Chapter 30

Naruto walked down the hospital halls with Kiba. They were carrying rope and cloth ties. Kakashi gave them the order to bring Sasuke to the Hokage's tower by any means necessary. He knew just like Kiba did, they were going to have to use force, because there was no way he was going to leave willingly.

They planned it out perfectly. They knew the nurses schedule and planned to use that to their advantage. Naruto was sure they would be able to overpower Sasuke if they caught him completely off guard. And when it came to brute strength, that was something both Naruto and Kiba had over Sasuke.

"You ready?" Kiba asked Naruto, putting the cloth ties in his back pocket.

Naruto nodded hiding the rope from view. "As ready as I'm going to be," Naruto replied as he opened the door to Neji's room.

Kiba followed Naruto into the room and saw Sasuke standing over Neji.

"What do you two idiots want?" Sasuke asked never looking up from Neji's face.

"Hey asshole, we came to see how Neji was doing," Naruto shot back standing beside Sasuke. "He looks good," Nartuo said giving Kiba a look.

Kiba nodded and positioned himself slightly behind Sasuke.

"Again, what do you two want?" Sasuke asked getting a little irritated they were invading his time with Neji.

"Will you eat lunch with us?" Naruto asked scratching his cheek.

That was the signal, Kiba grabbed Sasuke from behind locking him in a bearhug. "Tie him up!" Kiba yelled as Sasuke started to move.

"What the fuck are you doing?!" Sasuke asked trying to break free of Kiba's grip.

Naruto made quick work of tying Sasuke's legs tightly together. Naruto looked up and saw red. "Cover his damn eyes Kiba!"

"I can't until you tie his arms," Kiba said dodging Sasuke's head again as he threw it back.

Naruto grabbed one of Sasuke's wrist and Kiba grabbed the other. They slammed Sasuke to the ground putting their weight on his back, pulling his arms behind him.

While Naruto tied his arm, Kiba tied the cloth over his eyes.

"You two are fucking dead! Do you hear me, dead!"

A nurse entered the room and screamed. " What are you doing?"

Both Kiba and Naruto stood up, each holding one end of Sasuke. "Don't worry ma'am, Hokage's orders," Kiba said as he and Naruto carried Sasuke out of the room.

. . . . . . . . . . . KH. . . . . . . . . . .

Kakashi sat behind his desk waiting for Naruto and Kiba to return with Sasuke. He was sure Sasuke was pissed at them right about now, but he needed their help and he was about to get it. From the looks of things, Sasuke wasn't the only person who needed their help.

Kakashi couldn't help but take in Sakura's appearance. She didn't look like herself at all. It was clear that something wasn't right about her. Of course he'd seen her, but he never really paid attention until now. He would have to address her issues as well. He didn't like the fact that his team was divided now. None of them were as close as they could be, and that was about to change.

Kakashi turned his attention to the door which was opened and Sasuke thrown on the ground in front of his desk. Had they gaged him? Kakashi couldn't help but laugh to himself.

"Can I go home now?" Kiba asked. He really didn't want to be there when they let the Uchiha lose. He had a feeling he would be the first to go if they did.

"Yes, you may go...and thank you," Kakashi said as he kneeled down in front of Sasuke. "I'm going to remove all of this Sasuke, and when I do you better not move."

"Why is he tied up?" Sakura asked.

"We had to or else he wouldn't have come with us," Naruto answered. It's not like he wanted to tie Sasuke up like some animal.

"I was bit surprised myself it came to this," Kakashi said removing the gag from Sasuke's mouth. He wasn't surprised when Sasuke didn't say a word once it was removed. Kakashi then cut the rope holding Sasuke still.

Sasuke stood up and removed the cloth from around his eyes. He was going to set the whole fucking place on fire. How dare they interfere? "Why did you bring me here? I need to be with Neji right now."

Kakashi sighed. "Listen Sasuke, you need our help. You can't stay awake for weeks at a time. You need your rest. What good would you be to Neji if you don't take care of yourself?"

"I don't need this, I don't need any of you right now!" Sasuke was pissed. Were they trying to have some sort of intervention?

