"Something's up. I don't know what but something big is gonna happen soon and I don't like it." He said this with such intensity that it almost startled her, considering, a few seconds ago they were laughing about something his little sister said.

"What are you talking about Gale?" She replied, somewhat confused.

"In the mines, people are starting to say things. There's talk of a rebellion."

"There's always been talk, I'm sure-"

"This is different." He cut her off. "It's never been this bad before." He paused for a moment his face changing from an expression of anger to one of worry. "I'm just scared Madge, I don't want anything to happen to you. I love you."

"I love you too." She smiled and then gave him a soft, reassuring peck on the lips. "Don't worry, everything will be fine."

"If anything happens I promise I will come find you. I won't let anything hurt you." The rest of the night was spent, as usual, curled up together in the meadow watching the stars.

The next day he was supposed to be at her house to watch the games with her. That's what they did every day since Katniss and Peeta both went back into the arena. Madge knew she couldn't handle it alone, and although he would never admit it, Gale knew he wouldn't be able to either. So they decided that they would watch it together.

"He should be here by now." She thought to herself. "Where is he?"

Just then, she was jolted off her feet by an explosion that came from the other side of the Square.

"Gale was right." She said as she started to panic. She knew it wasn't safe anymore. She had to get out of the house. She picked herself up off the floor and ran for the back door. But when she was finally outside she realized that her mother was still inside the house and she had to get her out.

But before she made it back inside another bomb hit. This one fell right next to her house, causing it to collapse, partially burying her under a pile of rubble.

This was it. Madge knew she was going to die here. But where was Gale? He promised to protect her. Surely he would have seen the hovercrafts coming and he would have reached her house in time. Right?

Just as she took her last breath on last thought entered her mind.

"He didn't come."

A/N I know this is probably horrible but it is my first fic and I am in no way a writer but I just decided to write something so here it is! Please tell me if I made any mistakes and if you think there is any way for me to improve. Thanks!
