Finally I had some time to work on this story! It's been rough with starting college and all, so in other words its going to be hard finding time for my stories but I do write little by little every day for at least a half hour. Anyways I'm not going to bore you all with my life, BACK TO THE STORY!

Disclaimer: I do not own anything from The Walking Dead Franchise.

A couple day passed after the incident at Woodbury. Shane's willingness was still limited due to the injury on his arm which made him more than pissed off. Not that he could do anything about it, he just was beyond mad about getting shot. Part of him wanted to blame Rick, but at this point, he knew better not to make it known. Since he was limited to the things that had to be done, he decided to teach Beth, Carl and Ben how to properly field strip the guns and clean them. Ben seemed to catch on pretty quickly.

"You're doin' good for your first time man," Shane commented. Ben smiled lightly as he took apart one of the Glocks. The boy was still mourning the loss of his mother and Shane can see it in his eyes. Why blame him? It's tough going through something like that. However, even in the mist of his mourning, Shane still caught the boy sheepishly giving quick glances to Beth.

The boy took the barrel out and looked up at Shane. "Alright, here's what you gotta do," Shane began. Lucky, Rick still had most of the cleaning tools for the guns, for .45's, .40's, .308's, .375's which was something dire for Rick's Python, .223's for the assault rifles, 9mm's, .38 specials which still worked for the .357's, and a couple shotgun cleaning tools. Shane picked up the cleaning rod for the .40 and ripped off a piece of white cloth. "Since we're limited on materials, we're gonna improvise." He gave the cloth to the young man. "Here, dab that in water." Ben put the cloth in a small bucket of water then showed Shane. "Alright, here," Shane gave him the cleaning rod, "put the cloth at the end of the rod," the boy did what he said, "now push it through the inside of the barrel and scrub it good. Make sure it doesn't pop out as soon as you put it in."

Ben scrubbed the inside of the barrel back and forth until Shane gave him the okay. "Alright that's good, y'can take it out now." Ben pulled out the rod and looked at the wet cloth. Black material was stuck onto it. Shane looked at the cloth and opened his eyes wider. "Damn, that thing needed cleaning. Alright, now," he gave the boy another piece of cloth. "Take this dry one and do the same to get all the water out. The last thing we need is for the barrel to get rusty, then the gun's as good as shit." Ben smirked a little at Shane's emphasis on 'shit'. "Anyways, after that, put the thing back together the same way I told ya to take it apart, just backwards."

Ben nodded politely and began cleaning the barrel. Shane looked over to Carl and Beth who were patiently waiting for him. Not so much Carl because he wants to be helping his dad put barriers up outside. Shane went along with helping the two field strip their guns.

Rick and Tyreese were putting up barriers on the catwalk using the metal tops of the tables from the cafeteria and many other areas of the prison. Rick remained mostly quiet and tried to refrain from making eye contact with the new member of the group. Tyreese tried to make small talk with the former deputy but only managed to get a few words out of the man.

The only reason Rick said very few words was because he still felt that if Tyreese died, it would linger in his conscious. His responsibility. It was a lose-lose situation.

"So what did you do before all this?" Tyreese broke the awkward silence in hope to create a better atmosphere between the two. Rick placed another metallic cover down leaning against the fence then picked up another one.

"Was the sheriff's deputy in King," he replied flatly.

"Oh, I reckon you and that Shane fella were partners. Am I right?"

Rick placed the other cover down then looked back up. "Yeah," he exhaled. His blood began to boil beneath his skin. He understood the fact that Tyreese was just trying to get to know him and be friendly, but in mist of everything with the Governor, he couldn't help but feel none other than overwhelmed. He reached over to get another cover. "Go get some more covers," he ordered the larger man. Tyreese, without any hesitation, walked down from the catwalk.

Rick took a chance to scan the fences around the complex with his binoculars. He spotted Michonne taking over the turned over bus next to the second gate, holding an AR and her trusty katana. He wondered who exactly left her with heavy artillery like that. Most likely Shane, he'd be having a little chat with him later on.

He moved the binoculars to the right slowly. He only saw dead. Everywhere. As he settled his gaze over to gravesite of T-Dog and... Lori, he spotted a white dressed brunette facing towards Lori's gravesite. Could it be..? No.. It couldn't. It wouldn't make sense. Any sense whatsoever. What baffled Rick the most was what kind of a dress the woman was wearing. He remembered that specific dress. It was strangely similar to the dress Lori was wearing on one of their most memorable dates. The day played over and over in the man's head. The same day he proposed to her.

