Smile
Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar: the Last Airbender. If I had, someone would have noticed by now.
Warning: Maybe not quite so much yaoi, but shounen-ai if you stand on your head for ten minutes and then twirl around really fast and fall on your face.
"Smile!"
A lone arm wrapped around his shoulders as the other smiled, holding up a camera.
The flash stung his naturally gold eyes and he was momentarily blind. He blinked, trying to see the small boy standing in front of him with the camera.
"You're not smiling," he pouted.
"I don't like smiling." he walked around the boy ogling at him and continued down the empty trail.
"But you have to smile sometime!" he cried, running after him.
"Actually, Avatar, I don't."
The boy frowned at what he was called, but followed. "You have to be happy enough to smile sometime."
The Prince was silent, refusing to speak. In truth, he used to smile, his mother had always made him happy. But now… he had no reason.
"Zuko, don't be so emo. We're supposed to be having fun!"
Zuko watched the young monk as he marched ahead of him, snapping pictures here and there.
"What are you taking so many pictures of?!" the prince demanded, annoyed from the continuous clicking noises.
"Nature," the boy answered, turning. "Doesn't it just look so beautiful and peaceful?"
"It would be more peaceful if you stopped snapping pictures," he responded with a sigh.
The boy let the camera, still in his hand, fall to his side.
The prince blinked at the boy's crest-fallen expression. "Ava-"
"Call me Aang, Zuko."
He cleared his throat. "Aang," he repeated, the name sounding strange on his lips. "I didn't-"
"It's fine Zuko, I know." The boy smiled kindly, dazzling the scarred boy.
Zuko sighed, he knew the avatar was very wise for his young age, but never had he experienced it firsthand like this. He looked away, he'd never hear the end of it if Katara even thought that Aang was upset. Especially when the monk had spent time only with him today. He wrapped an arm around the boy, pulling him closer to fit in the picture. He nudged the boy out of his shock, then snapped the picture. He walked away after it was taken, a small blush across his cheeks.
Aang watched him start walking away and then looked at the picture. He grinned: Zuko was smiling.
