Season 6. I OWN NOTHING!
"We figured out how to get around the whole 'family only' rule." Colin assured Rory. "We're adopting him."
"What?" Rory asked, confused for a moment. As Colin and Finn rambled on their tangent, Rory grew angrier and angrier.
"What is wrong with you two?" she exploded. "Your best friend is lying unconscious in a hospital, and you don't even care!"
"Rory..." Finn tried to calm her down.
"Why aren't you lying unconscious in the hospital? Go home. I don't want to look at you right now."
"Rory," Colin stopped her as she tried to brush past him. "We do care. Of course we care. This is the only way we can deal. I'm sorry if we came across as being flippant or stupid, but we can't deal with this any better than you can." Rory looked at Colin. His face, which had been so animated seconds before, was creased with worry and he looked incredibly tired all of a sudden.
"Logan is our best friend." Finn told Rory. "If it could be me in there right now instead of him, I wish it would be."
"I'm sorry, Rory." Colin said.
"No, I'm sorry, guys. I shouldn't have freaked out on you like that."
"We're both sorry about this. It shouldn't have happened. It wouldn't have if we had given up on the Brigade by now. I think we should have." Colin said.
"I think so, too." a voice sounded behind Rory, and she turned around.
"Mr. Huntzberger!" she said, surprised.
"This is exactly what I didn't want to happen to Logan, Rory." Mitchum said, his humanity almost shocking her.
""These plans to send him to London, on business trips, away from me. Why?" Rory asked.
"So he can grow up. I want the best for Logan. You have been one of the most stabilizing influences in his life in the past year. I don't want him to be in the Brigade and I am not out to wreck your relationship with him. I want him to stop wasting his life on these stupid stunts, and put the brain God gave him to use. I'm pushing him into the business. My father pushed me out of the Brigade and into business and it was what was best for me.
"I don't know if I can do the same with Logan. I don't know if this will make him rebel even more. Probably will. But, it's what I know to do." Mitchum sat in a chair by Logan's door. "I know Logan is brilliant. He hides it, but he is. I want what's best for him. I'm not out to get him."
"I think you should tell him that." Rory said, honestly.
"He doesn't want to hear that coming from me."
"He may not want to, but he needs to." Rory urged.
Mitchum entered Logan's room, and Rory sat in the hall. Somehow, she knew that this was a good thing, and that maybe it would be a turning point in Logan's relationship with his dad. She hoped for both's sake that it was. She eventually stood up and allowed Colin and Finn to take her home to Logan's apartment. She left the hospital knowing that everything would be okay, and that the one person Logan really needed by his side was already there.