Rick looked out from the binoculars for second, shook his head, then peeked right back in. She was still there. She turned head slightly to her right revealing half of her face. It was her. Rick immediately dropped the binoculars, swinging down onto his chest, grabbed his AR and began pacing down the stairs into the courtyard. He walked through the gate, still looking down at ground, in a sense hoping when he looked back up, she would still be there. He glanced for half a second. She was still there looking at the grave.

When he got within inches of her, he reached a hand out, not looking up still, and landed on nothing. Quickly he lifted his gaze. The only thing in sight were the two graves. He restlessly looked around the yard hoping to spot her again. No such luck. But then he saw her. On the other side of the fence, there she was. Standing, facing the woods. She turned around slowly. It was her. Lori.

Instantly, Rick started running for the front gate, passing Michonne who looked beyond confused. He kept running until he came up to the opening in the fence they cut through weeks ago, went through it and slowed his pace as he approached the white dressed brunette. She was standing on a small wooden bridge, slowly lending her spotless hand out to him. Rick paused for a second then slowly took steps towards her. Finally, within inches, her hand cupped his cheek to which he took a exhale of extreme relief. He could actually feel her hand on cheek. Her touch was smoother than silk.

As if on instinct, he reached his right hand and touched her cheek, carefully caressing it. There were no words and they certainly weren't needed. This was as good as it gets and it was all he really needed. To his wife again and to remember the smooth feeling of her skin.

As Shane finished up teaching the three teens, Glenn stormed into the room wearing riot gear and wielding a machete. He walked up to the table with a very determined look on his face, not to mention a little spark of rage.

"Ben, where's your dad or Tyreese at?" He asked quickly.

Ben shrugged a little. "I dunno. I think he's helping uh.." He rubbed his head slightly. "The guy putting up boards."

"Rick?" Shane added in.

"Yeah Rick. Sorry, I'm not good with names, but yeah him."

"It's fine, man," Shane replied with a half smile. He looked back to Glenn who began pacing to the door. "Glenn, what's the deal?"

Glenn slowed a little and looked back at the table. "We need to know about that wall and how they got in," he replied pointing at Ben. Shane nodded and Glenn made his way out of the cell block.

Carl looked back to Shane. "They were saying they got in because the wall was down. I know where they are talking about. Should I go with Glenn?"

Shane paused a second, thinking if it was his place to say yes or no. Either way, they needed all the information they can get on that wall. "Yeah, go on then."

Carl quickly got to his feet and ran out the door. At that moment, Axel, Stephanie, Hershel and Sasha walked in from the room with the cells. Axel greeted them with a smile.

"I see you're teachin' 'em bout them guns." Shane smiled and nodded his head. "Yeah, mind if ya show me sometime? I haven't had my fair share 'round them, you follow me?"

Shane snorted a little. "A convicted man being taught how to use a gun by a cop."

Axel laughed and crossed his arms. "Kinda ironic, I know. But yeah, I'd like know a lil' more about that stuff."

"A'right, what do ya say I show ya tomorrow. Sound good?"

Axel smiled even wider. "Sounds great, man."

Hershel strolled towards the table with Sasha right behind him. He took a deep breath and glanced around to everyone. "We need to figure our plan if and when the Governor retaliates. From what Rick told me, he seems the kind of man who would just shoot us down in cold blood."

Shane nodded. "Yeah, Rick should have things under control by now I assume."

Hershel shook his head. "I hate to say it but he doesn't. He's," he paused slightly giving Carl a quick glance. "Having a hard time."

Shane lifted his head a little towards the old man. He opened his mouth, but then immediately closed it. He knew Rick was having huge problems, with good reason and he wouldn't want Carl to believe his father was insane. If he would realize it, Carl would turn into a cold person. But who wouldn't?

Glenn walked back in the cell with Allen and Tyreese. The young Asian stormed down the stairs, grabbed a piece of chalk on the table with all the riot gear and guns, and started drawing a blueprint of the tombs.

"So where did you say it was?" He questioned Tyreese.

Tyreese crouched down and pointed at an empty spot just above the electrical room. "There's a hallway right here that leads from here," he pointed at the electrical room, "to here." He estimated the position of the room. "Right here is where the wall's down." He tapped repeatedly on another empty space.

