Chapter 37- Search for Angel continues

I've been gone a while.. I'm sorry. I think this'll be my last Maximum Ride fanfiction. I've been working on other fanfictions too. I just… I'm not really feeling this story anymore. Anyways, I anticipate this story to have 12 more chapters that I'll definitely finish during Winter Break. So you all have that to look forwards to. I'm joking.

Enjoy!

Max

"Where could she be?" Mom asked. The rest of the pack-except Iggy- was out looking around the city while I had to wait at home to tell Mom everything. I don't understand why I'm waiting around when my little sister is kidnapped.

I let myself into Angel's room- ignoring Mom for now, "Iggy!" I called for him, "You're a tracker, aren't you?"

"Find her, I don't care how," I growled, looking through her stuff. Then one thing caught my eye on her desk. It was a small note scrawled in Angel's handwriting with a bunch of numbers on it.

"What is this?" I asked Iggy.

"It's coordinates," he answered, "Like latitude, longitude? From school? Don't you learn anything?"

"What?"

"It should tell us where she is," he continued, running to his and Fang's room to get Fang's computer. He typed something really quickly and pulled up a map.

Iggy stared for a moment at the screen.

"What, what is it?" I asked impatiently.

He turned towards me slowly, a confused look on his face, "She's in Australia?"

The minute Iggy told me where she was, I ran to hurtled myself out the window into the night, forcing myself to shift. My wings unfurled just before I hit the window and I retracted them as quickly as I could but the tips of my wings caught and I stumbled a little, slowing me down.

"Hey, Max!" Fang yelled after me, his head stuck out the window. The sound was faint, "Hey! Stop!"

I ignored him and kept flying. I have to get to Angel. Why would she be in Australia if the Realm is in New York? Who would take her? I thought Marian was dead.

Suddenly a hand yanked my arm back. "Max!" Fang demanded again. He'd jumped out the window after me and stood on the ledge of roof underneath it.

"What?" I snarled, "Don't try and stop me, my baby sister is out there."

"We're not here to stop you, we're coming with you," Fang explained in a gentler tone, gesturing to my family and pack behind him in the house.

"Fine," I allow through gritted teeth, "But I'm going ahead, just follow when you can."

I knew the general gist of the direction of Australia and I didn't have a plan. The wind bit at my cheeks and stung my eyes but it didn't matter. All I could think of was Angel. I could see Angel on her first time flying with Dad and me, and her little wings barely keeping her afloat but she did it. And she brought down a squirrel too. We were so proud of her, a born huntress, especially since she was only four at the time.

The sky turned salty and I tasted it on my tongue with each inhale. The Pacific Ocean… already. This was good progress. How fast have I been going? I found it easier to fly while still in human form. The wings transformed to fit proportionally on my human body and I felt faster. The vision wasn't as good but as long as I could find Australia, I'd be fine.

There was a tiny trail of islands beneath me. Hawaii.

This was good. I closed my eyes and let my heart lead me to Australia.
