Epilogue: Future Perfect

Eto... It's a long while since I've last posted, about a year ago, I think... Been really busy lately - and, well, my muses seemed to have gone on a vacation, too - but I'm back now. Perhaps I won't be uploading as frequent as before, but I'll try to rattle my creative writing back to life.

Anyways, here's the long overdue epilogue of "Past Tense and Present Perfect", my first baby in 2015, "Future Perfect". Hopefully, you, my dear readers, grace me with your gentle but constructive reviews.

Disclaimer: I still have a long way to go... 0_o*

Epilogue: Future Perfect

The wind blew coldly, nearing the end of the autumn season as it is, casting irony against the sensation of warmth the bright orange glittering lake beyond.

Fuji sat serenely, back leaning on a sturdy tree, looking at the nostalgic scene before him. It was a picture he had seen many times before - too many times to be counted - but this was the first time that he had felt at peace... contented... happy. For all the years that had passed, the pain and suffering, now all seemed like a distant dream. Because, in this present time, his feelings had finally reached the one person he had ever and will ever love, reciprocated and cherished... And that's is reason enough for him to smile every single day.

His ever-present beam sparkled softly, as past memories played vividly in his mind. Event he wanted to be kept inside... events he wanted the entire world to be jealous of... events he will never regret going through... events that will always be etched in his heart...

In that tranquility, he reminisced their unforgotten past that started it all...

Late Edo Period

Old Japan

The silent night embraced Taizhoka's small but regal frame - lone and still - as the symphony of crickets and pond bamboo spitter played serenely amidst their zen garden. It felt nostalgic yet calming to watch the untamed leaves freely braves the vast darkness, gliding willingly with the ever-present zephyr. It painted picturesquely of a thousand unspoked promises that the shrubs chatted about in hushed excitement.

"I didn't expect you to sneak in here this late in the eve, Fujiwara," the megane greeted his companion, knowing well who it is without looking.

"Saa... I guess I just really need to see you tonight," assented the shorter boy, whilst he made his way towards the wise tree near their koi pond, where his purpose stood beside, with voice softly trailing off, "this last peaceful eve..."

"Ah." Taizhoka affirmed, sounding a tad like a sigh, before asking about their inevitable parting, "when is it?"

"Before the rooster croons the dawn, but not until after the twilight of dusk," was Fujiwara's answer, neither precise nor vague, as if doing so would lessen the creeping anxiety.

The pregnant silence that followed was deafening... the desire to stay, but the need to depart... a burden, if so to put, yet a disguised opportunity they both 'must' undersrand. The taller boy shifted slightly, his gaze still fixated onto the guarding tree trunk - a sleeping gift should it be allowed by nature to live. While the lithe lad peeked his cerulean gaze towards his cherished companion, a yearning smile tugging on his pink lips.

Unable to contain his curiousity, his sapphires paced towards that which 'robbed' him of Taizhoka's attention, but just as soon ruled that his thought of selfishness is inexcusable. And so Fujiwara opted to break the entrancement, weaving a final moment of precious memory by pleaded conversation. "What are you looking at, Taizhoka?"

As if woken from a spell of pondering thoughts, Taizhoka finally faced his once most trusted steward for the first time that evening. That's when he understood the discomfort he had been feeling... how it felt knowing you'll soon be losing someone - not in death, but the reality of the impending distance between them. It's the truth, but he cannot show weakness yet, and chose to answer by factual incidence, "it's a cicada chrysalis."

"Maa... but it's already autumn," the Tensai logically responded, internally wondering what had gotten the megane engrossed and where this conversation is heading.

"Even if it hatches, I suppose it would die soon after," the tousled haired youth said thoughtfully, his hand lightly tapped beside the hybernated wonder, softening ember then turned focus to those clear sapphires, "if it weren't for this age, we also might have been able to be together."

Fujiwara, caught aback by the unexpected attachment the other boy granted him, was overwhelmed with a sudden surge of unexplainable happiness. "I'm sure that kind of age will come," he exclaimed, his soft hands gripped over Taizhoka's own reassuringly, "a day when we can be together without being captive to our social status or clan."

"A-ah. You are right," Taizhoka's embers widened in awe of the Tensai's contagious excitement, that he, too, felt a leap of faith in himself and a small smile graced his innocent lips. Though that thought was inspiring, but the reason within himself know that its realization was still far off in the future. Yet the hope burned bright in his heart. "Until an age like that comes, we can be just like this cicada, silently struggling and fighting to reform our own future."

