Under the Faded Trees
Under a sky without one star,
Around me brown leaves fall.
Can no longer feel in this world,
Can no longer hear sea's call.
…
No escape from infinitude,
Do not have the gift of Men.
A gift, the doom, a light, a gloom,
Thoughts escape me yet again.
…
Only sound the broken leaves,
No bird song or melody.
Left with barren land and frigid air,
Cut off from bitter sea.
…
Ages of Lamps, and Trees and Sun,
All have come and gone.
But now I'm left in darkened world,
Where no light or love has shone.