"You came across walkers?"

"Yeah, many of them actually. We managed to shut some of the doors to stop them from swarming, but I know we missed a couple."

"Two doors. I remember which ones," Allen added crouching down next to Tyreese. "They weren't too big but I do remember seeing how many biters there were behind them."

"Shit. We cleared out that whole section before. How did they come through?" Glenn growled. Shane could literally see the fire of rage beaming out of the young man's bruised eyes. At that point, the cop was shocked at how much Glenn changed since he's known him. From being the shy, slim, meek former pizza delivery boy at Atlanta to now being the built, fearless and daring young man. "That means there's a breach."

The only problem was this extreme rage surrounding him that Shane's never seen before. He was on a war path. What exactly did the Governor do to him that made him this cold?

Tyreese didn't know what to say in reply and instead just looked back down at the blueprint with a puzzling look.

Michonne came in the cell block after clearing out the fallen truck next to the gate and rested herself against the fence. She stared at Glenn as if she knew what was going on in his mind.

Glenn rubbed his head and looked up at everyone. "Okay, the whole front of the prison is insecure. If walkers just strolled in then it's going to be cake for a group of armed men."

"Why are we even sure he's going to attack?" Beth asked looking around sheepishly. "Maybe you scared him off."

"He had fish tanks full of heads," Michonne said in a monotone. Everyone focused their attention on the woman with startled reactions. "Walkers and humans. Trophies." She looked to Shane with eyes half closed. "He's comin."

"We should hit him now," Glenn replied without hesitation.

The atmosphere in the room suddenly changed. The girls all glanced at each other with shocked expressions. Shane was the first to get to his feet and took a step towards the young Asian. "What're nuts?" Shane said with a horrified expression.

Glenn looked at Shane. "He won't be expecting it. We'll sneak back in and put a bullet in his head." Shane glanced over to Hershel with a shocked expression.

"We're not assassins," Carol said flatly.

Glenn completely ignored her comment, got to his feet and walked up to Michonne. "You know where his apartment is." Michonne said nothing in reply. "You and I can end this tonight." Michonne looked away from him and let out a long sigh. "I'll do it myself," he said in frustration. Michonne stared at him for the longest time but then finally she gave him a small nod. "Okay." Glenn turned around to walk in the next room, but Shane stopped him in his tracks.

"Hey man, listen to me. I want to kill that bastard as much as you do, but none of us are in any condition to just go over there and finish it, especially you." Shane swayed his stance, he was beginning to lose his patience for Glenn's recklessness. Glenn flexed his cheek muscles and looked away from the former cop. "Look at yourself, man. He didn't know you were goin' last time and look at what happened to you!" He took another step towards the young man. "You, Mag and Daryl were captured! Were almost executed! Think about what we're all up against!" Glenn looked down at the ground and rested his hands on his thighs.

"Glenn listen to him," Hershel spoke up to the young man. "You can't be thinking like this. This rage is going to get you killed."

Glenn stopped and gave the two men a dead eye. "You can't stop me," he replied lowly. Maggie turned her head to her left at the cold reply.

Hershel only shook his head. "Rick wouldn't allow this."

That statement alone pissed off Glenn. Rick wasn't even inside the cell block with them, which made the Asian think he had no say in any of this. He took another step towards Hershel. "Do you really think Rick is in any position to make that choice?" He practically hissed. Shane was slightly confused by his claim about Rick, but now wasn't the time to talk about him.

Shane stood next to Hershel. "Hey man, think clearly! Yeah I know exactly what ya are feeling right now, pal. Back at the farm when we found out 'bout them walkers in the barn, I was feeling the same think you are now. The way I handled that situation was not way I should have, I was reckless. Don't be reckless right now, especially now that we're not dealing with only walkers."

Hershel nodded and continued after the former police officer. "T-Dog lost his life here, Lori too, the men that were here," he glanced at Axel who lowered his head at the statement. "It isn't worth anymore killing. What're we waiting for? If he's really on his way, we should be outta here by now."

"And go where?"

"We lived on the road all winter."

"Back when you had two legs and we didn't have a baby crying for walkers every four hours!"

Hershel still shook his head. "We can't stay here."

"We can't run!"