The fire of passion- free and unwavering - warmed their hearts, bidding farewell to the tension a few minutes before. But not before long, their gazes soon lingered heatedly onto each other's, much like magnetic forces drawn to each other's strengths and vulnerabilities. But by youthful conscience, admiration unknowingly escalated to a deeper attraction... simmering... the passion they felt now brew a new meaning they couldn't yet explain.

Against the dark zen garden, illuminated only by the silver full moon, their forms slowly drew closer until their bodies were pressed together. Taizhoka's right hand snaked around the Tensai's slim waist possessively, as his left lifts the latter's angelic face up toward his own. Fujiwara respondingly wrapped his arms around the taller youth's neck. Embers and sapphires glow in glazed affection, the silken veils slowly drew the curtains close... warm breathes rhythm deep and short... and their supple pink lips touched, endearingly soft and enticingly moist... a chaste and innocent experience... The feeling was confusing, yet the connection was undeniable. There was no time to think about anything, as all they instinctively felt was sincerity and belonging. It was a first afterall - their first encounter with the trials of love. And as both youth breathlessly parted, their bodies succumbing to earthen ground, they relentlessly held onto each other in reassurance of mutual consent.

Taizhoka's back leaned against the tree trunk, as he warmly embraced Fujiwara in his arms. Their feelings, no matter how childish it may seem, was purer than any means. But they both knew that once this twilight dream wakes, things will never be the same, no matter how much they wanted to believe what they both know would never be. Their time together was trickling down fast, and so they had chosen to spend those remaining time together... until the last second they could relive that ethereal moment in their current life. A wish and a promise witnessed by the shimmering bluish-sliver paired rings hanging on both their neck, it's simple but artistic golden lining seranading sweet lullabies.

"... until that day comes, I wish I could sleep as that cicada does..."

"mnnh~"

The adorable moan woke the Tensai from his sweet reverie, softly chuckling, as he watched those beloved sharp embers slowly sprang to life.

Tezuka slowly shifted his head, which he had since been resting on Fuji's lap, and noted that the morning sun had already set. "How long have I been sleeping?"

"Not that long," Fuji answered, gently stroking his lover's sandy brown locks. "Did you have a wonderful dream?"

The megane shifted his head forward, so that his embers are now gazing back at his precious koibito, an almost invisible smile played on his lips. "Ah. A precious memory..."

The Shinigami angel's cerulean gem peeked curiously, as he hummed in askance. "Hmm~?"

Their gazes met, a pleasant dance of understanding and trust glimmer, as Tezuka answered honestly, "... our first kiss."

"Saa..." his smiled glowed brightly, amused that even in simple reverie, both of them shared one thought. Fuji knew, even without his beloved Seigi's words, that they are truly made for each other... soulmates.

Tezuka got himself asit, leaned on the tree, and lovingly pulled the Tensai in his warm embrace. Fuji giggled at this rare 'public' display of affection, to which the former responded with tightened his hold possessively. Love doesn't need to be flashy, for perfect couple, it just needed to be true. In that sweet serenity, they continued to watch the ondigo horizon court the bashful dusk, offering her a serenade of a thousand blooming stars. It was a majestic sight to behold specially in the cooling season, but nothing could ever win over the gift of life and second chance.

"Oh, look, it's a winter cicada~" quipped Fuji, as his soft had lightly nudge boyfriend's attention towards the flying little gift.

"Hn." Tezuka kissed his lover's crown, knowing well how much the mere presence of that cicada meant to both of them. "In this age we are finally able to be together."

"Hai~" the Tenshi affirmed softly, as he turned himself to face his one and only master, his sapphires softly whispering hymns of dedication.

Warm embers were drawn willingly to his most trusted vassal's faithfulness. Tezuka couldn't help but omit what remained of the cold distance between them, as he kissed his saviour's temple... cheek... nose... his forehead devotedly pressed onto his beloved' own, as he relayed his vow, "I love you with all my heart, Syuusuke."

Fuji's smiled genuinely, as bright blossoms blushed his fair complexion. Like magnet, he will never - not that he ever wanted to - be able to resist this admirable man's affection, and laced his arms around Tezuka's neck as personal offering, "I love you come what may, Kunimitsu."

Tezuka slowly leaned his head closer to his lover's ethereal beauty, passion-driven yet in all sense pure, captured Fuji's supple pink lips. Their tongues slipped fluently in sensual tango, as their hands resisted the temptation of carnal desire, chasting the nymphos to innocent bliss.

Sealing their ever after with an endearing kiss... A kiss that lit the fire of forevermore in their hearts - christened by the soft fluttering of pristine nyebe's first flight, and blessed by eternity's happiness.

I await for your honest opinion of my returning project. Thanks~ ˚ω˚ ˊ▽ˋ
