Previously:

"Whenever she can. As a… full bred she finds that cloths are restraining and unnecessary. Now what are you here about?" Kadma asked as Halinor exited their room, now wearing a light blue sundress and brushing her long hair again to get the tangles and knots out.

"I'm afraid to say this but… there's… been…a bit of an… incident. Will….she's at the hospital in critical condition."

Kadma stared at the man shocked while Halinor heard him easily and the hair brush fell from her now limp hands.

Now:

After a moment of shocked silence…the two women sprang into action. Halinor grabbed her jacket and purse while Kadma threw on her jacket and shoes before they both darted out the door with Tom right on their heels.

"Which hospital is she in?" Halinor demanded as she and Kadma climbed into their truck, a shiny red Colorado that Kadma had just bought yesterday, and she started the engine.

"Follow me and I'll lead you there." Tom said as he climbed into his police car and cranked the engine. Halinor growled as she slammed the drivers side door shut but followed behind Tom, who to his credit knew enough about the woman to have the intelligence to turn on his lights and sirens as he sped off. As soon as they got there one of the now terrified doctors told the two mothers that Will had finished surgery and then kindly pointed to her recovery room.

"Will!" The two women said as they burst through the door of Will's ICU room.

"Ugh…. Mama?" Will groaned, coming around slightly as she blearily opened her eyes. In an instant Halinor was beside her baby girls side and stroking the girls face.

"Yes baby girl. Mama is here." Halinor said softly as she stared down at her baby girl who was hooked up to a breathing mask, several tubes, a heart monitor, and was nearly wrapped from head to foot in bandages and casts.

"Your papa is here too sweetie." Halinor said softly as Kadma walked over and knelt by her daughters side, holding the girls non broken hand in both of hers.

"Hey sweetheart. What happened to you? If someone hurt you I will bury them alive." Kadma said her eyes darkening in anger slightly, before they lightened up so as to not scare he daughter.

"I'm fine. It was nothing big…" Will trailed off, breathing deeply and looking pained as she spoke.

"Ms. Kadma, if you'll step over here I'll fill you in on what happened." Tom said quietly while Kadma and Halinor stared at their daughter in disbelief over her words.

"Hey there sweetie. Mama's got a surprise for you, that way you have something to look forward to when you get better." Halinor said distracting her daughter as she kept one mental ear on Kadma's conversation.

"What…kind…of surprise?" Will asked her voice raspy through her mask, looking at Halinor out the corner of her eye.

"Well I wasn't sure if you'd like the thought or not, but mama and papa are going to try and give you some new little sisters to play with. That way you'll have a baby sister all your own to love and protect, and I know that she'll love you too." Halinor said softly as she reached down and touched her stomach, mentally cursing the fact that it'd take a year to find out if she was pregnant or not. Darn dragon pregnancy methods…

"Cool… I'd… like….a little…. Sister…" Will said weakly with a small grin, causing Halinor to beam at her daughter.

"Then you'll get one…or maybe multiple ones. Dragons are more fertile than humans… having just one baby is actually dangerous for us, so I'll make sure you have as many little sisters as you want and then some." Halinor said with a beaming smile aimed at her beloved baby girl.

"WHAT?! THEY'RE DEAD!" Kadma roared, almost like a dragon could Halinor idly thought as she jumped a foot in the air, as Tom finished talking to her. Halinor had been so preoccupied with her baby girl that she had forgotten to listen in on the conversation! Will flinched a little at the loud shout but painfully turned her head to look at her 'papa' who was miming strangling someone with her bare hands, the dark skinned woman's face twisted into a look of pure maternal fury. Will didn't blame Tom for cowering up against the wall furthest from the enraged woman one bit. The man was obviously smart, or at least had pretty good survival instincts.

"Kat calm down! You're scaring Will!" Halinor said glancing at her mate worriedly, having caught Will's flinch, and causing the dark skinned woman to calm down…at least a little bit. It was the best that was going to happen at the moment and Tom seemed to be debating with himself on whether or not to flee the room. Will couldn't blame him. After her mother found out what had happened to her…this place was about to become the metaphorical ground zero…or maybe a literal ground zero. After all…her mother is a full bred dragoness with super awesome green flame powers…

"You won't be calm either after I tell you why Will's in this condition, Hali." Kadma growled but her face softened as she walked back over and looked at her daughter.

"I'm so sorry sweetheart…if I knew…even suspected something like that…I would have taken you from them instantly even before I knew you were my missing baby girl." Kadma said sadness, guilt, and self-loathing in her eyes as she stared at her baby girl. How could she not have seen the signs? Especially when she had seen something similar before!

"Kat? What's wrong?! What happened to our baby?!" Halinor demanded slowly becoming frantic at her mate's behavior. Whatever made the normally cool, level headed, and slightly prideful Kadma apologize and loath herself could not be good. Not at all and considering that it was concerning their baby… Halinor's eyes widened in shock and horror at her wife's next words before her rage took over.

"Susan…she was abusing our baby girl Hali."