Maggie looked away from Glenn and began walking back into the cell block. Glenn only watched her leave and took a glance at everyone in the room. He nodded his head and looked down at the blueprint. "Alright. We'll stay put." Shane shook his head and sat back down at the table. "We are gonna defend this place. We're making a stand." He looked back to Shane. Shane looked back for several seconds then nodded. Glenn then looked back at Hershel who nodded back as well.

Glenn knelt back down and looked at Tyreese who was quietly kneeling next to the chalk blueprint. "Tyreese, you need to show me where the breach is exactly."

Tyreese nodded. "You got it."

Michonne stepped forward. "You guys need some help."

Glenn shook his head. "No, in case anything happens, I need you out here." Michonne squinted her eyes a little and nodded. Glenn then looked back at Tyreese. "C'mon, show me where it is."

Tyreese nodded and got to his feet. "Alright."

It's been a while since Glenn and Tyreese have gone into the tombs. Two hours it felt like to Shane. He was beginning to wonder if maybe something happened, but he knew Glenn could handle himself. Tyreese seemed very capable as well, especially with that hammer of his.

Instead of worrying, Shane distracted himself by making small talk to Allen and Sasha. Sasha seemed to be very polite and respectful as they spoke. She could be trustworthy. The same couldn't be said about Allen. He was very quiet like he didn't want to give up any secrets about himself. However, nevertheless, he just lost his wife and could still be dwelling on it.

Suddenly something just popped into his mind and looked around the room at everyone, at Carl, Beth, Ben, Allen, Sasha, Hershel, Carol, and then Stephanie. "Who's on watch?" He questioned them. The group just looked around at each other and shrugged. "Damn it guys-"

"I'll go up there," Stephanie announced.

"Alright. Keep your eyes pealed for any threats," he replied. She nodded and grabbed the Remington 700. "Ya see anything, take a shot."

"Alright I will. You be careful with that arm. You can't push yourself, you know," she replied with a smirk.

Shane smiled back. "Alright alright, I won't." He took another look at her. "B'safe Steph."

"Thanks." She patted his shoulder lightly and walked out of the cell block.

"Alright, now who's going to go finish up fortifying on the catwalk?"

"I will," Carol replied.

Axel took a step forward and raised a hand. "I'll go too. I'll do my part."

Allen took a step forward. "I might as well give a hand then."

"Good, y'all should get to it then." The three then left the cell block to work on the fortifications.

Sasha came up to Shane with arms crossed. "I could monitor the baby if you want. I have experience with caring for babies. Is that alright?"

Shane didn't look at her at first, but then nodded. "Yeah sure. I trust ya know what ya doing."

"I do. I promise you. Like Tyreese said, we all have to do our part."

Shane nodded. "Alright, thanks." Sasha nodded back

Hershel came strolling up to Shane with a concerned expression across his face. One that Shane could name, 'We have a problem' look.

"Shane, we need to know where Rick is. We need him badly and more than ever."

Shane scratched his curly hair and looked away from the old man. "Where is he?"

Hershel paused and glanced over to Carl who was still studying his Beretta. "Last time I saw him, he was on the other side of the fence."

Shane lowered his eyebrows and took a step closer to the old man. "What're sayin' he's on the other side of the fence? Is he fuckin' crazy?"

Hershel's facial expression told Shane everything he needed to know. Rick is going crazy. He has been acting like that since the assualt at Woodbury.

Just as Shane decided to ask the man about his whereabouts, Beth opened up the gate to the tombs. Glenn and Tyreese came out covered in rotten blood and flesh. "We checked the section, it was overrun again."

Beth gaped a little. "That section was cleared!"

Tyreese walked up to the table and placed his hammer on the table. "There were just too many biters."

Hershel shook his head. "We're wasting time. The Governor is supposedly on the way and we're stuck in here with walkers."

Glenn shook his head vigorously and pointed at the ground. "For the last time, running is not an option!"

Carol crossed her arms and softly looked at Glenn. "Glenn, if the tombs are filled up with walkers, its only a matter of time until they push into here."

"And what if another herd passes by? We're settled then," Axel remarked.

Glenn restlessly looked around the room. "Alright, we just need to scan the far side of the prison, find out what's going on."

Shane lowered his eyebrows. "You're goin' out there on your own?"

"No, I'm taking Tyreese with me, in the grey pickup. You down?"

