A/N: So, guess who's back from the dead with some crappy fan fictions? THIS GAL! All I can say is sorry, and thank you so much for my fans who actually encouraged me to write again with some recent reviews. I'm glad that someone actually cares about my fanfictions.

Hope you all can pick back up on the story line. Kagome, Hidan, and Deidara are under cover talking to the kids and Kakashi, member? Now, this isn't edited, so excuse some mistakes, please.

**MonsterlyFiction:) is back baby.

Chapter 10

Things almost went as planed. Kagome was distracting the foolish jounin as Deidara and Hidan effortless gathered all the information they needed out of the two children. They were nearly open books; spewing any answer from a simple question. It was too easy.

Deidara kept a weary eye on the black haired boy. The kid stayed off from the group, looking intently at Kagome. The bomber had a feeling that the little Uchiha was catching on, or at least trying to.

Everything was fine, or so he thought. It almost happened too fast. Kagome's voice simply stopped and a harsh chakra flared up angrily.

It seemed as if the atmosphere not only shifted, but also picked up and moved to a completely different realm of existence. The wind changed, as everything was silent.

Kagome backed up slowly, attempting to get closer to her teammates as a shadowed figure appeared. Deidara walked to her, pulling her back by the arm.

"What's going on?" He hissed to her, but she was simply speechless. Deidara watched as Kagome turned from the figure, looking to the ground. Something clicked in the bombers mind, and he nodded to Hidan. The stories, it was him. Deidara's mind quickly scanned through possibilities to end this situation. A well placed bomb to cover their escape?

There was a small silence as the man walked to Sasuke, not even attempting to look their way. "Kagome, why are you here?" His voice was extremely calm when he glanced back to the girl. Deidara and Hidan took defensive stances, but Kagome pushed slightly passed them.

Itachi had a hand on Sasuke's shoulder, a sign to keep quiet until they were done, which the child begrudgingly did.

His glare narrowed on her as she refused to make eye contact with him. He had to admit; some part of him was hoping to see her wonderful green eyes, not these muddy atrocities.

Kagome took him in. The glaring eyes, the tense figure, the angry aura. He wasn't exactly happy to see her. "Answer me!" Such distaste in his voice. With those two words, it was as if Kagome had been punched in the stomach. Fury rose within her as it pushed through the sudden heartache.

"Well, if you must know, I had a mission, but as it were, it is finished and I am leaving now." Her voice choked and she nodded to Hidan and Deidara, anger brimming in her being. She turned around, only to not- so-surprisingly run into Itachi.

"I'm afraid that's not an option."

She took another step back, trying to get some distance between them. Kagome sneered slightly. "You insult me."

He just stared her down, riling her up. Itachi didn't know exactly why he was doing this, but something told him that it was absolutely needed.

"As much as I want to look the other way, dear Kagome, I can not… we are supposed to be killing each other right now…" His silken voice was ever condescending.

Deidara and Hidan didn't know what to do at this point. Hidan was aware that Kagome was going to fight this guy, he's seen it happen many times before, but he had no idea whether or not he should allow her to. They were in a very dangerous position right now. Hidan and Deidara weren't even sure why there was no ambush of ANBU yet. Hell, that jounin was still standing there, just watching. But in all, Hidan was itching to fight something damnit!

"I'm done talking." Kagome glared at Itachi, her irises turning black in challenge, which he responded by making the first move.

Suddenly, they were gone. Sounds of battle resonated through the air, but no actual scars where to be seen, that is, until Kagome came flying out of the foliage. Her body collided soundly with a tree, causing a shudder to travel up the bark. Leaves fell around her as she rolled to the ground, nearly unconscious. Kagome heaved herself up using the trunk to support herself before watching Itachi land on the grassy floor.

He was on her then. With a simple hand he was holding her hostage, choking her harshly. She let out a surprised gasp when her vision blackened and realization hit her.

'The 'love' of her life was going to kill her.'

As her consciousness nearly left she heard his words.

"Like enemies… Remember?" Through her hazy mind, she recollected all their 'spars', and with a quick eye found the spot that was left open for her.

With a single energy draining kick, a few shouts, an enemy 'incapacitated', and some thick smoke, they were gone.

It actually took Itachi a couple moments to recover from that kick. And within those moments his ANBU team had come and gone under his hasty dismissal, right along with Kakashi and his team of brats (ever shocked and confused).

Itachi smirked as he stood against the winning of his ribs. An arm draped around them he mumbled to himself. 'Just as strong as ever, ne, Kags?'

Sasuke approached his brother later questions lining his open mouth.

"Why did you just let her leave, brother? I mean, everything you've done in the ANBU was to bring her home, why let it slip through your hands?" Itachi sighed, hating how his little brother was pesky sometimes.

"My reasons are mine alone, Sasuke." Itachi didn't need open eyes to hear a fist slam into a table.

"I loved her too, you know!" His voice was laced with unshed tears.

"I'm aware of this." There was a silence were Sasuke waited for his brother to go on, but of course, he didn't.

"I don't think it's fair! She was so close. She could've been home with us, right now." Now Itachi opened his eyes, glaring at his brother.

"Stop being such a child and realize that not everything is about you." Itachi paused and stood, a small intake of breath covering his pain. "Life is not fair. And it would've been more unfair if she was jailed, tortured, and surly killed, no?" Sasuke reluctantly nodded, pouting slightly.

"I see... What's your plan now?" Sasuke's voice was calm now, a sign that he felt bad for yelling at his brother.

Itachi thought for a moment before heading for the door to his estate. "I think it's time to see an old friend."
