The Song That Never Ends
By: M14Mouse
Summary: Music just doesn't come from the radio but also from the people around you.
Disclaimer: Don't own them.
When Neku first started reading people's inner thoughts, it did creep him out.
A lot.
He felt like some stalker.
Sure, some thoughts were innocent enough…
It'd be so sweet to live in Shibuya-
I could ride everywhere on my bike!
But rent's what, 200,000 yen a month for a two-bedroom?
I should just save up for a car.
Strange enough….
Ahhh, the start of another beautiful day!
I'm so psyched about my amazing posture.
That full-body cast really is working!
Creepy enough…
This is first year I've had a boyfriend for Christmas.
Finally, I can fulfill my fantasy:
To have my own personal Santa!
If he dressed up in the suit…
And maybe let me sit on his lap….
Funny enough…
AHHHH, My HAIR'S GONE!
AHHHH!
…Oh wait, never mind.
My extensions came out, that's all.
Soon…their thoughts sort of lyrics to a song.
Sometimes, the chords were smooth and gentle. Sometimes, the chords were like lighting and hit right into your heart.
It would blend together to make their own music weather that it was good or bad.
It was the song of Shibuya.
His friends…and "partners" had their own individual songs as well.
Shiki remembered him of an over played pop song like Survivor by Destiny's Child. He remembered when it first came out. He hated that song. They would play that song over and over again. Its lyrics would pour into the shopping malls and radio stations.
It remained him of her constant speeches about being partners…about being friends….on how they should work together.
But slowly…like the song did, it grew on him.
He began to understand the song…and more so…his partner and friend.
In end…much like the song with corny lyrics, he ended up liking his partner.
End up burning the song to a cd.
Not a soul will ever know about that.
His partnership with Joshua is…was complicated.
Even all of this time, he still has mixed feelings. Probably always will have those feelings.
Joshua remained him of a heavy metal song.
Loud and annoying.
His attitude made him want to punch him in the face half the time.
Most of the time, it had to do with his anger.
The lies…the half truths…and most of all…
He still doesn't understand why Joshua shot him. He couldn't understand period. It bothered him quite a bit.
No matter how much he thought about it.
He moved past it. He had too.
Then came Beat and Rhythm. He couldn't really describe one without the other. Rhythm kind of reminded him of that tranquil music that they play on their machines in the store.
Or classical music.
She has this calm influence over a group. She was the peacemaker and wise beyond her years.
She had to be…when dealing with Beat.
Beat would probably kill him for saying this…but Beat reminded him of a country song.
He is loud and he could read every emotion that cross his face. Just like those country songs on the radio that scream of partying, girls, love stories, break ups, breakdowns and home. He was like Taylor Swift.
Heh…HAHA…Beat would kill him.
Yet…he was glad for his friendship…for all of their friendships.
They opened his eyes.
Opened his heart.
For that…he is forever grateful.
End
