The first time a boy looked at Eowyn, he had made sure he couldn't walk for at least a week. To say the least Eowyn and his uncle were not particularly happy. However Theodred had supperstiously thrown him a wink behind his father's back as he was ranting at Eomer, voicing his approval obvious approval at Eomer's actions. Although after he had been fully punished by his uncle, Theodred had warned that perhaps it was better to warn of potential suitors for Eowyn more subtly. Eomer agreed.

As the years went by and Eowyn grew more and more beautiful, more boys and then men began to look. Eomer carefully perfected his technique of "warning" of suitors. Eowyn to her credit, although she never found him doing anything, was always suspicious. Nonetheless Eomer was not the only one who was watching out for suitors. Theodred had his fair share of "warnings" with boys that gradually grew into men. Eventually as times grew darker and Sauron's evil grew the role to protecting Eowyn fell solely to him after his beloved cousin's death. In the end the only man that Eomer had to watch for was Grima wormtongue. It grieved him terribly that the one thing he should have been able to protect his sister from, was the one thing he couldn't. He watched as the constant light that had once surrounded Eowyn began to fade, darken and then disappear all together.

Then Faramir had come. After her near death experience in battle, it had seemed as if she was lost forever but thankfully it was not to be. Eomer had tried to be a constant presence with the pair but alas there was only one of him and he was certain that they had snuck away plenty of times. Then he had faced the prospect of three over bearing and protective brothers along with Lothiriels father, and he had begun to understand what he had put Eowyn and Faramir through. Although he had had to contend with three brothers, and was barely able to spend any time with his soon to be wife, faramir had only had to deal with im. He remembered as lothiriel and her family had arrived how all three brothers had eyed him warily. Her father Imrahil, who he considered to be a close friend, had even watched him warily. He remembered fondly the time he had tried to "kidnap" Lothiriel. He had just reached the stables and spotted Firefoot and Lothiriels mount when her youngest brother Amrothos had stepped out from behind Firefoot. His traitorous horse had glanced at him briefly before giving his undivided attention to a carrot he was lazily chewing. Eomer looks back on the memory fondly now but at the time he had been livid. Amrothos had merely grinned at him and asked nonchalantly if they were planning on going any were. Needless to say Eomer had to visibly rein in his temper and it had not helped that Lothiriel had found the whole situation very amusing.

Now as he watches his wife with their young son as they visit Faramir and Eowyn, he believes thing turned out alright. His beloved sister is married to a man who loves her more than life itself and he ended up married to middle earths most amazing woman. Yes everything turned out pretty good.
