What's this? After three years of silence, this story got a sudden update? Is it a DREAM?! No, it's no dream! I've just been in the mood to give this story another chapter, given how much time has passed. I hope you all enjoy it!

Three months. It's been three months since Kyon's second birthday party. After how it ended, you'd think that afterwards the two of us dating would be the OBVIOUS continuation, right? Well no. Clearly, Kyon doesn't think that way. To be fair, our relationship was still a little rocky even after I had managed to haphazardly put it all back together. But after 3 months I figured everything would be back to normal!

For the past 2 weeks I've even stealthily brought up the idea of us dating with some of the activities we've been doing. Like when we all saw a movie! We went to see a romantic comedy, definitely not one of my usual choices, or when we went to an amusement park on Valentine's Day! But still, Kyon continues to dodge the subject.

Which means I need to take the direct approach. That's who I am!

Right now, we're all sitting in the clubroom. Kyon and Koizumi are playing some stupid game, while Yuki and Mikuru are out doing something. Whatever that might be. All I could do was browse the internet and hopefully find some kind of event going on that we could all go to.

"Ms. Suzumiya?"

Koizumi suddenly caught my attention, "Yeah?"

"I'm sorry to say, but I've actually got some classwork I need to take care of today." A small smile grew on my face. "Would it be acceptable for me to leave early?"

I scratched my chin, considering on what to do. Obviously, he has to go. "Fine, you're permitted to leave early."

He smiled, bowed and began cleaning up the game. "We'll pick up next time, Alright?"

Kyon frowned, "Yeah yeah. You were cheating anyway." He waved Koizumi off, looking to the left.

"I wouldn't dream of cheating!" He responded with obvious sarcasm. He finished packing up and waved goodbye, "Thank you again, Ms. Suzumiya!" With that, Koizumi left the clubroom and it was now just the two of us.

For about a minute, I was trying to work up the courage to say something to him. Kyon was clearly looking around for something to do. "Well, I guess if there's nothing you want to do today, I'll—"

"Hold it!" I jumped up and held out my finger.

Kyon froze and looked at me nervously, "W-What?"

My mouth felt like it was sewn shut, I had to think of something. "We… We still have something we need to do!"

Confusion was written all over his face, obviously he doesn't get what I'm talking about.

"D-Don't think I haven't noticed Kyon!" I stood up from my bending position and began walking around, my index finger wagging in the air, matter-of-factly. "The reason I let Koizumi leave early, and why Mikuru and Yuki aren't here is because you and I have a problem!" I stopped and pointed at him, a big smile on my face.

However, his wasn't the same. He gave me a dirty look that was filled with suspicion. "What are you getting at? I don't have any problem with you."

"Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Kyon, you and I haven't been bonding very much lately, I feel like the connection between the brigade leader and her subordinate is incredibly weak!" I crossed my arms, he knows where this is going. "So, you and I are going out to eat!"

"But—"

"And you're paying!"

He grumbled.

With that, he and I left the clubroom and went on our way. The two of us went to Kyosuke's restaurant. Greeted by none other than the incredibly cute waitress and Kyosuke's sister, Kirino! "Hello, Ms. Suzumiya! It's been a while!"

I waved and smiled, "Hi! How are you?"

We talked small talk for a little bit before another table called her over, "Oh I need to go. I'll tell my brother you're here okay? I'll bring your drinks and food too!"

Kyon begrudgingly sat at the table, his arms crossed and him staring daggers at me. "What's this about, Haruhi?"

"Whatever do you mean?" I smiled and placed my chin in my hand. "I just think you and I have been kind of distant, don't you think?"

"I guess. But why go out to eat?"

"What better way for brigade members to bond then over some delicious food! And we've got a discount too!" I smiled wide and stretched a bit. "Besides, we haven't had a relaxing day for a while, have we?"

Kyon scoffed, "Since when do you ever want to just 'relax'?"

"Since today! Does it matter to you, Kyon?" His snarky attitude is at full power today.

"A little bit, but if you just want to go out to eat then that's fine by me. Eating is all I'll do." A devious smile spread across his face as he leaned in, making me think he's beginning to figure me out…

"W-Well I mean, we can do more than eat, Kyon." I scratched my head and smiled.

He gave a small laugh, "Nope, I think I'm just in the mood to eat right now. Unless there was some other reason you brought me here? Besides eating together I mean."

Obviously, Kyon was able to deduce why I really brought him here… If he knows, why doesn't he say anything? Does he want me to say it? Why should I say it?! The guy is supposed to say it! If he knows then he should say something! Even if I'm used to being direct, even this is a topic I'm not too comfortable with… "Well—"

Suddenly, our food arrived. "Alright! Two deluxe Cheeseburgers for Kyon and Haruhi! Can I get you both anything else?" Kirino smiled, unaware that she had cut me off.

"N-No, we're fine! Thanks!" She smiled and hopped away, getting to the other customers.

Kyon stretched and pulled out his hands, "Well I guess it's time to eat." He picked up his burger and smiled. "Great idea to come here, Haruhi. I'm famished." He took a bite and began to stuff his face.

Meanwhile, I'm getting increasingly frustrated at his cheeky attitude. Anyone with half a brain would be able to figure out that Kyon knows why I brought him, but he's going to make me come out and say it, isn't he?

