Chapter 56

I turned back to the table. Now I am sure there's another person sitting on that chair, the acting-headmaster. What happened to the real headmaster? I was feeling kind of uncomfortable when the acting-headmaster didn't speak. Should I come near? Do I start the conversation? This is what's fishy in the job requirements. I should call Erza.

"So, you're the only one who qualified for the job?" Uh, I know that voice. The large chair squeaked and it turned around. "Well the job couldn't be done by any other person, so I'm not surprised at all."

"What.. are you doing here Natsu?"

He stood up from his seat. "So, about the job.."

"I told you not to –"

"This is the courthouse Luce. And this.. what we're talking about is business. It's a job only you can do."

I clenched my fists. "The only thing that I want that has something to do with you is getting my position back at the company."

Natsu rounded the table. He half seat half stand on the table when he reached the center facing me. "This has something to do with that too."

"Don't play with me Natsu!"

"I am not." He looked up. His serious eyes stared at me. I felt uncomfortable under that gaze. "You're here for a job right." He didn't wait for me to answer and continued. "The job is to be Mrs. Dragneel, to be my wife."

What the hell is this jerk talking about? I want to punch his face. Pommel him to the ground. Bury him six feet below.

"After all, you are the only one who passed the job requirements."

"Natsu, I want to kill you right now! What are you talking about?! Jenny! You have Jenny. What –I don't understand! Stop playing with me! Stop your stupid games!"

His eyes softened as he approach me.

"Don't come near me!" I said.

He reached for my face and I was surprised he wiped the tears I didn't notice were falling down my face. "Didn't I tell you to trust me? Didn't I tell you.. showed you how much I love you?"

I let the tears fall as I bit my lip to suppress the sob. "What are you doing Natsu.. stop.. stop messing with me or I'll.. I'll kick your sorry ass."

He chuckled. He cupped my chin and lifted my head up. "You'll never be able to kick my ass. That's not how an applicant treats her new boss."

"I made your nose bleed." I feel my whole body shaking. "And I have Erza's last hit."

This time Natsu cupped my face as he leaned forward and placed his forehead against mine. He closed his eyes. "You are lucky this new boss of yours wouldn't hit you. I will never hurt you. I won't fight back. You can make me bleed all you want, but you're going to take the job I offered you. Be my wife." I could feel his breath on my face as he continued speaking. "Live with me forever. Promise to love me, only me."

I don't understand how he's able to say these things and cheat on Jenny. I yanked his hands away. "Natsu –"

"You got it all wrong with Jenny." I froze and stared at his soft sincere eyes. "She didn't pass any of the requirements I passed out to Juvia."

"What are you talking about?! Jenny.. I heard everything. Straight from your mouth. You're planning a wedding. You're going to clear things out. I'm the –"

He clamped my mouth. "No. I don't want you saying you're that. Because you're not. If any, I don't have another woman Luce." Natsu pulled me to him. "There's just you."

Natsu removed his hand from my mouth. My eyes bulging out of its sockets. "But –"

"What you heard.. I don't remember what that is but.." He pulled away from me and went back to the table. He picked something on it and went back to me. Natsu held out a white and gold paper to me. It has intricate designs on it and I hesitated to get it from him.

"What's it?"

He looked at the object and just smiled. That soft smile he only show me. "A starting document that means you're accepting the job I'm giving you."

I plucked it out of his hand and examined the paper. It is not exactly a paper, well a different kind of paper. The texture is different, like cloth, and I traced the intricate designs. But what caught my attention is not how it feels under my hand and the intricate swirls of lines that decorates it but the cursive letters on top that wrote Dragneel-Heartfilia nuptial. I gasped.

"You're invited to that anyway." He said chuckling. I didn't pay attention to him and continued looking at what I know now as an invitation card. "Jenny really did a good job doing that."

This time, I looked up at him. "Wh-What?"

Natsu ran a hand through his hair. "Jenny Realight is the heir to their company. Realight Wedding Planners?" He paused and looked at me. "Ring a bell? She was so happy when I told her about the plan and was really happy that I chose their company to help in the preparation."

"That-That doesn't mean you're planning ours." I gripped the invitation hard in my hand. "What about the company? Firing me? The rumors about you and Jenny.. you.. you're always with her."

Natsu stepped closer to me again. "I'm telling you it's ours." He said smirking down at me. "The firing you from the company was my plan. I didn't really fire you, you know. I know how much you love the company. Remember the paper I gave you?"

