So I have went through and revised this entire story. So far I have added two new chapters to the beginning, gotten rid of one of these chapters completely and have added two more chapters to the end. Well actually the very last one is only 70% finished so I won't be uploading that one today. Mind you that it is 7 in the morning and I've been writing since 9 pm. Expect a much more detailed author's note, a final chapter, and hopefully even more editing of the story at a later date because who knows how many mistakes this has with me being as tired as I am. Expect it very soon though.

Naruto's Shadow

Chapter One

Sasuke didn't particularly like the Namikaze's.

It's wasn't that there was anything that was necessarily wrong with them per se, but there wasn't much about them that was 'right' either.

They were decent people yes, but little Sasuke had been raised under the ancient and powerful name of the Uchiha. No small amount of pressure came from being born under such an influential name, especially for the littlest one, who'd been raised to hold himself to the Uchiha's standard. It was only natural that he'd come to judge others according to those same standards.

And that's why he just couldn't understand why his family loved the Namikaze's so much. They were the exact opposite of everything Uchiha. Like the way that Ms. Kushina immediately latched herself onto his mother in a smothering hug the moment she'd stepped through their door.

They were too affectionate... Especially the littlest one.

Uchiha's were never ones to be overtly affectionate and very rarely did they care to outwardly express too much emotion. The Namikaze's, on the other hand, wore their hearts to the very edge of their sleeves and they did it unapologetically.

Still his mother allowed the hug, enjoyed it even.

What was more shocking than that though, was the way that his father smirked (he'd never seen the man manage a actual smile) indulgently at Mr. Minato as the man threw his head back in booming laugher no doubt at one of his own jokes. The

Namikaze's were too loud... Especially the littlest one.

Sasuke had never known of his father to tolerate loudness. Uchiha's had more of a quiet intelligence to fit their image, yet it would seem to Sasuke that Fagaku actually enjoyed this man's presence despite that fact that he was practically roaring out his amusement for the entire mansion to hear him.

Too top it all off though, what made the Namikaze stand out so obviously from the Uchiha were all the colors.

The Namikaze's were too bright...Especially the littlest one.

Like how Naruto stood in front of him beaming a bright bright smile. So bright that Sasuke thought he might go blind if he starred too long. His tan skin glowed around the wide stretch of his lips and accentuated the golden locks that framed his cherub face. They had always reminded Sasuke of...sunshine. His deep deep blue eyes reminded him of perfect summer skies. Nothing like those of the Uchiha. They were a clan of very strong genetics demonstrating inky black eyes and raven tresses that fell neatly over sharp but graceful features.

The Namikaze's were so far off from his standard of Uchiha it was almost appalling. He couldn't for the life of him understand what it was about their neighbors that his family was so attracted to. Even his older brother Itachi and Uncle Kakashi found themselves gravitating around the trio to divide their attentions between Mr. Minato's lame jokes and ruffling through Naruto's sunny hair.

Maybe it was because they were so pretty...Especially the littlest one.

Minato's stunning coloration and Kushina's delicate features blended together beautifully to create the annoying little bundle of anti-Uchiha that was currently tugging on Sasuke's shirt sleeves demanding for him to join along in his play.

His blue eyes were wide-open windows to the excitement and happiness that stirred inside of him every time he came over to see his 'self proclaimed' best friend.

Way too emotional.

Their close premoxity did nothing to dissuade the boy from demanding a game of hide and seek loudly into Sasuke's ear.

Much too loud.

Those deep blue skies practically sparkled as they looked into the dark abysses of the boy that was his complete opposite as if he were trying to hypnotize his friend into bidding his will with his gaze alone.

Unnecessary bright.

The little Uchiha sighed loudly and pulled his lips into a frown that came off more of like a pout on his little four-year-old face. Still though, he bid his parents a suffering goodbye before allowing himself to be dragged off by the beaming child who'd settled for a halfhearted wave in the general direction of where the adults stood at the entrance to the door.

The parents we're going out tonight on something like a double date and would be out late leaving Kakashi in charge and Sasuke stuck catering to the demands of the littlest Namikaze all night under the influence of those stupid blue blue eyes.

The boy should be lucky that he was so pretty.
