'Welcome to Goldenrod City, we'd like to ask that all passengers please remove all luggage and personal items, as this will be our last stop for the day,'
Gary stirred awake as his means of transport, jerked to a stop. He stood though wobbled slightly, still a bit disoriented after just waking up, as the intercom above his head starts giving out directions on where to exit. Glancing around as he begins gathering his belongings, he isn't surprised to see that there are no other passengers, as he had taken the last scheduled time out for the day. He politely waves away one of the attendants when they ask if he needs any assistance, as he takes down his luggage from the overhead.
Grabbing his bag from the bench, he slings it across his shoulder and front,
'We'd like to wish you all a nice night and thank you for riding with us on the Magnet Train,'
Before walking out the exit, as the electronic doors slid open.
Stepping out onto the platform, he passes what looked to be the only security guard on duty and waves as the uniformed man smiles at him with tired out eyes, while trying to suppress an incoming yawn.
Gary cringes, immediately sympathizing remembering all those times back at the lab when he had to work through the night trying to finish up research, and this poor guy looked like he's just been stuck with the graveyard shift.
He's barely sitting down on one of the platform's white plastic chairs when his cell chimes in his front pants pocket alerting him of an incoming call, and he grapples for it.
"What's up Gramps?" he asks holding the phone up to his ear.
"Gary, my boy, how did you know it was me?"
Gary smiled and rolled his eyes. "Caller ID Gramps"
"Ah, yes, this new technology still confuses me, and these little buttons," Gary smiles and tries to stifle a laugh amused by his grandfather's exasperation with new technology.
"So did you manage to make it there safely?"
"I managed. I actually just stepped onto the platform not even five minutes ago. Now I'm just waiting for Bill. We plan on traveling through the night, so we should make it to Olivine by morning. It where everyone's saying they last saw Ash."
Gary listens as his grandfather lets out a tired sigh at the end of the phone.
"I'd just like to let you know how much Mrs. Ketchum appreciates you doing this for her Gary. She's been worrying herself sick, though I've tried my best to calm her down."
Things suddenly became solemn and he nods though he knows his grandfather can't see him. "Yeah, this just isn't like him. He was supposed to be home days ago, and if this all really is nothing and something did come up, I know he would have at least called first."
He hears his grandfather hum in agreement. "In any case Gary I'm glad you're doing this"
"It's no problem Gramps" He pauses for several seconds before letting out a shaky breath.
"Gary?" His grandfather asks sounding worried.
". . . . I'm going to find him Gramps" He finally says.
There's a silence on the other line for a few brief moments before he hears the words, "I know you will"
"I'm not coming back until I find him"
" . . . . I know"