I mean, I told him I loved him 3 months ago, so obviously he knows my ulterior motives… But then why is he waiting on me? It doesn't make any sense. "L-Listen uh, Kyon?"

"Hmm?" He looked up, food still in his mouth. "Didsh shuu shay sumfin?" He said with his mouth half full.

"I… I uh, did have another reason for bringing you here today." I had only eaten a couple of my fries, trying to work up my courage.

He smiled and swallowed his food, wiping his face with a napkin. "Really? Well then let's hear it. I mean you haven't touched your food, so it must be important."

I breathed in and out. "Alright, Kyon. I told you how I felt three months ago, and I know things were a bit rocky for a while. But it's been 3 months and… I want your answer!" I leaned in close, my face filled with determination.

Even if he had figured it out, I doubt he expected me to be so direct so quickly, so when I leaned in he leaned back. Taken aback by my sudden declaration. "W-Well…" Now it's HIS turn to be all defensive. "See the thing is, Haruhi…"

I leaned in further, "Kyon, I know we had a rocky start but… I really want to… go out with you." My face was burning at this point, but I did my best to hide it.

He looked conflicted, I can tell at the very least that he's got feelings for me. But after everything I did, I can't blame him for being hesitant. "I… I'm just not sure. I know it's been a while but I still…"

Just like before, I need to convince him. "Kyon, please. I know what I did was bad. I really learned a lot that week about… about what it means to be a friend, and being in some kind of relationship." I reached out and grabbed his hand. "And I really want to try being in a relationship with you."

We looked at each other for a bit, "But can I trust you?" He furrowed his brow a bit, "You… really hurt me that day. And it's not like I don't trust you now but…"

"You're afraid of it happening again."

He was slightly surprised at my interruption, but nonetheless nodded.

It took me a second to respond to this. I mean, can anyone really promise that something bad won't happen again? I mean you'd basically be making a promise you can't keep. "Kyon. I can't promise that I'll never mess up again, but I don't ever want to go through what I went through that week and I'd never want to put you through that again either." I took a deep breath and clenched his hand, "But no matter what happens, I want to go through it… together with you." I'm not too great with these kind of speeches, but I know this is how I really feel.

Kyon smiled a little bit, "You really mean that?"

I smiled back, "Yeah. I do."

He sat back with a satisfied smile on his face. "Then I'll take your word for it."

A smile grew across my face. "Good. Then it's settled!" I jumped up from my seat and walked over to Kyon, grabbing his tie.

"W-Wait, Haruhi what are you –"

"Attention, patrons of this restaurant!" I shouted with all my might. "You may not know me, but that's okay! I'm just making a public announcement!"

Kyon looked mortified, probably regretting what he had just said.

I cleared my throat and smiled wide. "I am Haruhi Suzumiya! And this is, as of today, my boyfriend, Kyon!" I pulled him up and he smiled nervously, waving at everyone. Since I already declared it to the entire school three months ago why should now be any different? "I just wanted to show how much I cared for him, by making a public statement."

"Haruhi, c'mon can we just sit back down and—"

I tugged on his tie and pulled him in close as well as cutting him off. "I just wanted to prove to you that I'm not afraid to show you how I feel." One last tiny tug and I pulled him into our first official kiss as boyfriend and girlfriend. A short but pleasant kiss was all it took to get my heart racing. We soon pulled away and looked at each other.

The restaurant erupted with the sound of people clapping and some even laughing. Both of us were incredibly red in the face at this point. "Th-Thank you all for listening and I hope you enjoy the rest of your meal!"

Kyon and I sat down. Kyon's face was buried into his palms, "I can't believe you did that. I mean, you've done some crazy stuff in the past but…"

"Shut up! You should be happy your girlfriend is willing to go to these lengths." My face was equally as red as his, but I tried to not let it bother me.

Calling Kyon my boyfriend and myself his girlfriend is going to take some getting used to. But I was already enjoying the sound of it.

"Ahem." I looked up to see Kyosuke standing above out table. "I appreciate you both dropping by, but I'd also appreciate it if you didn't cause a ruckus." He crossed his arms. He sighed and laid something onto the table, "Consider your meal on the house, because now the entire restaurant is asking for desserts to celebrate your relationship, for whatever reason."

I smiled and glanced towards Kyon, who looked mildly happier, now that he didn't have to pay. We both smiled at each other and continued to eat, as Kyosuke walked away.

We finished our meals, bowed to the rest of the restaurant and went on our merry way. As we left, we left hand in hand. Both of us clearly nervous about our new relationship, "So what do we do now?" I asked.

Kyon chuckled, "Never thought you'd actually be stumped when it came to something." He sighed and looked off, "I'm not sure. I've never really been in a relationship before." He scratched his nose, "But I'm sure we'll figure something out."

Well, he's right about that. First, I need to tell the rest of the brigade the news. Then I've got some planning to do. If Kyon thinks our relationship is just going to be sitting back and watching movies, he's got another thing coming!

But whatever we do, I can't wait to get started!

And with that, I'd say this story is 100% wrapped up. The ending was obvious, wasn't it? Even so, it's been so long since I've written for this story that it feels really refreshing. Out of all the stories I've written, this one is still my absolute favorite, which is why I felt so compelled to write this new chapter for everyone!

I hope you all enjoyed the surprise chapter and I hope anyone new who's just finished reading enjoyed it as well! I had a blast writing it!
