I've decided to cut out the vampire part cuz it just plays badly in my head.

Chapter 1: Head to Duel Academy

"You want me to go where?" I asked, slightly stunned.

"Duel Academy." My father, Seto Kaiba, said simply.

He had brown hair and blue eyes. He wore a long white sleeveless KaibaCorp-designed coat that had shoulder pads and a raised studded collar, with black sleeves from his shirt coming out from under, and extra belts in pairs strapped around his upper arms and shins.

I raised an eyebrow. "Why?"

"Some kids broke a couple of rules or somethin' and are gettin' punished by having ta' duel the Paradox Brothers." My Uncle, Joey Wheeler, said in his Brooklyn accent. (A/N: I'm so sorry if I didn't type that right! T^T )

He had dirty blond hair in a sporadic hairstyle and dark brown eyes. He wore a long blue denim open jacket with a raised collar, a white T-shirt underneath and blue jeans.

"Wait the Paradox Brothers? The some ones that you and Uncle Yugi dueled during Duelist Kingdom?"

He nodded.

"We've also had reports about a teacher who had hired them knowing full well of their reputation. We also have several other reports that all say he has absolutely no respect for the Slifer Reds and constantly targets a particular group." My Uncle Mokuba said. "We need you to go as a student and report back every now and then.

He had long wild black hair and purple-gray eyes. He wore a light brown-orange high collared vest with a long black shirt and blue jeans.

"So basically you want me to not only keep an eye on the Paradox brothers but also this teacher, AND be come a student at the school?" I summarized.

Uncle Mokuba smiled. "Basically."

I sighed. "'Kay. When do I leave?"

"How fast can ya pack?" Uncle Joey asked with a grin on his face.

"Jeez, I really hate my family sometimes." I complained.

I was sitting on my family's privet hellicarrier (A/N: think Avengers) with my laptop on my lap. I had brought Baby Dragon and Kuribon to life and they were dancing with each other in front of me.

After Uncle Joey had me pack, I was put on the helijet faster then you could say "Blue-Eyes White Dragon".

I sighed and looked down at the list of names and files on my laptop. As part of my "KaibaCorp Heir Training", Dad wants me to memorize every last student, teacher and staff member at the school.

Let's not forget I was wearing the Slifer Red uniform with my own little touch.

I had on the red jacket but it was longer, reaching my knees and instead of the red skirt I had on black jeans. I rolled up the sleeves so the went below my elbows. I also wore black fingerless gloves and the same black and red boots as the boys did, along with my gold eye of Horus energy stabilizer bracelet to keep my psychic powers on check. My Duel Academy Issued PDA was stashed in my pocket.

My icy blue eyes (like the ones my father had) looked out the window and watched as hellicarrier passed over the ocean. I couldn't help but shift my thoughts to my missing brother.

Jaden...

It's hard to believe it's only been a few of months when it feels like years since I last saw him. He was tired of not being apart of the outside world, tired of being a secret.

So he figured that running away was the best option.

Flashback

I was sitting in my brother's room on his bed. My brother was pacing around while I playing with Baby Dragon.

I looked up at him and sighed.

"Will you stop pacing like that? You're making Baby and me nervous." I told him.

He stopped in mid-pace and sighed before sitting next to me. He placed his hand on Baby's head and scratched him behind his horns and under his chin.

"Sorry. It's just… I want to explore the outside world without being afraid of being kidnapped and used against Dad," he said.

"I know what you mean but until they think that we're ready, we won't get that chance. Remember, it's for our own good." I said.

"I know but I want to be a normal kid for once!" he exclaimed, jumping up from the bed.

"Let's say that, for example, you are a regular kid. What would you do as one?" I asked.

"I would make friends, go to the park, and have sleepover. I'd even go to school!"

"But you always fall asleep during our lessons with our private tutors. What makes you think that going to a real school would change that?"

"Maybe it won't, but at least I'll have friends and fun!"

I looked down at my lap. Baby Dragon looked up at me worriedly. Deep down, I knew he was right about it all but I read between the lines.

A normal life meant leaving Mom and Dad.

I couldn't do that to them…

"Then are you saying that, if you had the chance, you would leave this place and everyone you love behind?" I asked not looking up at him. "Are you willing to beak Mom's Heart?! Break mine?! If you are truly that heartless that you are willing to abandon your family, then fine! Go to wherever you want! Go to the moon! See If I care! The next time I see you I'll feed you to Red Eyes!" I ran out of his room with Baby Dragon in my arms and tears in my eyes, ignoring his calls.

I shut the door to my room and locked it. I slid down the door and cried while Baby Dragon tried to comfort me.

How could he do this to us?

To me!?

Why do guys always do things like this?