"You're so selfish!" Sakura screamed. She was angry at everyone in the room. She hated them. Why was she even there, no one cared about her.

"And why do you think I care what you of all people think?" Sasuke asked turning his attention to Sakura. "Just stand there and be quiet."

"Ok, Sasuke that's enough," Naruto said standing between Sasuke and Sakura. "We get you're hurting. Don't you think we hate seeing Neji like that too? We want to help you man."

"That's why I've called everyone here because there is someone who can help Neji," Kakashi said looking at Sakura.

Naruto looked around because it looked like Kakashi was looking at him. He was confused. What could he possibly do beside stay at the hospital sometimes if Sasuke ever decided to leave. "Wha? Me?"

"I highly doubt he's talking about you," Sai pointed out.

"I'm talking about Sakura," Kakashi said causing Sakura to look up at him. "The thing I find odd is...Why haven't you seen Neji yet?"

Sakura was quiet a moment. It was hard having all of them staring at her. What could see do if Shizune wasn't able to wake Neji up? Why would they want her help? "I can't help him," she said softly.

"You haven't exactly tried either. I find it very strange you haven't even been to see Neji," Kakashi added. He needed Sakura to just tell them what was really bothering her. He couldn't read minds and he was sure everyone was wondering what happened to the Sakura they once knew.

"I can't help him ok, so don't ask me!"

Naruto turned to face Sakura. She looked like she was about to cry. "Hey, hey it's ok. No one is asking you do the impossible," Naruto said touching Sakura on her shoulder.

"Don't touch me! You only talk to me when you need something! All of you!" Sakura yelled pointing at them.

"Calm down, we didn't mean any harm," Yamato said softly trying to calm Sakura down. He didn't want her to get angry. "Neji is important to us, we just wanted to know if you would take a look at him?"

Sakura shook her head. "No! I can't stand looking at any of you!" Sakura turned to face Kakashi. "First you abandon us for Hinata. You don't even tell us about her or the kid she's carrying, then you!" she turned her attention Yamato. "You go and hook up with Ino...INO! of all people."

Sakura then turned to Naruto. "You get with Tenten and forget all about me. You threw me away for her!" Sakura turned to Sasuke. "And you're the worst of them all Sasuke. You spit on my feelings for you, for Neji fucking Hyuga of all people. You all threw me away and never looked back. I've been alone this entire time while the four of you live happily ever after."

It was clear to Kakashi what was bothering her. She felt abandoned by them. In some way he could understand, because what she said was true. He, Yamato, Sasuke, and Naruto each had their own families now. They focused their attention there and never thought twice about how Sakura may have felt.

"And you expect me to heal Neji for that bastard!" Sakura yelled at Kakashi pointing at Sasuke. "I won't do it. And Sai never liked me to begin with."

Now it wasn't often Naruto was speechless, but after hearing that rant he wasn't sure what to say. He didn't mean to make Sakura feel bad about herself or feel abandoned. He just didn't like they way she was acting towards everyone. Could it have been a cry for attention? He wasn't sure, but since he knew how she felt, he was determined to fix things.

"I'm sorry Sakura, I really am. I never knew you felt that way. You were so mean. I just thought...I don't know what I thought," Naruto said looking at her. "You know how much I cared, no how much I care about you. I would never want to see you hurt like this."

"I apologize as well," Kakashi said. "I can admit I have had my own share of problems and my focus was there and not on all the people I care about. I would never intentionally hurt you. You have to know that."

Yamato cleared his throat. "I will say that I have not been there for you either. I can admit that all my attention was on Ino, but that shouldn't have kept me from seeing that you needed me as well."

"I have never disliked you Sakura. I hate I made you feel like you couldn't come to me in your time of need," Sai added.

Everyone looked at Sasuke when he didn't say anything. Kakashi sighed. Was Sasuke really not going to say anything when it was clear she was hurt the worse by him? He couldn't at least pretend to care about her feelings.

"What's with the stares?" Sasuke asked. "Did you expect me to apologize to her, because I'm not going to. Why should I? She clearly said she doesn't give a damn about helping Neji...so fuck her," Sasuke said folding him arms. He was not about to kiss Sakura's ass in order for her to help Neji. Shizune was doing enough and Neji was getting better. He would get better with or without Sakura's help.