I nodded.

"It's a leave slip. I need to buy time that you won't come to the company while I plan the greatest proposal ever done in history." He as he clenched his fists. "But damn those reporters for ruining everything. And you!" He pointed at me. "You came to the company at the wrongest of times!"

"I don't think there's a word such as wrongest.." I muttered under my breath.

Natsu began to pull his hair and started pacing from here to there. "I should've told the guards not to let you in the company building until I said so. Damn. Everytime you go to the building is not just the best time you should be there." He glared at me. "Talk about wrong timing."

I rolled my eyes and stuck my tongue out at him. "Then why didn't you just tell me? Idiot."

"I was about to!" He exclaimed. "But Gray, Jellal and Gajeel said its better that way."

So those three knew. "So you chose to let me feel.. that."

He stopped from pacing around the room and immediately went in front of me. "Believe me I tried so many times to tell you! You wouldn't answer your phone. Gray and Gajeel were always with me. Damn those bastards, I'm going to beat them after this."

I almost giggled at his reactions. The typical Natsu, I've grown to love.

"And I was so close to telling you when I finally see you at the parking lot! But Erza... I think she guessed there's something going on." He hissed as if remembering a painful memory. "So many people get in my way!" He shouted seething.

"Lulu!" The door burst open and on instinct I jumped away from Natsu. Dan was smiling like a love-struck fool by the door. "I missed you! I've been looking all over for you. I told Juvia that you guys should wait for me, but when I came back you're not there!" He burst when his eyes land on me. Dan ran towards me but stopped on his tracks once he noticed Natsu. "Why the hell is that bastard here?"

Dan immediately pulled me closer to his side and glared at Natsu. "Dan –"

"How low can you get? Using what Lulu needs at the moment so you could talk to her? You should try the word loyal."

Natsu is not looking at him but instead at the hand Dan was using to hold my arm. "How many times do I have to tell you to get your hands off her?!"

I remembered. That time when I went to the company because of Dan… I thought that's a dream.

"You don't have the right over her!" Dan shouted back and encircled his arm around me. "You've hurt her so much. Do you know how much tears she's shed because of you? Do you know she's suffered too during the past 5 years? She's made a mistake of not returning.. but how could you resort to such methods just to get back at her?"

I became so happy of the things that Natsu said so far that I forgot how I felt so bad before. I could easily believe what Natsu is saying but there's a part of me that doubts him. He's told me everything. What am I looking for? Natsu was glaring at Dan the whole time. His eyes, they had softened a little since Dan entered the room and his fists are clenched on either side of his body. His whole body tensed.

Dan tightened his hold on me. "I will go back to Acalypha tonight and I'm bringi –" I looked over to Dan as his grip on me was slowly loosening. He was knocked out in an instant. And two figures in black ninja costumes dragged him out of the room.

I screamed and tried to reach for Dan's unconscious body when another hand stopped me and the next thing I knew, I was in Natsu's arms. He had his arms around me as he buries his face at my neck. "He's all right. Couldn't you tell those are Gray and Gajeel?" He chuckled. "I'm going to tease them about those tights later."

He didn't say a thing after. Natsu just continued hugging me and I don't know why I wouldn't move to push him away or just do something. Little by little I rested my head on his shoulder closing my eyes. I missed this feeling. I miss his body heat. I miss the way his nuzzles his nose in my hair and on the side of my neck; the way he tightly wraps his arms around me as if I'd disappear if he didn't; the way we fit together, perfectly.

"Luce.." I feel shivers down my spine as his warm breath tickled the hair on my neck. "Did I really made you cry.. again?"

"Mhm." I said with a nod against his shoulder. I pulled away slightly and looked up to his eyes, those intense black eyes that soften only for me. I only get the privilege to see how cute he gets when he's guilty and pouting.

"I didn't do it to get back at you. What happened during the past five years.. It's nothing because you came back. And that's what's important to me." His voice trailed and I waited for him to continue. "Making you cry is not what I wanted. For the first time in my life, I wanted to make something for you. I wanted to make a proposal that would make you say yes without hesitation. I didn't.. I didn't know it would turn out this way."

"I really wanted to tell you. But Gray, Gajeel and Jellal told me everything's going to be fine so I should continue my plan. I really wanted to continue but I don't want to hurt you so I tried so many times to tell you. So we could just turn it into our secret, but you're stubborn and they're annoying."

