Sugar & Fire

Two princesses reign over a hero's heart
One made of sugar, the other made of fire
"Sweetness can win," said the madman
But with love, fire can be greater than
She is the pink princess
The smart saccharine sovereign
Pure and refined sugar
And a rose-coloured majesty
He thinks she's so pretty
Her kiss takes him
Above the candy castles
Into the cotton candy clouds
Under the vanilla sky
Sweeter than a royal tart
But after a taste, he waits for many an hour
And as time passes, to the hero, she seems more sour
She is the pyro princess
The young lady lanterness
Whose vermillion light can blind
The star so she'd be his proxima centauri
She think's he's so pretty
Her kiss smolders and scorches
And she surges and surrounds
Him and all around
The world's ablaze until there's two
Cinders and ashes rising with the smoke
While the hero wants to carry a flame,
He secretly fears that she wants to maim
Who the hero chooses remains to be seen,
Sugar and fire can, at times, be mean
But one day, our hero will say
"Will you be my queen?"