Kakashi sighed. "Ok, here's the deal. All of us have done and said things we really don't mean and Sakura is no different. We are here to fix the issues in this group. We are a family and we should all try to help one another if we can."

"I don't have time for this, I need to get back to the hospital with Neji." Sasuke was walking towards the door. He wasn't about to stay here and try to make Sakura of all people happy. Neji was his main concern alone with his sons. If what they were saying didn't benefit either of them, then there was nothing else to say.

"I'll do it."

Sasuke tuned and looked at Sakura. "I will take a look at Neji and see what I can do to help him," Sakura said louder this time.

"No," Sasuke said as he opened the door. He didn't trust her, especially after what she just said. There was no way he was letting her anywhere near Neji now. "Don't you come near him."

. . . . . . . . . .KH . . . . . . . . .

Hinata rocked and gently patted the small baby's back. She was glad to have Shoichi with her. She kissed the top of his head as she watched Kiyomi lay on her back playing with a toy. It wasn't as hard as she thought it was going to be when she brought him home with her. Kiyomi was actually a really quiet baby and her boys were a big help. She really wished Sasuke would stop by to see the baby. She knew he was worried about Neji, but Shoichi needed him too and so did Itachi.

Hinata sighed and smiled down at the now sleeping baby. Well whatever happened she was going to make sure she took good care of both boys for Neji until he was able to himself. She looked at the time. "Mrs. Noa should be here soon." She was planning to go spend a few hours at the hospital with Itachi. Shizune told her that she believed he would be able to come home soon if his feeding and breathing continued to get better.

"Ma, Mrs. Noa is back!" Sakumo yelled running out of the house with Hiroki close behind him.

"Thank you for coming on your day off Mrs. Noa. I really only plan to be gone a few hours," Hinata said as the older woman sat down beside her.

"No problem at all my Lady. I will take good care of the little ones while you're gone," she replied taking a sleeping Shoichi from Hinata's arms.

"Well the boys have already eaten lunch and will probably play outside for a bit. Both babies have also eaten. Kiyomi's next feeding can wait until I return, but the little one's is in the next two hours," Hinata explained.

"Don't worry my Lady, I will take care of everything. I know you have a lot to worry over. Let me give you a little peace at least."

Hinata smiled and nodded her head. She could admit since bringing a new baby home she had been a little stricter with her schedule and how she wanted things done. It was mostly for her peace of mind. She didn't want to forget anything or leave anyone out, so a schedule was a must. Hinata thanked Mrs. Noa as she grabbed her things to leave. She could only hope for good news.

. . . . . . . . . . . KH . . . . . . . . . . .

Hinata sighed in at the front desk and saw Sasuke walk right past her. She couldn't believe he wasn't tied to Neji's bedside. Had he actually gone home to rest for a while. "Sasuke," Hinata called out his name as she caught up with him.

"Came for a visit?" Sasuke asked as they both walked to Neji's room.

"Yeah, and I'm going to visit with Itachi for a few hours today," Hinata said and watched an expression cross Sasuke's face she couldn't read. "Would you like to come with me Sasuke?"

He opened the door to Neji's room and allowed Hinata to enter before him. It wasn't like he didn't want to spend time with his sons because he did. He just couldn't leave Neji alone. He was already pissed that he was basically kidnapped for almost an hour. He looked and saw Hinata looking at him with hopeful eyes. "Next time," came Sasuke's soft reply.

Hinata smiled and rubbed Sasuke's back as they both looked at Neji. She thought he looked good. His color was back and from what she heard his vitals were all back to normal. She knew in her heart it was only a matter of time before he woke. "He looks really good Sasuke."

Sasuke smiled for the first time in a while. "Yeah, he does."

There was knock at the door and in walked Shizune followed by Sakura. Hinata was surprised to see Sakura. Of all their friends she was the only one who hadn't come to see Neji yet. Hinata could only wonder why she was there.

"What is she doing here?" Sasuke asked Shizune. "I already told you, no one touches him except you."

"She's here to help Sasuke. We talked briefly and we may have come up with a solution to wake Neji up," Shizune explained.