I never heard Natsu say something this sincere. Well except that time when we got together.

"I'm really so –" I shushed him pushing my index finger against his lips.

"Thank you." I said and this time I raised my arms to hug his torso. "I know you didn't mean to. It's just one problem leads to another and you can't control it."

I felt his arms around me again. "Does this mean.. you're accepting your new job?"

Tears well in my eyes. I nodded uncontrollably.

"Yes."

"You know what Lucy?" Natsu breathed. "I wanted to shout to everyone how you're Mrs. Dragneel.. but this isn't a place for shouting."

He winked at me. Bust out of the window and jumped from the balcony.

"Natsuuuu!" I shouted clutching to him for dear life. How reckless could he get?! Natsu shifted his body so that he's below me as we landed on a pile of mattresses. "You're an idiot." I told him still hugging him tight.

As soon as we landed there are clicks of cameras around us and I sat up in confusion. Sure enough there are a lot of media reporters around us. I quickly hid my face against Natsu's chest. I could feel his chest vibrate as he chuckle.

"What's happening?" I whispered as loud as I could for him to hear.

Natsu pulled chin up to him. "Showing them your new job, Mrs. Dragneel."

I could feel my face heat up. "Don't get ahead of yourself."

"Oh you. You look cute when you're shy."

"Shut up." He patted my head. He stood up and offered his hand which I grabbed so he could pull me up to my feet.

"Natsu you stupid! How could you make a stunt like that!" Erza shouted. I couldn't where she is but I know it's her who spoke. "And with Lucy?!"

"What the hell is her problem?" Natsu muttered under his breath. "You okay?"

I nodded. Natsu led me to the edge of the pile of mattresses and a staircase was waiting to help us go down.

"Hold her!" Erza shouted again. "Stupid! Put your arms around her! What if she falls on the other side!"

Natsu stiffens whenever Erza shouts at something he didn't do properly. "Pain in the ass." He hissed under his breath. "What's with her?"

I just giggled and enjoyed. Weeks ago I was just thinking that Natsu should be the one beside me and now, it really is him.

We got to the last of the steps and Natsu stopped. There are a lot of people I don't know around us. And suddenly they all erupted to cheers when Natsu grinned at them. The guards started making a human barricade and the crowd started to make a center aisle that was leading to a stage. I turned to Natsu but he was nowhere.

"Natsu?" I asked in panic.

The sound system screeched and someone cleared their throat to get everyone's attention. "Luce!" I stared at the very center of the stage, there stood Natsu. How did he get there so fast? "Hello citizens of Magnolia and you stupid paparazzi or whatever they call you. I am here to clear things up with all of you and tell you something."

My whole body froze.

"There was an issue about me and Jenny Realight this past month, and I am really happy to announce that she is my wedding planner. Okay, I brought her to my house because she's so drunk that night but I left and crashed to Gray's after." Natsu gestured to the side and Jenny came up to the stage.

"Soo.. I will honestly answer everyone's question. What Mr. Dragneel said was right.. And the picture I posted before was just for my boyfriend, Hibiki Laytis to be jealous. Well we're okay now." She giggled as that Hibiki guy blew a kiss to her. "I was always with Mr. Dragneel this past few weeks because well, we're planning this."

This? Do they mean… I'm not ready yet!

Natsu grabbed the microphone from Jenny. "I have made that woman over there.." He said and pointed at me. My breath hitched. "Yes, Lucy Heartfilia is her name and she's my fiancée for about 20 minutes now. This event is to make my proposal official and public. So everyone of you! Don't you dare touch or look at my wife!"

I couldn't help but feel shy and at the same time smile at Natsu.

"Just stay where you are Luce! I have an announcement to make." He said clearing his throat. "I'm going to sing and it's for my Lucy."

My face heated up the same time the audience hollered. Didn't they know we're still near the courthouse?

"Lucy!" I turned to see Yukino, Sting and Rogue. They walked to me and Yukino hugged me. "Congratulations!"

"So you do know this!"

Sting rolled his eyes. "Of course. It's why Natsu came to Oshibana."

"Well not just Oshibana. We went almost everywhere to gather everyone."

I looked at Natsu and he's just smiling as he watches me. I don't know how much thank you I should say to him. This is just.. too much.

"Mrs. Dragneel, I'm glad you're smiling now." Said Arcadios. "I was beginning to worry they'll fail."

