Finally. The Kanima was gone, and the adrenaline driving Stiles, the will that was keeping himself and Derek afloat in this pool, was breaking. Derek was getting his movement back, and so as soon as the beast was gone, they made their way to the edge of the pool, struggling to climb out. Stiles fell onto the cement ground, shaking and shivering, while Derek seemed…well, pretty okay.

"Stiles, come on," Derek stated, getting to his feet. "We have to get out of here."

"C-can't," Stiles shook his head, his teeth chattering wildly. They had been in that pool for a long time, it hadn't been comfortable, and his body was paying for the adrenaline that had kept them both alive now.

"Yes you can, come, get up."

"Too cold. Can't…can't stand up." It was true, Stiles' lips were blue, and his body was shaking so badly that it would have been impossible for him to stand on his own.

"Fine." Derek grabbed the boy, charging from the pool all the way back to the Stilinksi house. He took Stiles in his window and dropped him on the bed. Instantly, he began ripping the wet clothes from the boy's body.

"Derek, stop!" Stiles looked up, alarmed. "What are you doing?"

"You're body temperature isn't high enough," he stated, pulling the covers around Stiles' naked body before pulling off his own soaked clothes.

"Whoa, stop, what the hell are you doing?" Stiles was even more alarmed as a naked Derek climbed under the covers next to him.

"Body heat," he stated, wrapping his arms around Stiles and pulling him close. "If you're not careful, you'll get hypothermia, but if we heat you up too quickly, a whole host of things could go wrong," he stated.

"So what's wrong with just the blankets?" Stiles asked, his voice weak.

"Trust me," Derek whispered. "Body heat is better. You held me up in that pool for two hours." He looked directly into Stiles' brown eyes. "Let me hold you now."

"Fine." Stiles was too tired, too weak to argue. That had been grueling, even with the buoyancy that the water provided, making Derek's body lighter. By the end, it had seemed as though the alpha was a sack of bricks.

Derek pulled Stiles closer, rubbing his hands up and down the shivering boy's sides, warming him a little more with every touch, the friction causing him to heat up slowly, but surely. Somewhere in the mix, Stiles, weak from exhaustion, fell asleep.

When Stiles woke up after a few hours, Derek was asleep, his arms still draped around the boy's body. It took Stiles a minute to remember where he was or why Derek was next to him, holding him. With a small sigh, he settled back down, curling once again into Derek's grasp, allowing himself to, for just a little bit longer, be held and comforted by the slightly older man. It wasn't such a bad feeling, he thought, being held like this, feeling warm and safe, in the arms of someone else. With that thought on his mind, he closed his eyes and fell back asleep to the soothing sounds of Derek's breathing.