They promise to never leave you and then they go and do it anyway.

The next day I walked into my brother's room to find it empty. The window was opened with a rope ladder hanging out of it.

I can't believe it.

He really left.

Baby flew over to his bed and landed by the night table. He picked up a note and passed it to me.

'Dear Kai,

I'm sorry for leaving like this but I'm going to do it. I'm going to have a normal life for once.

I know that what I said hurt you and I'm sorry.

I hope one day you could forgive me.

Always know that no matter what I say or do, I still love you baby sis.

Tell Mom and Dad that I'm sorry and give everyone my goodbyes.

-Love, Your Brother.'

Everything went down hill from there.

End

I was brought out of my thoughts when the video chat function on my laptop rang.

Without looking, I answered it.

"Hello, you've reached Kaida. How may I be of service to you today?" I said, adding sarcasm to my question.

"Is this any way to speak to your old friend?" A familiar voice said.

I looked down at my laptop to see one of my two Best friends, Zane Trusedale. He had dark blue hair and steel colored eyes and was wearing the white version of the Obelisk blue boy's uniform.

I smiled. "Hey Zane. What's up?"

"Not much except that my brother and his friend are in a punishment duel." He said.

"I heard about that but I didn't know who was in it. I'm actually on my way to the academy right now to see it." I told him, pushing up my glasses.

He raised an eyebrow. "Why?"

"My Dad and uncles sent me to make sure they don't do anything that would hurt the school and to check out this teacher who targets a group of Slifers. Know anything about that?"

"Sounds like Dr. Crowler. The group he targets is my brother and his friends. He's upset that one of my brother's friends, Jaden, beat him in a duel at the entrance exam."

I froze at the name. "What did you say?"

He looked me dead in the eye. "Jaden, your brother, is my brother's friend."

"How long?"

"A few months. Goes by the name Jaden Yuki so no one knows he's a Kaiba."

"You knew he was there and didn't tell me?" I could feel my anger rise as strands of my hair started to float.

"Kai, the only reason I didn't tell you was because I wasn't sure if it was him. I knew it was him after I beat him in a duel and that was only a few days ago. He didn't seem to recognize me but I'm positive it's him."

I sighed, my hair falling flat. "I'm sorry Zane."

He smiled. "It's quite alright. Now when are you arriving so I could meet you."

I smiled back. "I should be arriving within the next hour or so. Think you could help me with my stuff? I need a big strong guy to carry my luggage."

"Don't you have a couple of your father's bodyguards with you?"

"Not really."

"Why not?" Zane asked. "Wouldn't your parents have sent them with you?"

"Because, I'm trying to keep a low profile at school. Dad thought it would be better not to have bodyguards around and I agree with him." I told him. "No one but you and Chancellor Sheppard know that I'm a Kaiba. Besides, you and I can have some bonding time since we haven't seen each other in like a year."

He shook his head, a smile on his face. "I shouldn't have asked. I've got to go, I'll see you soon."

I grinned. "Bye! Love you Zaney!"

He rolled his eyes. "Goodbye Kaida." Then the screen went black.

I closed the chat application and played with my duelcard locket.

"So Jay's there and he's the other duelist. Interesting..." I thought aloud.

"Kuri?" Kuribon asked.

"Well, we'll go meet up with Zane once we land and then we'll go to the duel. I'm gonna have to keep a close eye on this Dr. Crowler."

"Who is he anyway? Didn't your Dad send you files on all the teachers?" Baby dragon asked.

I blinked in realization.

My Dad did send me the teacher files!

I opened up the files on the teachers and accessed the file on one Dr. Vellian Crowler.

Vellian Crowler is the head professor and department chair of techniques at Duel Academy.

I raised an eyebrow.

This guy was a department chair?

With the way he was dressed, for a second he was some kind of mascot.

That or a cross dresser…

Vellian Crowler is a professor of the Obelisk Blue dormitory at Duel Academy.

According to past reports, whenever someone tries to figure out Crowler's gender, he gets angry and prefers to be called "Doctor," claiming to have a "Ph.D in dueling"

There's such a thing?

Last year he cut a third of the student applicants for referring to him as "Mr." or "Mrs." or something along those line.

What a whack job!

And Daddy is letting him continue to teach there?

I shook my head tiredly, and continued to read the files.

Today just gave me a headache.

That's it! Tell me what you think!

So I changed up her look a bit and some of the dialogue to replace any lines that had anything to do with vampires.

And to make things clear: when Kai talks to her she hears actual words but to everyone else who can't see or hear spirits, all they hear are growls and things like that.

Think of it as how Jaden can hear Jesse's Crystal Beast cards and Chazz's Ojamas.

And I'll have pics of Kaida up on my DeviantArt page soon.
