Disclaimer: I own nothing
In the middle of the night there were three blurs tracing the perimeter of the Northman estate. Once they reached the perimeter in front of the main house, they fanned out towards the house. The first blur materialized and nodded in approval as the second blur arrived and materialized at his side. The two vampires notice they are short a companion and turn to scowl at the third vampire who was casually jogging to his destination.
"Why do we have to this every night"? Lex whined as he came to a stop beside his father and sister.
"Because your mother is a vampire birthing, fairy princess, who is the queen of Louisiana and Eric Northman, your father, the king of Louisiana's biggest weakness". Pam said with a click of her fangs in Lex's face.
"Retract your fangs" Lex commanded.
"I think that crown is cutting off the circulation to you brain". Pam calmly countered.
Eric was standing close to the house to listen for a sleeping Sookie while he monitored his children battling out their frustrations with one another. He won't stop whatever transpires. Eric hated to admit that Lex's birthright had made him a very soft vampire. Pam was the only vampire that dared to challenge Lex other than Eric, himself.
Lex's fangs descended right before he threw the first punch. Pam grabbed his wrist and flipped him with ease. Lex was thrown against a tall pine tree and then fell to the ground.
"Your mother will have your fangs if you uproot another tree". Eric warned his children.
Lex ignored his father's warning as he readied himself to pounce on his sister. Pam kept her back turned even though she could hear him coming after her with the grace of an elephant. At the last second, Pam turned and with a small push of her hand, she sent him on a new course for the ground.
Lex decided that since his air attack didn't work, he would try a ground attack. He went for her feet. He wrapped his arms around her ankles and pulled her to the ground. One of Pam's pumps connected with Lex's face. The heel snapped off of her shoe. Her head popped up at the sound; she then raised her foot in hope of it being a twig she heard snap. One small red tear escape Pam's eye before she went after Lex with a vengeance.
Eric turned towards the house at the sound of the door knob turning behind him. The door opened to reveal his queen.
"Did you enjoy your nap, my love"? Eric asked as Sookie came to stand beside him.
"I did until the stampede of elephants started". Sookie answered.
Eric kissed her forehead. "I am sorry, they disturbed you".
"Pam seems more violent tonight" Sookie observed. She then cringed after one of Pam's blows connected with Lex's body.
"Lex broke one of Pam's heels". Eric responded nonchalantly.
"Eric, she is going to kill him! Stop them!" Sookie pleaded in fear for her son.
"No, his title has made him soft and a" Eric took a moment to pick the right word "brat". He made a face with his choice of word. "He needs this. He needs to understand that in the condition and state of mind he is in" Eric paused for a moment, disappointed in himself. He turned to look his son's mother in the eyes to drive home his point. "A newborn vampire could bring the true death to the son of Eric Northman".
Sookie Knew how much it hurt Eric to admit that he had failed with Lex. She nodded her head in understanding and then turned to watch her children brawl. Sookie strained to see the details of each blur.
The blurs came to a halt. Pam and Lex stared at each other, growling and clenching their fists. They were no longer siblings in their minds eye but enemies. Without any thought they both picked up shards of wood from a tree they had smashed. Lex charged at Pam. She wasn't about to back down and ran towards Lex.
They were only a few feet apart when a blast of light sent them flying in opposite directions. As the light faded and their eyes adjusted, Pam and Lex noticed Sookie with Eric standing behind her.
"I command you to stop". Sookie spoke with authority.
They stood before her with their heads hung low. "Yes, mother" Pam and Lex said in unison.
"She isn't your mother" Lex told Pam with disgust.
"I am her maker's bonded and wife. I may not have given birth to her as I did you but I am her mother. You would be wise to learn your place in this world, Lex Northman". Sookie scolded.
"But mother" Lex whined.
"Your queen has spoken"! Eric barked in Lex's face with his fangs descended.
"Yes, your majesty. My apologies your majesties" Lex grumbled.
Sookie turned from Lex. He was her son but he was also a vampire. He needed to be taught how to be a vampire. Lex wasn't going to live to be a thousand years otherwise. Sookie placed a protective hand over her stomach, as she shed a single tear then nodded to Eric.
"It is the command of your king that you be punished for the disrespect of your queen and of my progeny". Eric declared looking above Lex into the distance.
As much as Lex irritated Pam, she would take no pleasure in her brother's punishment. She took Lex by the arm into the woods for his punishment.
"What are you going to do to me"? Lex demanded.
"It's because of that attitude that we are out here. I honestly don't know what to do with you. You are being punished so that you will be a better vampire. That's not my forte. I torture others because I enjoy it not to educate them". Pam fired back.
Pam paced back and forth trying to think of a proper punishment for Lex. Her thoughts kept returning to earlier that evening when Lex was whining about their nightly patrols. Then the reason for their patrols came to her mind. That very reason inspired Lex's punishment.
"Go, to the house. I need to think about your punishment some more. I will tell the king that I couldn't come up with an appropriate one at the present time but would do so soon". Pam told Lex before she sent him off as the wheels in her head continued to turn.