"I'm down," Tyreese replied. Glenn nodded and walked into the cell block, probably looking for Maggie.

Shane took the time to walk up to Tyreese. "Ya alright, man?"

"M' fine," he replied quickly.

Shane looked back into the cell block then back to the larger man. "Y'know, you don't have to do this man. I wouldn't blame ya if ya really didn't."

Tyreese shook his head and looked back at the cop. "Nah I have to do this." He pointed at his group members. "I want to earn our place in this group, help in anyway I can." He detached his riot vest and placed it onto the table.

Shane shook his head and placed his good hand on the man's shoulder. "No. You don't have prove anything. I talked Rick into letting y'all in which means I have trust ya."

Tyreese looked back at him. "I am grateful that you did that for us but I'm still volunteering for this."

Shane looked at the man longer and finally nodded. He patted his shoulder. "Then you be careful out there, man."

"I will."

Glenn came out of the cell block with depressed look on his face. Something definitely happened between him and Maggie. He grabbed the keys and nodded at Tyreese. Shortly after the two left, the remainder of the survivors got up to their feet and started exiting the cell block. Some headed back into the cell block for the baby. Hershel tried his best to catch up to Glenn and Tyreese.

"Glenn!" The old man yelled. Glenn didn't even twitch but Hershel still strolled up to him. "Glenn!"

Shane caught up to Hershel. They needed to talk sense into him. "Glenn, stop! Let me at least tell ya something."

Reluctantly, Glenn stopped in his tracks, slowly turned around and slowly walked up to the two men. Hershel was the first to speak. "You're not going back to Woodbury, are ya?"

Glenn took a long gaze at the two men. "No." He paused and nodded in the direction behind them. "Just goin' out there."

"Glenn," Shane started, "you need to overcome this recklessness. It's only going to get ya killed, man." Glenn looked away from the cop. "What're trying to prove right now?" Glenn ignored his question and started walking back to the truck with Tyreese patiently waiting for him. Glenn got into the truck and drove it down to the gate where Carl opened up for him. The truck then drove off into the distance.

Shane glanced at Hershel with a worried expression then around the field. Suddenly, something on the other side of the fence caught his attention. It was Rick. "Shit.."

Hershel heard him and turned his head towards their leader. "We need to talk to him." Shane nodded and the two headed off in Rick's direction. Shane thought of the worst. His best friend was going crazy. After all things Rick has done for him, Shane hadn't had the chance to repay him back even though Rick never asked anything in return. Either way, Rick needed his help and they needed his.

Rick ran down a bend next the creak restlessly looking for something or someone. His hair was wet from his sweat as well as his clothes. Suddenly, he heard his name being called out and he glanced around in all directions. He shielded the sunlight from his face and stopped in tracks. He turned back around and kept on walking back towards the prison. He rested his hand on his AR and looked around again. Where was his name being called from? His name was called out again and he restlessly looked around again. He couldn't pinpoint the source. He was starting to get desperate and he resumed walking back towards the prison. As he approached the small wooden bridge, he heard his name being called out again. This time he figured out the source. On the other side of the fence stood both Hershel and Shane.

He bowed his head and slowly crossed the bridge towards the two men. He walked up to the fence and stood there, still desperate after searching the woods. His hand still clenched the side of his AR. He focused his gaze on Shane in particular which got the other man uneasy.

"You know we wouldn't of hobbled down here if we knew it wasn't important," Hershel started in very concerned tone.

"Rick, we need ya. Ain't ya coming back?" Shane asked as calm as he could. Rick exhaled a long breath and looked back at the woods he was recently venturing. Shane put his good hand on the fence. "Glenn's gettin' reckless after what happened at Woodbury. This rage isn't gonna go far with him. Man, y'know I can't lead this group right now and neither is Glenn. For as smart as the kid is, he can't fill in your boots man."

Hershel clenched tighter onto his crutches. "Rick, we need you now more than ever."

Rick looked down at the ground, swaying in his stance and lifted up his arm. "If you're so worried about him," he snapped his wrist at the two men, "you lead." He didn't say it to either man in particular, just in a general sense. He turned his head back to the woods in restless essence.

Hershel nodded and looked at Shane in defeat. He looked back at their leader. "What're doing out here?"

