The Boy, Who Wanted To Help
Tsuna sat opposite Takeshi. He sat on the bed while Takeshi was seated opposite of him in a chair. Takeshi had brought him to this small hotel in the city, after he had saved Tsuna's life. The two chatted for quite a while now.
"I just wanted to help. So many against one is just not fair."
"And I'm very, very grateful for that, but it was still really dangerous," said Tsuna. Before Yamamoto could say something about it, Tsuna's mobile phone turned on. Spanner's name appeared on the screen.
"Sorry, I have to take that." Tsuna stood up and went straight into the small adjoining bathroom.
There he took the call quickly. "Yes? What is it?"
"I have new information for you," Tsuna heard Spanner's voice. In the background, someone screamed around. Probably Gokudera.
"What kind of information?"
"Quite near you, there is a construction site, which will soon be a new base of Vongola if we do nothing. Lucky for you, today in a meeting of local residents' members an extremely precarious document will be passed. In short, this construction is not completely legal and this paper proves it."
"And you just thought, I should go break it up?" That was a joke now, right? The sun was already going under, ergo Tsuna had no opportunity to prepare for it. It was sorta a trip into the blue.
"Yep. Best of luck." Hook. You've got to be kidding me?
After he dropped the phone into his pocket, Tsuna touched cool mirror with his head. "So I should break into a probably heavily guarded building-to-be - a new base of Vongola - , and disturb any meeting in order to steal a document that prevents the further construction without any clever information. Sounds simple," Tsuna said sarcastically. "Oh, and best unnoticed." Why couldn't any of his self-appointed mission actually be simple?
"I could help you," announced Takeshi suddenly. The door to the bathroom was open and he leaned against the door frame.
Tsuna turned his head in Yamamoto's direction. "Do you even know what you're suggesting here?" He asked quietly.
"You want to steal something from the huge construction site, just outside the city. I can take you there and help you get what you want," Takeshi offered smiling.
Tsuna pushed himself with both hands from the wall, and turned to the other boy completely. "You want to help me do something illegal?" Tsuna asked, slightly skeptical.
"I've knocked a man out for you today, without even knowing your name. Call it a gut feeling, but I think that what you'll find there is important in some way." Yamamoto had a clear look in his eyes and serious face.
Tsuna stared at him for a few minutes, then nodded. "If you're sure that you want that."
"Do not worry, I am." Then Takeshi went back into the room.
When Tsuna wanted to close the bathroom door behind him, his hand froze on the door handle. Just now he had been too distracted to notice it, but now that he had time for other thoughts again, it struck him instantly.
I'm pretty sure that I locked the door behind me as I went into the bathroom...
"Hey, Tsuna, are you coming?" Cried Yamamoto, who was already at the door to the hallway. His sword was well packed in a long bag on his back. So he always had immediate access to his weapon. Why does Yamamoto, a civilian, even have a sword around all the time? Until now he hadn't let it out of his sight.
Tsuna felt for his gun. His fingers brushed over a cold, smooth surface. It calmed Tsuna to know that he was not defenseless. He took the backpack from the bed and then went to the door. "I'm already there," he said to Takeshi. He simply nodded to him only once, grinning and then went out. Before the door to the room slammed shut, Tsuna let his eyes roam over the dark room one last time.
...then how could Takeshi so easily come into the bathroom without me noticing it?
The two arrived at the construction site after a short time. On the way there, they didn't rum into unplanned surprises. Yamamoto suggested to search the floors separately. Tsuna agreed. It was dark, so it would cost a lot of time to search every floor together, and they could hide easily in an emergency.
The building itself towered six stories into the sky and the whole thing looked actually pretty deserted. Although Tsuna had his doubts about the whole affair, Spanner's information had never been wrong before.
Tsuna had already brought two floors without success behind him and wondered if Takeshi had more luck than him. He stood at the edge of the floor, staring into the dark night sky, when his phone vibrated once more.
Before Tsuna could say anything, tensioSpanner yelled at him through the line. "Be careful! They have sent an assassin your way!"
"Wait! What? Who..."
A metallic whirring hissed through the air 'til metal hit metal. The mobile phone hit the ground. The call not interrupted.
Tsuna sat against a metal brace. A sword ate just over his head into the metal brace.
"So now you show your true colors."
Takeshi only grinned back at him. Something very dangerous lay in his eyes. Almost a bit predatory.
Tsuna smiled wryly. "Somehow, I liked the role of the helpful boy a lot more."