"Uncle!" Yukino squealed and flung herself to Arcadios.

"Uncle..?"

When Yukino finally pulled away she nodded. "He's the headmaster of the courthouse."

That's why Natsu was able to do this in the courthouse. I should've known. But this man and Yukino had nothing alike!

"You are so sad when I first saw you enter Domus Flau.." Arcadios started. "I don't really want people coming here because that'll mean they have problems. But you, it seems like your problems then was beyond what you came to Domus Flau for. I'm glad you're smiling now."

"Thank you, sir."

Sting stood beside me as he irritably scratched his head. "I was told only close friends and family are going to be invited.. and well some reporters for the public announcement.. but this crowd."

"That's Natsu." I said giggling.

I was hugged tightly before I could register it was Lisanna. "I knew you'll be the one for him." She said smiling up at me. "I just.. have to test you." She teased.

I laughed with her and hugged her back.

And then I was pulled from that hug by Cana. She's crying. "Lucy! I'm really sorry about how I acted towards you before! I wanted this to happen to. I didn't mean –"

"It's all right you know."

"Why are you so forgiving!?" She said as she wailed.

The crowd roared again and I looked up to see the other members of Fairy Law are climbing up the stage. Levy was glaring at Gajeel and the rest of the guys as she went to her spot. Gajeel and Gray had that smirks on their faces as they went to their instruments. And Juvia winked at me. So they all know except Levy.. Poor thing.

The sound system screeched again and I covered my ears. "Ugh damn this." Natsu said. "Here are the ex-Fairy Law band members. Well you know them all." The crowd cheered. "And I have an announcement to make."

"What's happening?!" Sting asked.

"As you can see, we're united and all. We all broke up because I just lost my inspiration.. years ago." He said looking at me. "But now that she's back.. It's time for us to comeback too.. Right?"

The crowd cheered again. I can't believe this. I'm overflowing with happiness.

"But right now, you're just going to have to call us.. FAIRY TAIL!"

"Fairy Tail! Fairy Tail! Fairy Tail! Fairy Tail! Fairy Tail! Fairy Tail! Fairy Tail!" The crowd chanted as Natsu continued speaking.

"Rogue! We're re-forming the band!" Sting shouted. "I told you we shouldn't have left before."

That Sting. He'll always try to outdo Natsu in every way he can.

Fairy Law, now called Fairy Tail had an on-the-spot free concert. We were given seats at the center back. And from where I sit I could see how each of them missed playing in front of everyone. I could tell Natsu's enjoying himself. He would look in my direction from time to time and I'd blush everytime he smiles at me. I feel like we didn't age a bit. He still can make me blush like high school students.

I guess, waiting 15 years for you is all worth it.

After the event the crowd slowly dispersed and now Natsu's driving us back to the Heartfilia Hotels. Hmm, I should change its name too. But I'd like the name Heartfilia to remain.

"What are you thinking?" Natsu asked as he glanced at me with a smirk on his face.

"Absolutely not what you're thinking." He playfully glared at me and I just giggled in response. "Why do we have to go to the Hotels?"

"You'll see."

It doesn't matter where we go. As long as we're together. I leaned back on the passenger seat. This day is so exhausting. "Natsu.." He hummed in response. "Do you remember how it were when we were kids? Uncle Igneel? Your mother?"

I saw him shook his head from my peripheral vision.

"I think I'd tell you how much your mom wanted you to be prince everytime we have a costume party."

He made vomiting sounds and I giggled.

"That's exactly how you reacted before." I said glancing at him through my half-lidded eyes. "Our moms didn't have a problem with me because well I always wanted to be a princess.."

"You actually were. With all those riches.."

I snorted. "It's not like that. Anyway, you on the other hand, you don't want to be the prince. Even if I told you princes are good people you still didn't want to be one."

"What do.. I wanted to be?"

"A dragon. You told me once that they're as gallant as knights. They have powers unlike the princes our moms are saying.. And –"

"I could easily protect you if I'm big."

I turned my head to face him and smiled when I met his eyes for a second. "Yeah. You do have the same logic as when you're a kid."

"Hey!"

I laughed. "Anyway, after that incident I was really devastated. At first I made father look everywhere for you. But soon, everyone stopped. They all just stopped. After that I stopped believing you'd ever come back." I paused. "10 years.. would you believe that?"

