It had been about a month since JJ's father died. Things around town have been quiet. JJ didn't go out as much because of her mom. Since it was now only the two of them, JJ was the one that needed to take care of her. JJ rarely saw her friends outside of school nowadays. She saw them in the morning and during class but when it came to hanging out outside of school she never saw them. When Derek would have one of his fun parties she wouldn't go. When Spencer wanted to play chess with her like they did in the past she always said no. JJ would always tell herself that her mom needed her. But JJ helping her mom ended up in JJ dealing with her mother's constant drinking and screaming after her seventh glass of wine.

It had also been a month since JJ spoke with Will. Sure they said "hi" here and there but they hadn't had a genuine conversation in a while. JJ missed him. She missed the JJ and Will that would talk all the time. She missed the Will that took care of her that night her and Adam broke up. She missed her friend.

JJ's distance worried her friends. She always looked tired and stressed and just upset. Her school work began to slip and she was missing soccer practice. All the things JJ loved in the past she seemed to avoid and no one knew why.

/ school /

The gang was waiting in the parking lot rather than their usual spot in front of the school. They wanted to talk about JJ and maybe even talk to her before the first bell.

"Has anyone been over to her house to see how she is at home?" Kevin asked

"No, every time one of us try to come over she says she's at practice or studying" Beth

"Well thats a lie cause she's been missing practice and her grades haven't been too hot" Hotch

"Tracy is starting to take over as her spot as captain on the soccer team" Emily rolled her eyes at the thought of Tracy Wilson.

"Does Jayje know that?" Pen asked

"Yeah i'm sure she can tell or figured it would happen. She just doesn't seem to care" Emily responded

"Beth has Will tried reaching out or anything?" Derek

"They have barely spoken since their break up. They agreed to be friends but they never see each other. He never brings her up" Beth answered "Its weird, its not like him to just drop her and stop caring"

"Shh here he comes" Kevin mumbled nodding his head towards the direction Will was walking

"Hey guys" Will said walking up "whatcha guys talkin' bout?"

"The theory of evolution" Spencer blurted

"Um yeah" Derek tried to play along "So pretty boy, you were saying we used to be monkey?"

"Sorry i asked" Will chuckled

As the group continued talking the gang saw JJ's car pulling up in the parking lot. JJ parked grabbed her stuff and began to walk towards the school not even acknowledging her friends.

"JJ! Over here" Pen yelled trying to get her attention

JJ jumped a surprisingly amount for just being called over by her friends. She seemed incredibly anxious for it being so early in the morning. She began to walk over.

"Um hey guys I'm sorry but i really have to go" JJ

"Hey slow down blondie" Derek chuckled "we haven't seen you in like a decade"

"yeah … um sorry ive just been busy ya know" JJ looked up making eye contact with Will then insecurely moved hair out of her face "sorry guys i really have to go"

The bell eventually rang and the seven friends began to walk to their first period. Walking into the halls they heard loud cheering and yelling.

"What's going on?" Emily

"OH MY GOD ITS JJ" Beth said while recognizing the shirt she was wearing earlier. The group of friends made their way into the crowd seeing one of their best friends getting pushed against the locker by Tracy.

"Why is she just taking it?" Emily asked knowing if JJ had the chance to hit Tracy she would take it.

Suddenly the group heard Tracy make a comment about JJ's family. Before Tracy had the chance to laugh she was on the floor. JJ punched her in the nose… very hard. Not saying a word JJ grabbed her bags and walked away pushing through the crowd leaving an annoying, whining Tracy on the floor.

"Maybe teaching JJ how do fight wasn't the best idea" Derek said to himself

/ Principals Office /

"So what exactly happened?" Mrs. Strauss asked the two girls sitting in front of her. Tracy had a pack of peas resting on her nose while JJ sat silently.

"She attacked me!" Tracy cried

JJ just chuckled

"She's jealous that I'm dating her ex-boyfriend and making my way as captain on the soccer team"

JJ turned and looked at the annoying brunette with the swollen nose "Youre dating– ?"

"Adam? Yes" Tracy smirked

"Wow lucky you" JJ said sarcastically

"See Principal Strauss, she's just jealous that i'm pretty much replacing her. I mean I have her old boyfriend, her soccer title, and i'm already prettier" Tracy continued to ramble and wasn't convincing any besides her self

"Yeah the broken nose really brings out your ugly personality" JJ smiled

"Okaaaaay girls" Strauss cut in before any more damage could occur "Tracy you may leave and please take care of your nose"

Tracy got up, flipped her hair and left the office leaving JJ and her ex-boyfriend's mother/ principal of her school.

"Jennifer, sweetie, would you like to tell me what's really going on? Its been an incredibly tough year for you and i understand why you're acting out"

JJ could feel the heat on her face, the tears swelling up, the hurt in her throat but pushing away all the words she truly wanted to say. "I'm fine"

"Jennifer. You're practically giving up on your school work and giving away your soccer team to that girl with the pees. You're father died this year i and no one else expects you to be fine"

JJ had to get out of there before she broke down "I'm sorry Mrs. Strauss. I mean no disrespect but i don't have anything to say. I punched Tracy because she was being annoying as you could tell from a couple minutes age. Nothing is wrong and i'm fine. Even without my dad i'm fine. My mom and i are perfect"

And with that JJ walked out of the office. It was break and JJ found herself in the hallways walking past her classes rather than getting make up work like she should. She walked straight through the doors of the school and passed her friends sitting at their usual table.

"Where is she going?" Derek asked his friends seeing the "JJ who would never ditch" ditching

"I'll be right back" Will said quickly getting up to catch up with JJ

Will and JJ were now in the parking lot and Will tried calling JJ to get her to stop walking.

"Jayje!"… she didn't turn around "JJ!" she continued to walk "JJ" Will yelled even louder knowing JJ would sense the despair in his voice.

She finally turned around with tears falling down her cheeks. Will caught up and was standing directly in front of her.

"What!" JJ said loudly through her tears

Will saw the tears running down her face and his heart broke. Seeing his ex-girlfriend, friend, and the girl he still loved in front of him crying was a sight he hated. He didn't say anything and just looked at her.

"Will what do you want!" looking at Will not respond JJ continued to walk away

Will grabbed JJ's arm and pulled her back "JJ! stop running!"

"Then tell me what you want!" she cried

Walking closer Will wiped the tears from her face then cupping her cheeks "let me help you"

With cold eyes JJ pulled away "There's nothing you can do"

JJ pulled away from Will's grasp, walked to her car and drove away leaving him in the parking lot.

/JJ's Home/

"Hello?" JJ entered "mom?"

Walking into the living room JJ saw the shatter glass of the floor from this morning

"You're stupid! Get out of here and go to school" Sandy picked up an old wine glass and through it at the cupboard to the right of JJ

"Mom stop!"

"Mom?" JJ walked further into her living room seeing her mother passed out on the couch with a bottle of vodka gripped in her hand. Sighing JJ removed the bottle from her mother's grasp and covered her with a blanket wondering how her life could have spiraled down hill so quickly.
