Maggie Jordan was very confused.

It wasn't a new feeling. She'd been confused most of her life. As a child and through early adolescence she was that awkward girl that didn't quite fit in. In high school, well…she'd blocked most of that out.

It got better in college. She met people like her. She found her niche, what she was good at, her passion.

She worked hard, always had. Even so, despite her eagerness to please something always seemed to go wrong.

She knew Georgia was a country. In the back of her mind, she knew LOL meant 'laughing out loud' to the general populace. She chalked it up to her insecurities…her infallible ability to speak or act before thinking. She'd never grown out of it.

Matters of the heart confused her most.

Especially now…since the day Jim Harper stumbled into her life. Literally, he actually tripped over luggage.

And he was sweet and funny and awkward…just like her.

She always thought she had a good thing with Don. Despite outward appearances Don was a good man. He was strong and supportive and she knew he really loved her. Yes, they fought and broke up and got back together a lot. More than a lot. But that was passion right?

Isn't that what love is supposed to feel like?

Hot and cold and not knowing which way is up - like you're spinning, spinning, spinning and so dizzy you can't see your world or yourself straight?

Or…

Was it a warm tingle washing over you - like being covered by your favorite quilt that just fits against you like a second skin and you're finally home and being you is enough?

Maybe it was neither. Maybe it was both.

Maggie was more confused than ever.

Mostly because she didn't know and more so, because she wasn't sure which version she wanted.

AN's: Took some liberties with Maggie's past but I think it fits. I wrote this not only for Maggie's confusion but for my own. I've been shipping Maggie/Jim since the first episode but Don has been growing on me lately…anyway, I hope you enjoyed! Please review and tell me what you think!
