The Acts of the SPK
21 And then Nate River (who is called Near) said, "We must wait here for the servant of Kira; he is X-Kira. He will come along like a thief, and he will attempt to slay us."
2When the companions of Light heard this, they were greatly distressed, and said to each other, "What is this thing he is doing? Surely we will die if the servant of Kira arrives in this place."
3But Near said to them, "Do not be afraid! If he comes, let him enter; and if he looks through the door, allow him. Look! Already he is here!"
4And behold, the companions of Light and Near saw a man standing outside the door. 5As he looked in he cast his eyes on Light the son of Soichiro, and seeing that his lifespan was not visible he cried, "My lord and my god!" 6And with a great cry he wrote their names in the notebook, saying "sakujo" (which means delete).
7When he had finished, Light called to him and said, "Come in," and the man came in. 8Then Light the son of Soichiro said, "tell us how long it has been since you wrote the names." 9And the man replied, "forty seconds."
10Light turned to the one called Near and said, "I have won!" 11But behold, he did not die; rather he and all of the companions of Light and Near lived. 12And Light and the man were greatly dismayed. 13"How can this be?" Light said to himself, "For Mikami has surely written the names of everyone here in the notebook." And the others were greatly amazed.
14Then Near said to them, "Did I not tell you that you would not die? And behold, you did not die. For I have replaced the notebook of Mikami with a fake notebook." 15Then the SPK seized Mikami, but Light the son of Soichiro tried to write the name of Nate River in the piece of the notebook that he had concealed. 16But Matsuda (who is called baka), shot Light through with many bullets, and he fled even as his blood spilled onto the ground.
17As Light was fleeing, Ryuk the Shinigami, seeing that he would soon die, wrote the name of Light in his own notebook. 18And Light laid himself down and gave up his spirit.
