Chapter 7: Secrets and Lies

How long has it been? A minute? An hour? A year? Canary couldn't tell, but she didn't care as long as she held her Carrier tightly, afraid that she'll disappear if she let go. Canary couldn't remember being this happy in her life, aside from seeing Optimus again after fifty stellar cycles.

"Am I dreaming?" Canary asked tentatively, looking at Blackarachnia with coolant filled optics. "Are you really here?"

"I am sweetspark," Blackarachnia assures her daughter with a smile, her appendages twitching slightly as she gently pries her off. She wipes off any remaining coolant that leaked from Canary's optics. "...I'm so sorry, Canary."

"For what?" Canary asked, looking at her Carrier's ashamed look. "You didn't do anything wrong."

Blackarachnia lets out a bitter chuckle, forcing a sad smile. "Trust me, leaving you to think that I was gone is part of the category of wrong. For fifty stellar cycles...you were alone...and I'm sorry."

Canary smiles softly, touching her hand and made a soothing gesture. "It's okay Carrier, there's nothing to apologize for, especially since I know that you're online."

Suddenly, Canary realizes this, and nearly exclaimed as she shot up. "Wait a click! You're online, and Sire doesn't know! We gotta go back, he'll be so happy to-"

"No," Blackarachnia said sharply as she held her hand, her appendages stiffen. The last thing she wanted was for Optimus to know about where she is. She looked at Canary's confused and hurt expression, sighing sadly. "I...I don't want him to know about me being here...not yet."

Carney blinked and stared at her Carrier, completely confused as she asked. "Wh-Why? Sire has to know! He misses you since you disappeared."

Blackarachnia went quiet, thinking to "choose" her words carefully. So far, Optimus didn't seem to tell Canary the actual truth about her disappearance, especially the part where she is allied with the Decepticons all this time. And if she ever found out...Primus she didn't want to begin thinking about the possible outcome. She has to think of an explanation.

"I'm...I'm a double agent," The spider techno organic lied, continuing as Canary listened. "If Optimus knew that I'm still online, he would want to...see me. But it would put him and his team in danger. Just until then...he has to think I'm still gone until it's...time."

"Oh," Canary said, processing before she frowned. "But Magnus never mentioned about a double agent being assigned here on Earth. He thinks you're offline too."

"Well, if he did, Cybertron would have been in danger. I would never forgive myself if that happens."

Canary widens her optics, then slowly nods in understanding. That kinda makes since, but still confusing. Then again, there are some bots that do this sort of thing long ago, Black Ops to be exact. So whatever happened when that day her Carrier was lost, maybe it was that time when she was chosen for this mission. Wow, and she thought that this kind of operation ceased to exist!

"Is that why you look like this?" Canary asked, looking at the appendages and those four red optics. "You're an Autobot undercover as a Con?"

Blackarachnia mentally winced, staying quiet before replying with a nod. "Yes...sort of. But it's very important that you don't tell your Sire or your team about me. For their safety."

"Okay..."

Canary watches as her Carrier gets up, looking at her fully. The Decepticon knew that she had to leave now before one of those idiots she has as allies contact her, so she said to her Creation with a frown. "I'm glad that we have a chance to meet again kiddo, but I have to go. Megatron will be suspicious from me being gone for too long."

Canary flinched, afraid for her Carrier since she's with that warlord. "Right...just be careful and don't be caught. Who knows what they'll do to you if they found out you're a spy."

"Don't worry, as far as they know...I'm practically one of them."

The young Prime smile with a small chuckle, then hugs her Carrier once more. Even if this reunion was short lived, she was so glad that she was able to see her at the very least. Hopefully soon when this whole thing is over, she would have her family together again. Oh she couldn't wait!

"You probably should head back to Optimus," Blackarachnia said to Canary, breaking the hug as she smiled tightly. "You know how much of a worrywart he is if you've been gone this long."

"Heh heh, right," Canary nods, pulling away from her Carrier before taking off into the air. "Maybe when we have the chance, we can talk some more? We've got eons to talk about!"

"...Yeah, someday. But don't count on it, it's still a bit dangerous."

With a happy nod, Canary waved goodbye to Blackarachnia before she transformed and flew off. She felt so happy, she thought her Carrier was lost forever. Now she's here and alive! Granted, not under the best circumstances, but still! Of course she promised to keep her existence a secret for now, but it'll be worth it at the end. Her family is coming back together again!

As she watches the young Prime disappear from her view, Blackarachnia then sighed in anger mixed sadness. Great, just fragging GREAT. She had to lie to her own Creation to keep her from knowing the terrible truth, just so she can save herself from rejection and hate.