"I don't want her anywhere near Neji," Sasuke said turning his attention back to Neji.

Hinata wasn't sure what to say. She didn't want to go over Sasuke's head and say let Sakura work, and what if Sakura could actually help Neji? Why was he refusing her help? "Sasuke, do you think we could at least hear her out?" Hinata asked softly only to have Sasuke glare at her. Hinata sighed. It didn't hurt to ask.

"I think you should hear me out Sasuke. With Shizune's help, we can create a serum to -"

"I said no! I don't trust you," Sasuke said looking at Sakura now. "And I can't have anyone around him I don't trust."

Hinata looked between Sakura and Sasuke and shook her head. "We should leave him alone to think about it," Hinata said as she walked out of the room with Sakura and Shizune.

"This is all my fault," Sakura said looking down. "If I hadn't open my big mouth he wouldn't be so against me helping."

"I don't care what happened between you and Sasuke. I want hear what you have to say if you can save my brother," Hinata said teary eyed. She didn't want to go against Sasuke, but she wasn't going to let his pride keep Neji from getting the care he needed.

"We can talk in my office about what we came up with," Shizune said motioning for the other two women to follow her. She was glad Hinata wanted to hear them out. regardless of how Sakura acted in the past, she was good at what she did.

"Here's the thing I noticed looking over Neji's charts. He had some blood loss and shortness a breath after birth, but that didn't explain why he's passed out right now. The diagnosis Shizune gave was correct, I would have said the same thing. But now it's as if Neji is just sleeping right now. He doesn't have a fever, his blood pressure is good, all his scan check out fine, and there is no irregularity with his blood. So the question is, why isn't he awake?" Sakura explained.

"Yes that got me to thinking that there may be a simpler solution to all this. Neji is too relaxed and it's like he's in a comatose sleep," Shizune explained. "And Sakura gave me an idea when she brought this to my attention. We need to send Neji's body into shock in order to wake him up."

"Shock? Could that cause more problems or hurt him?" Hinata asked worried. She wanted help Neji not kill him.

"With anything there are risks, but the likely hood of it causing serious damage is low and the chances of death are slim to none," Sakura explained. "I will create a serum and inject Neji with it immediately sending him into shock. This should would cause him to need immediate treatment, but myself, Shizune and our medical team will be there to control it."

"It's his best chance Hinata. I know it sounds scary putting him at risk in order to save him, but if we don't do something Neji may never wake up," Shizune said squeezing Hinata's shoulder a little. "Just think about it."

"Please do and I will start working on it today. I promise you Hinata, we will save Neji," Sakura said giving her a small smile.

Hinata looked between them. She believed Sakura when she said she would save him. She would need to have a serious talk with Sasuke about everything because he needed to take this into serious consideration. "I will talk to Sasuke about it," Hinata said determined. She hoped she wouldn't have to get her father involved in this. She respected Sasuke and Neji's relationship, but she wasn't about to let Sasuke stubbornness get in the way.

"Ok, I'll be in contact with you very soon," Shizune said as Hinata left the room.

. . . . . . . . . .KH. . . . . . . . . . .

Hinata smiled as she held Itachi close. The nurse informed her that he no longer needed his feeding tube nor did he need assistance breathing. This was the best news she'd received in a long time. If everything goes according to plan then she would be able to take him home soon.

"Neji, would be so proud of you," Hinata whispered. She couldn't wait to bring him home. He was gaining weight like he was supposed to and now he was completely off the machines. "You are a little tough guy, you know that? You'll be coming home with me very soon," she said kissing the top of his head. "Your brother probably misses you very much and I'm sure you miss him too. So, continue to get strong sweet baby so you can come home."

Hinata looked up to see Sakura enter the room.

"Hey, I just wanted to take a look at him...That's if it's ok with you," Sakura said evenly. She didn't want to come off too strong and make Hinata refuse her.

Hinata stood and gently laid Itachi back in his crib. "Yes, of course," Hinata said softly as she watched Sakura approached the bed. She was glad Sakura came out of hiding. It was good seeing her back in her element.