"Can't believe you're in love with a dead boy when we met, it's difficult to surpass myself."

I rolled my eyes. "And then, 5 years.. I'm sorry for making you wait for 5 years."

"Actually Lucy, I waited 15 years." He said as a matter-of-fact.

"I'm so so –"

"But you're a princess worth waiting for." Natsu said and grinned at me.

My heartbeat started beating faster and I my cheeks felt hotter. He was laughing when I looked away to hide my face. We are nearing the Hotels now as Natsu stopped laughing. He reached for my seatbelt to unbuckle it but I held his hand.

He looked up at me and I just smiled at him. Tears started to well my eyes as he looked at me confusedly. "What is it Luce?"

I shook my head. "Nothing.." I bit my lip to keep it from smiling so big. "It's just.. I also think you're a dragon worth waiting for."

"How are you Lucy?" Erza asked.

We are now inside the Hotel and I am pushing Zael's stroller to where Natsu was saying we should go. "I'm fine." I said. "More than fine, I guess." I grinned.

Levy was still sulking beside me. "I wish they could've let me in the secret. Juvia knew! Even Erza!"

"Actually, I didn't. I figured something's going on, Jellal's acting suspicious." Erza defended.

"Juvia just knew when she was already in Crocus with Master Makarov."

"Speaking of which where's Gramps?" I asked Juvia but she shrugged. "I hope I get to see him soon."

We arrived at the place the boys were leading us and there are tables and chairs at the center and there are people seated on those chairs. My eyes widened.

"He did invite us too." My eyes widened at the set of people who greeted us when we entered the Hotel's garden. Master Bob was smiling and all. Mr. Yajima lifted his cap a little. Master Goldmine.. well his always smiling. Jura Neekis shook my hand as well as Oba Babasama. Porlyusica's smiling for once! Well Sting, Rogue and Yukino are here too and just waved at me.

"You all came." I said. All of the Board of Directors are here. And I'd get to meet Gramps later.

"We wouldn't miss this for the world." Master Bob said. "We've waited 15 years for this."

I giggled as I hugged him so tight. "Thank you."

"Well, all that's left now is the wedding and the babies!" Said Master Goldmine and they all laughed.

Suddenly they all stopped and I turned to the reason they stopped. "Gramps!" Natsu shouted and jumped from his place but was kicked by Gramps in the face.

"You idiot!" He shouted at Natsu. "You were supposed.. before.." Natsu's eyes widened as she looked at me. Gramps walked back to the center and stared at me. What's wrong with me?! "You'll.." He said as a tick mark showed on his forehead. "..just have to wait for the wedding."

I looked at him confusedly.

"Erza's given me this paper.." He announced raising it above his head. I turned to look at Erza but she had her eyes on Gramps. I went to Natsu and helped him up. "It seems, the reason why Lucy's fainted before is because she's.." He cried. "She's pregnant!"

I froze.

"Lucy! You shouldn't stand! What happens if you tire youself?!" Natsu said quickly lifting me up.

"Stupid Flame Brain!" Gray shouted. "Carry her properly!"

"I am carry –"

"Naaatsu! Is that the proper way to carry Lucy?!" Erza angrily shouted.

Soon I was seated. A warm hand went to my stomach and I was brought back to reality. I.. am pregnant. Natsu is grinning like a fool. "He's the reason why I think you're getting fat." He said while patting my stomach.

"I'm…"

"Yes you are, bae." Said Natsu smirking. "And I'm his father."

Natsu started laughing as I continue to take in the news I was supposed to know first. I feel like.. I grabbed Natsu's hand as and hurled.

"Natsu! I told you to take care of her!" Erza shouted.

Gray was on the side pulling a cushioned chair with armchairs. "Put her here!"

"These people are idiot." I heard Natsu mutter. I turned to him and he looked back. "What? Lucy?! Is there something wrong? What do you feel?! Tell me! Are you tired? Is the baby coming?! Gajeel you dumbass, don't just stand there! Call an ambulance!"

Ugh. You're no different.

How will I survive this for 9 months?

I'm really happy for this story. It took quite some time to be finished but I enjoyed every single chapter I made for this story. Thank you to those people who supported even from the start. You're really amazing to be able to read my stories. I won't say it's bad or super bad.. but it has a lot of flaws. I know. And You travelled with me even with that. I am so thankful to the people who gave reviews. They are what inspired me the most.