"And it'll be worse if she does find out," she lamented, transforming into her spider mode and scatters off to head to the Decepticon lair. "...I'll just have to keep this up until then. But Lord Megatron...what will I do?"

Unfortunately for Canary, her problems have yet to surface.

Back At The Base

"There you are! What makes you think that heading off on your own was a fragging good idea?! If you ever pull a stunt like this again-!"

Canary landed easily on the ground after she went bipedal mode, smiling softly even when Sentinel was roaring up a storm. She honestly doesn't have a care as she walked in the base, her happy attitude tunes out that scolding voice of the Autojerk as she whistled.

"Are you even listening to me?!" Sentinel said angrily, and then blinks when she turned and tilted her head.

"Oh, sorry. What did you say?" She asked innocently, making the other Prime fume up with rage before she shrugged and walked off. "Alright, I'm seeing my Sire, so fill in that report with Jazz or whatever you were talking about."

"WHY YOU-!"

"Will you stop squawking out there?!" Ratchet's voice roared out to Sentinel as the medic came out from the infirmary, feed up with the yelling.

As the two bickered, Canary walked into the center of the base to find Optimus and his team waiting for her. The red and blue mech sighed in relief, but then noticed her injuries all over her frame.

"What in Primus' name happened!" Optimus said, going to his daughter to check her with a worried expression. "I thought you said you fell!"

"Hm? Oh, uh, I did," Canary said, rubbing the back of her helm. She didn't want them to know about her showdown with the Dinobots, so maybe telling a little white lie won't be too bad. "I was hiking up on the mountain hills nearby and I...slipped. It was a long way down, but I'm okay."

"Geez," Bumblebee said as he and the others saw those injuries. "It sure doesn't look like you fell, it looks like you took on Megatron himself!"

"Ooh, maybe she did!" Sari said excitedly, making everyone look at Canary in shock.

"Did you?!" Optimus was now more worried, making the young Prime mentally sigh when he started to jump into conclusions. "Ratchet!"

"I swear if somebot yells ONE MORE time I'm gonna throw something!"

'Well, Carrier's alive,' Canary thought to herself as her Sire fretted over her, smiling softly at the recent reunion. 'That's all that matters...now how am I gonna calm everyone down?'

Several Moments Later

"Canary, perhaps next time would be wise if somebot goes with you when you decide to scout."

Canary, all fixed and cleaned up thanks to Ratchet (whilst also getting an earful about being so reckless and stupid for going out by herself), looked at Prowl and smiles sheepishly. She and the ninjabot were on top of the base's roof, watching the stars as the night came. If she looked closely, she could see Cybertron's galaxy from Earth.

"Yeah, you're probably right," Canary nods. "But I guess I just got curious what I found on that island."

"Oh?" Prowl inquired, looking a bit uneasy. "...And have you found something there?"

"Yeah. Which is why I didn't really tell your team exactly everything...But I gotta say, Grimlock is one tough lug."

Prowl widen his optics at the Magnus-to-be, then started to say but was cut off by Canary. "I won't tell my Sire or the rest of your team, if that's what you're worried about. Those Dinobots sure seem to like you a lot."

"You've met them," Prowl said, keeping his voice low so no one would hear them. "But judging by the injuries before, it wasn't a good impression..."

"No, not really. But they eventually calmed down when they realized I'm a friend of yours. Although Grimlock seemed to be a little annoyed with me, and that goes for me to him too. Snarl and Swoop were nice enough though, so that's a start."

"Well, they're not a hot tempered as Grimlock, so it's no surprise."

The two smiled and chuckled a bit, the femme Seeker rest her chin over her propped hand as she continued to gaze up in the night skies. She was still thinking about her Carrier, worried that she might somehow be caught by the enemy if she wasn't careful. But she is very skilled, so Canary shouldn't worry too much. But still...

"Something on your processors?" Prowl asked, breaking Canary's thoughts as the cyclebot kept his optics up at the starry skies.

"Um," Canary said, blushing a bit that she was just letting her thoughts wander about her Carrier. She replied as she fiddled with her servos. "Nothing. Just thinking...about when this whole mission is over."

"Are you worried?"

"...Well, a little. I mean, when I have to go back to Cybertron and all. But...I'm not sure if I want to."

Now it was Prowl's turn to look at the young Prime, looking slightly surprised. He waits for her to continue explaining.

"I mean, it's not definite yet," Canary quickly said, looking at him as she added. "I know that it's my responsibility and all, for the good of Cybertron. It's just...I finally got to see my Sire again, and I don't think I would want to leave when I have to go. If I could find a way..."