"He looks great. I read over his charts and he has made impressive progress in such a sort amount of time.," Sakura said as her hands glowed a pale blue in color. "I would say tomorrow or the day after he will be able to go home. I have giving a chakra boost to ease his discomfort and speed the healing process."

Hinata stood beside Sakura and looked down at Itachi who looking around. Hinata smiled. That was a really good sign. "Thank you, Sakura," Hinata said softly.

"No problem. He's really a beautiful baby," Sakura said with a sad smile. "And he's real strong too. I meant it when I said his progress is impressive. I wouldn't expect anything less from an Uchiha child."

Hinata could hear the sadness in Sakura's voice. She could sympathize with her to an extent. She was sure it was hard seeing the man you've always loved have a child with someone who isn't you. It's a tough pill to swallow, but Hinata was sure Sakura would be ok.

"Yes, they are strong boys," Hinata agreed.

"Well when you talk with Sasuke let me know. I don't think he'll ever forgive me for the way I acted or what I said, but I can help Neji if he let's me," Sakura said lowly.

"Don't worry, I'll speak with Sasuke."

Hinata watched as Sakura left the room. She could only wonder what happened between them. Sasuke seemed unusually hostile towards Sakura. She thought Kakashi said they were having a team meeting to discuss helping Sasuke, but from the way Sakura and Sasuke were acting, she was sure it didn't go as planned.

. . . . . . . . .KH. . . . . . . . .

Later that night

Hinata sat beside Kakashi holding Shoichi while he held Kiyomi, and they boys were laying on the floor looking at the TV. Kakashi informed her when he got home that their meeting didn't go exactly as planned, but he felt it was a step in the right direction. He mentioned that after Sasuke left, the remaining member agreed they would all meet once a week.

Hinata thought that was a great idea. It would give them all a chance to catch up and see what's going on in the other's lives.

"I was thinking we host the first get together here," Kakashi said breaking Hinata from her thoughts. "That's if it's alright with you, because if not Naruto offered."

Hinata smiled. "No, I don't mind at all. We have the lake in our yard so we could have a BBQ," Hinata suggested. "I think it would be fun to grill, swim in the lake, and really have a good time. We all need it."

Kakashi wrapped his free arm around Hinata. "That's a great idea."

"Did Shizune tell you about Neji?" Hinata asked.

"That she did. I think you should let your father talk to Sasuke," Kakashi said causing Hinata to give him a confused look. "I mean it Hinata, he has more influence over Sasuke than you think."

"I guess I could tell father to speak with Sasuke," Hinata said softly. She hoped Kakashi knew what he was doing. Her father was not the easiest man to talk to and she didn't want Sasuke and her father to get into a fight at the hospital.

"Don't worry Hinata, your father is the best chance Neji has at receiving treatment," Kakashi assured her. He leaned over and kissed the side of her head. He knew she wanted to be the one to talk to Sasuke, but he knew Sasuke wouldn't listen to Hinata.

"Ok, I just want everything to work out for the best. These babies need both of their parents and right now...they don't have either," Hinata said looking down at Shoichi.

"Well hopefully come tomorrow Itachi isn't the only person coming home from the hospital this week."

Hinata could only nod her head in agreement. She was hopeful. She had to believe everything would be ok. It had to be.

. . . . . . . . . KH. . . . . . . . . .

Hiashi stood beside Sasuke as they looked down at Neji's sleeping form. He thought Neji looked good despite everything going on. Shizune told him of the plan her and Sakura came up with. She assured him it was Neji's best chance at waking up. The only problem was that Sasuke didn't want Sakura anywhere near Neji.

Now he didn't know the full story to the Uchiha's reasoning behind rejecting the young doctor's help, but he would have to put aside any differences they had in order to help Neji.

"I spoke with Shizune last night."

Sasuke wasn't surprised. He was sure Shizune told him about what happened yesterday. "What about it?"

"Why are you refusing treatment?" Hiashi asked now looking at Sasuke.

"I don't trust Sakura. She means Neji no good and I can't risk her hurting him even more," Sasuke explained.

He could understand wanting to have complete trust in those who treat your loved ones. "I understand that, but she is able to heal him. Why won't you at least consider it?"

