Their gazes across the table couldn't be broken throughout the meal. When asked things directly, the two gave short answers, glancing away from their would be lovers for only a moment before returning to their otherwise locked gaze. As the pizza slowly disappeared, the tension between Wally and Dick grew, their need to talk growing, and their secret needs to be with the other growing too.
"That was delicious" Kaldur's statement broke the silence, forcing the two to glance at him. "Where should we go next?" Dick couldn't help but notice that his eyes moved to Artemis immediately. "How about we check the movie times and have a look around until the movie starts" M'ganns suggestion went over well, everyone nodding as they stood. A quick glance at cinema times told them the movie didn't start for another hour, so they had plenty time to explore the mall. They spoke as a group, laughing loud, keeping close knit. Wally and Dick stayed near each other, a common occurrence that somehow seemed completely different from before. There seemed to be a kind of static between them, constant sparks that set off tingles anywhere they almost touched. They shared occasional glances, the meeting of their eyes forcing them to blush bright. And right now, one of those was lasting just a little longer. Enough for Wally to brave grasping his younger friends hand in his own.
As his fingers brushed behind Dick's hand, Dick began to almost glow bright red. The feeling of Wally's hand even close to his was enough to make him need more. He moved his hand back, his fingers lacing slowly between Wally's as the taller boy glanced down, smiling. Their contact, however, was short lived, as their group made a sudden turn in towards a music store.
Their hands broke apart, the sudden cold from even that short a moment making Dick want to run back over to Wally as they began to split up, each moving towards a different section.

M'gann's hand wrapped around Connors, he had never been much of a music lover, but M'gann had. She had explored a lot of music since arriving on Earth, some of the days were just too slow without it. "Are you sure I'll like this?" Connor's face was a picture of complete skepticism, his previous experiences with Earth music having made him question it. "Well, no.." Her face fell a little, realizing that she may not be doing the right thing. Then it rose back to a smile as she found some optimism. "But we won't know unless we try! Let's see here..." Approaching the headphone stand. They were attached to iPods that held albums to suit the genre of the aisle, this one sporting the likes of Avril Lavigne, a favourite of M'Gann's. She flicked through it slowly, as Connor looked to see where his friends had got to.

Artemis had walked towards the "Electronica" section, glancing towards the CD's as she passed them. She felt a hand on her shoulder, and she turned, preparing to protect herself. Kaldur smiled down at her. "I do not know much about music, perhaps you could show me what you like?" She smiled up at her new companion, goosebumps rising on her arms as his fingers trailed down to wrap around hers. She stepped forward, approaching the headsets for this area. She knew exactly which song she wanted to show him.

Dick and Wally walked through the alternative aisle, each settling at opposite sides. Dick approached the headphones, desperately seeking a particular song that had gotten itself stuck in his head, and was begging to be heard. He scrolled slowly, feeling Wally stand next to him, flicking down through the next one over, with purpose seemingly. He turned to Dick and asked something he had never asked before. "What's your favourite song?"

M'gann smiled as she found the song she had been looking for. She listened to it often, when Connor wasn't around. It was a favourite of hers and it was the first song that "spoke" to her.
She reached up to put the headphones on him, smiling. He still looked unsure. "This is...important to me, Connor." he nodded, trying to look more at ease as the headphones settled on him, and he heard a piano intro. He couldn't help but think this didn't seem like the kind of song she would like. It seemed too...sad.

I always needed time on my own,
I never thought I'd need you there when I cry.

M'gann could hear the words faintly, and began thinking to him.

And the days feel like years when I'm alone,
And the bed where you lie is made up on your side.

Connor's minds eye was seeing things. Memories. Playing like a slideshow from M'gann. When they first met, when they first spoke, the day with the cake mix...

When you walk away, I count the steps that you take.
Do you see how much I need you right now?

Her eyes were locked on his as she showed him their first kiss. And every kiss after. The short, the long.

When you're gone,
The pieces of my heart are missing you,
When you're gone,
The face I came to know is missing too,
When you're gone,
The words I need to hear to always get me through the day, and make it okay.

He watched her take a small breath as she thought the words to him.

I miss you.

"I love you, Connor."

Artemis stood close to Kaldur as the song came on. She knew this song like the back of her hand, it was her favourite song, she knew every beat, bump and beep. He kept his eyes on her as it played, starting slowly. He glanced at the screen. "Machinery" by someone called Carbon Based Lifeforms. Somehow, it seemed to fit her perfectly. He imagined her listening to this for everything, for every moment she was alone and could fit it in, even when training, preparing arrows, everything. The song screamed her name at him. He smiled an understanding smile.

"Uhm...I don't think you'd like it."
Dick's response was curt. It was a song that was special to him, one that Bruce himself had introduced Dick to, but one that he could relate to very well. "I'm just curious, you've never mentioned." Wally shrugged, clearly disappointed at his lack of knowledge. "I want to show you one of mine. But not yet. When we're alone." The way the last word rolled over his lips sent shivers down Dicks spine. Their eyes were locked together for a few moments. And they gladly could have stayed that way. "There is one song I do love.." Dick muttered, glancing away as he flicked through one of the closest iPods, searching through all the artists for ease. And he found it. He handed Wally one set of headphones and found the song on the one closest to him, and placed his own set on.
They pressed play at the same time and Dick found himself staring up at his older friend.

High dive into frozen waves where the past comes back to life.

Dick frowned a little. But this is how it always was with this song. He thought first of his parents, their death, the feeling of ice wrapping around his heart for that second.

Fight fear for the selfish pain, it was worth it every time.

His crime fighting days began in his head, when he first put on his Robin outfit. When his life really began. A life with a new family, a new school, a new found importance...and a new love.

Hold still right before we crash 'cause we both know how this ends.

He glanced back to Wally, who couldn't seem to look away from him.

A clock ticks 'til it breaks your glass and I drown in you again.

He thought of the times he had spent with Wally. As a friend.

'Cause you are the piece of me I wish I didn't need.

The embraces, sleepovers, when he would turn over in bed and sleep facing the one person outside of his family that meant more to him than anyone else.

Chasing relentlessly, still fight and I don't know why.

Was Wally going to take his hint? He reached out meekly.

If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?

His fingers tightened between Wally's.

If out love's insanity, why are you my clarity?

Wally's eyes moved from his hand to Dicks eyes. He understood.

He stepped closer, wanting nothing more than to plant a soft kiss on those perfect lips.
"Hey guys, ready to go?" M'ganns voice in their heads wasn't welcome. Their hands reluctantly left one another as they placed the headphones back and made their way to their friends.
This day was getting more and more interesting.

Hope you loved it 3