She sighed, looking down as her wings drooped a bit. She felt a little silly now that she said it out loud, and letting it out at Prowl too. He must think of her like some kind of indecisive youngling now.

"Well, have you told them?"

Canary perked her head up, looking at the cyclebot again. He had a calm smile, nothing that showed that he was disappointed or anything.

"Huh?" Canary blinked, Prowl chuckling as he continued.

"If you really feel this way, have you ever told Ultra Magnus and Alpha Trion about your opinion?"

"Well...not really. I don't want to disappoint them, least of all my Sire."

"But you're his daughter, what you feel is just as important. Who knows, they might understand. But you won't know for sure until you tell them how you feel. Just how you had with me."

Canary stared at Prowl, processing on his advice before looking up at the skies again. The ninjabot got up, adding before he left to his quarters. "You don't have to decide now. Take your time, don't rush it. But when you do, be open on your thoughts and feelings. It'll work out Canary, I guarantee it."

As he left the femme alone with her thoughts, Canary leans back with her arms supporting her lean. Wow...Prowl knew exactly on what to say. And he wasn't quick to judge or reprimand her when she said what she felt. He listened and understood. A slow smile formed on Canary's face, sighing softly.

Prowl had a point, if telling her Sire about her feelings and not wanting to leave him might life some weight from her shoulders. But she can't rush it, she has to mentally prepare herself before she talks to Optimus. And that's okay, after all she has a groon before the time comes for her to leave; she has plenty of time before then.

'And maybe,' Canary thought as she gets up, heading back inside the base. 'When this battle against Megatron is finally over, Carrier and Sire could be together again.'

That was that one thing she looked forward to the most, and one of the reasons why she wants to stay here on Earth. She just prayed that somehow, someway, she could do just that.

As she went in the base to rest for the night, far away from high on top of the building, a mech, who was camouflaged by some kind of device that makes him invisible and undetectable, watched her with a set of binoculars. He smirked, and then looks at a holopad with the femme's picture. She matched the description, she was his bounty.

"It shouldn't be a problem to get her alone," he said, the holopad dispersing as he turned to disappear into the night. "A very hefty price for that pretty thing, not that I'm surprised."

Granted, he would have to play the waiting game until the moment was right. But he didn't mind, he was a very patient hunter after all. Waiting until his bounty dropped their guard gave him a since of thrill and satisfaction. And that Seeker looked like a promising game, especially after hearing that she single-handedly beat Blitzwing and Lugnut. She isn't too taken lightly, not to underestimate her.

:Lockdown,: A comm. link from another femme broke the hunter's musing. She sounded annoyed and impatient. :Where are you? You're late.:

:Relax sweety,: The mech Lockdown answered with a smirk, reach the ground before transforming in his vehicle mode and drives off. :Just observing the bounty of mine. Quite the looker too, if I do say so myself.:

:It's Blackarachnia fragger, and get your aft to these coordinates now!:

:My my, aren't we feisty tonight~:

Lockdown chuckled from the hiss, the comm. link cutting off before he could say anything that would drive her mad. Femmes, such unpredictable creatures of so-called Primus. If his bounty was anything like the techno-organic spider, then he was in for a real treat. He's sure his client wouldn't mind if he played with said femme, and taking those energon swords as momentous would be fine trophies for his collection of weapons of his bounties before.

Oh this will be a fine hunt for Lockdown indeed.

Allies of Downtown Detroit

Blackarachnia was fuming to say the least. Once Lockdown gets here, she has to restrain herself from destroying that bounty hunter. How dare he oggle her daughter like some kind of pleasure bot! If he ever tried anything to her when they catch her, she won't be holding back!

'...What am I worried about?' She thought as she took calming breathes. 'Canary is tough. If we're lucky, she could possibly escape...'

She shook her helm, getting a processor ache. As far as Canary knew, or she believes she knew, is that Blackarachnia was a double agent. So maybe...no, it's too risky. They have to get her, otherwise it'll jeopardize her and Canary's safety. But, Canary would be in danger anyways if they caught her, and she's her daughter for Primus' sake!

"You must be thinking so hard that you don't notice me here already," Lockdown's voice broke the silence, making Blackarachnia glare at the smirking neutral. "For shame sweety, I thought you had quick reflexes than that."

"Shut the frag up before I shut it for you," She hissed at him, her appendages twitching threateningly at him. "We have a mission for Lord Megatron, so don't scrap this up."

"Please, I'm a professional."

Blackarachnia mentally growled, but holds back before briefing the bounty hunter of their plan. As much as it hurts her to do this, she had a job to do.

And that was capturing Canary where she least expects it.

There you guys! Again, super sorry for taking so long with this chapter, but I will do my best to updates soon!