"If Shizune can't do it, then it doesn't get done," Sasuke said lowly. He was tired of all this. He didn't want Sakura's help. "I don't want Neji injected with anything Sakura makes."

"I was in this position once. After Hanabi was born, her mother became ill and looked just like Neji did right now. She looked as if she was resting peacefully. No matter what they did, she never woke up," Hiashi said looking at Neji, "then one day she just stopped breathing and no could tell me why."

Hiashi took Neji's hand in his and smiled. "I don't want that for my boy, when there is someone here who can help him. I prayed for someone, anyone to help my late wife, but that help never came. I said that same prayer for Neji..."

Sasuke looked at Hiashi then looked down at Neji. He didn't want to one day stand there and Neji was no longer breathing. That was his worst fear and the main reason he hardly ate or slept anymore.

"Neji deserves a chance Sasuke, you just have to give it to him," Hiashi said releasing Neji's hand.

"I'm afraid," Sasuke said softly as tears ran down his face. "I'm so afraid."

Hiashi looked at Sasuke. "Fear is what often holds us back, but you have to be strong for your family Sasuke. There is no way I would have allowed Neji to be with you if I didn't think you could protect them."

"I've already failed them..."

"You're only a failure once you've decided to give up. Have you given up on them or yourself?" Hiashi asked.

Sasuke shook his head. He was so angry because he was afraid. Besides the fact he didn't trust Sakura he was afraid of anyone other than himself touching Neji, because they would hurt him. In his eyes everyone was a potential threat. He was afraid to trust Neji's care to anyone. If he was honest with himself, he didn't completely trust Shizune.

"Will you give Neji a fighting chance?"

Sasuke whipped his eyes and took a deep breath. "Neji deserves a fighting chance."

Hiashi smiled. "You never know how strong you are Sasuke if you don't step out on faith and believe things will get better even when you don't know for sure they will. I believe in Neji."

"I believe in him too. Tell Shizune they can do whatever they need. I won't stand in their way anymore," Sasuke said. He felt like a weight had been lifted off him. He carried Neji around all by himself refusing help. For the first time since all of this, he felt hopeful. He believed Neji would get better.

. . . . . . . . . . .KH. . . . . . . . . . .

For the first time since he was born, Sasuke was staring down at Itachi as he slept. Neji was going to kill him once he found out he wasn't there for their sons. It all felt so silly now. Him not coming to see him. He didn't feel like he deserved them while Neji was in his current state.

He was wrong about a lot of things, and not being there for his sons was one of them. Itachi looked so fragile to him, he was actually afraid to pick him up. Sasuke used his finger to gently comb some of Itachi's hair to the side. "You've got a lot of hair, don't you?" Sasuke couldn't help but smile.

"I promise I won't abandon you again," Sasuke whispered softly.

"Hinata told me I would find you in here."

Sasuke jumped a little. He didn't even hear him enter the room. "How come you always do that?"

Kakashi went to stand by Sasuke. He looked down at Itachi who was opening his eyes. "Too bad they look like you," Kakashi mused out loud.

Sasuke sighed and laughed. He couldn't help but laugh. "It's funny I think the same thing about your sons." This time they both laughed.

"Shizune said they will start on Neji later this afternoon. Sakura already has the serum ready and she's positive it'll work," Kakashi said patting Sasuke's back. " I just thought you should know."

Sasuke nodded. He knew Kakashi was telling him because he agreed to stay out of it and let them work. He knew he would be a distraction so he was going to stay with Itachi until they came and got him.

"I can't imagine how hard this must be, but you're doing the right thing Sasuke."

"I want you to be there. Just make sure he's ok," Sasuke said looking at Kakashi. "If I can't be there I at least want someone there I can trust with Neji."

"Of course. I'll observe the entire thing Sasuke, you have my word." It was the least Kakashi could do. He knew it was taking everything in Sasuke not to be there. He was trusting them with his heart in a sense.

"He's all I have Kakashi."

It was said low but Kakashi still heard him. He was glad Sasuke was finally letting them help and opening up to him. He could understand completely, because what would he do if Hinata were Neji?

"Well I'm going to go check on things. Hinata is bringing Shoichi to see you today too. So, cheer up Sasuke, you have a lot to smile about."
