John Sheppard sat at his desk in Atlantis reading an email. It was a very strange way to find out about someone's death. Bryan had been a member of John's team during the war, but they'd lost touch after the fiasco in Afghanistan. Shortly after, Bryan had left the Air Force.

At first there had been a smattering of letters and postcards, but eventually those stopped. The last he'd heard, Bryan had been flying small airliners, so it came as a shock to find out he'd also been flying water bombers.

He stared at the email for a little while longer, before doing the only thing he could: he said a silent goodbye to his lost friend and went back to the task of trying to save some other people the pain he was feeling.

I rarely write such short stories but I penned this after discovering a friend of mine's husband had died in a email. I was so overwhelmed with emotions that I had to sit down and write... something. Even now over two years later I still have a flash of those feels when I read this.

I've posted another new SGA flashfic on my website Google my pen name and you'll find it.

Now to all you who loved The Man He Sees. The story I'm posting takes place after and will end up being a thread in the longer story. Yes, I am working on more. It's just that I'm trying to finish up another series, Academy Daze, and all my time is going into that. I'm working on the last story now (This series has been five stories long) and I hope to get back to it soon. I started it last year as part of my NaNoWrMo, but it's a bit of a mess. This thread might end up in there as well, not sure yet.

I hope you will leave a comment with your thoughts.
