell otou-sama that the a-alliance won't work if it bothers you…"

"Hinata-san, who did you tell this to, exactly?"

Hinata blinked at the sudden use of her first name—the first time Sasuke has used it, if she wasn't mistaken—before meeting the Uchiha's blazing obsidian orbs. "Well, just otou-sama and Hanabi-chan."

"Is that all? For sure?" Sasuke asked, his hands clenching and unclenching at his sides.

"Hai… Unless otou-sama called Neji-niisan to tell him… B-But I doubt he would. Neji-niisan is only my cousin, after all…"

Safe. Sasuke allowed himself to breathe easier, his hands unfurling and slowly sinking into his pockets. "Aa. Well… I don't actually mind, Hinata-san. You can use me as a cover." He smirked when the Hyuuga gasped at the word 'use'. He knew that it made it sound as if she were taking advantage of him, but he knew better. There wasn't anything that he wouldn't do for her if she just asked.

After all, she was his girl.

A/N: I think that this is actually the first time for this story that I've written from Sasuke's pov for this story...

Anyways, thanks for reading!
