The first time she saw him, she was curious.
His eyes were a haunting shade of green, taunting and tantalizing as they focused on her. So intense, his gaze sent a shiver down her spine.
They were sitting in a bar she frequented and favored because of its cheap drinks and close proximity to her job. She didn't drink often, but when she did, she preferred to go somewhere safe and familiar. Everyone knew her there and welcomed her, but she particularly liked that she was left alone to drink and attempt to get away from the sadistic nature of her job. Her job was her life, her calling, but that didn't mean it was easy or she enjoyed going in every single day. More and more lately, it seemed, she was dreading going to work, and it concerned her. Maybe what she needed was to lose control for a few hours, or even a night. She was very rigid and unwilling to let her guard down, but it was entirely possible that was exactly what she needed.
To her surprise, the man across the bar stood up and approached her. His stride was confident and lazy, and strands of his dark brown hair fell onto his forehead.
Olivia watched him, not allowing herself to think, but simply to feel. Something was familiar about him, though she was certain she had never met him before.
But after that night, she would never forget him.
The next morning, Olivia awoke with a pounding in her head and a dryness in her mouth. Her entire body ached in a pleasant way, and she was naked, twisted in her sheets. Beside her, she felt someone breathing deeply, and she smiled as she turned onto her side and studied his face.
A few moments later, Mike's green eyes slowly opened, and a lazy, self-satisfied smile curved his handsome mouth.
"Morning."
Olivia returned his smile. "Good morning."
It was a good morning, indeed.
The End.