Rick quickly turned his gaze back to the two men similar to how a deer reacts to headlights. He turned his head away from them again. "I'm," he murmured. "I've been," he rubbed his finger next to his nose and gestured his hand out to the woods again. "I've got," he scratched his forehead again and gestured to the woods again, "stuff, out here," he replied sheepishly. He nodded and swayed his body again. "Yeah, stuff." He glanced back to the woods again.

Shane put his good hand up to his forehead. This was literally the worst time for this. Hershel slightly shook his head. "How much more time do you need?"

Rick took a deep breath, glanced at the woods again then looked back at Hershel. "I-I don't know," he exhaled desperately. Shane could see the restlessness in his eyes. "I dunno." He looked back down to the ground and placed a hand on his waist.

"Rick, is there anything you need, man?" Shane asked him.

Rick slowly lifted his gaze back up to his friend. He still had look of restlessness in his eyes. Rick didn't say anything but looked like he did. It was like he was too ashamed to share what exactly he was going through. They wouldn't understand what he was going through. They simply couldn't. Hershel looked down to the ground and and started shifting his body around. Shane didn't move. He had to stay for his best friend.

After a long pause, Rick nodded at Shane and scratched his neck. "Shane," he finally said.

"I'm here man, what's up?" He casually asked him.

"I-I saw something," he said in a shaky tone. Hershel turned back around and strolled up next to Shane. Rick also took several more steps toward the fence. "Lori," Shane flinched at the sound of her name, "I saw Lor-" he gasped for air and looked down, "I'm seeing Lori," he looked back up at Shane, "um," he rested his hands onto the fence. "Look, I know its not really her." He looked dearly into his friends eyes, but Shane took his gaze away from him and looked down at the ground. Hershel cocked his head a little then nodded a little. "B-but there's gotta be a reason," he restlessly looked at ground searching for words. "It's gotta mean somethin, y'know?"

Shane nodded a little and slowly looked back up at his friend. Hershel took in a deep breath. "Was it her on the phone?" Shane looked over to the old man. 'The phone?'

Rick paused then started nodding. "Yeah." He looked at his friend again and took in a deep breath. "You too."

Shane lifted his head up and lowered his eyebrows. "Me?"

"Yeah," he gasped. "At the town."

"Rick, I was there," Shane replied as calmly as he could, still very confused on what he was trying to tell him.

Rick shook is head. "No, I saw you shoot at y-you." Shane looked at Hershel with a baffled expression. "I know it don't make sense, but the other you that shot at 'you' you looked the same as the night at the farm. I don't know how to explain it but-"

"Hey hey hey, you don't have to explain yourself. It's alright," Shane replied.

"No I do. That Shane," he pointed off into the distance, "was trying to kill you. I shot him in head."

"I understand. Rick, ya see me now as what I was like that night?" He asked with his head bowed and his eyes glued on Rick.

Rick looked back up at his friend. He glanced at him for a while then shook his head. "No." He patted his hand on the fence. "Look, there has to be an answer to all of this. I know it doesn't make sense," he said scratching his eye, "but it doe- can make sense. I think in time, it'll make sense, it has to."

"Rick," Hershel replied. Rick focused his gaze on the old man. "C'mon in, you need rest. It's not safe out here."

Rick looked down and nodded, but suddenly something caught his attention and looked back into the woods. He looked into the the lush for a long moment then slightly looked at both men. "I can't." He turned around and started walking back to the small bridge.

"Rick don't!" Shane shouted after him. Rick didn't twitch at the height of his voice and kept walking. Shane lowered his head in defeat. "I don't know what to do, Hersh." He looked down at the ground

Hershel looked over to him. "There's nothing we can do except wait."

Shane scratched the back of his head and turned around to look up at the prison then around the yard. Michonne was near the front gate still clearing the flipped truck over. He glanced back at Hershel. "I'm goin-"

Suddenly a gunshot cut him off mid-sentence and he looked past the gate where the report came from. There he saw the Governor with an assault rifle aiming towards the prison and one of his henchmen. "Shit, get down!" Shane pulled Hershel to the ground and drew his Glock out. He noticed that Rick turned around as well and lassoed his AR around in front. "Rick! Get down!" At that point, more shots fired from the treeline at his best friend. He spotted spotted the shooter in the treeline. Rick quickly ran off the bridge and dropped down on the side of it for cover.

Shane ducked all the way into the tall grass next to Hershel. More rounds zipped through the air above them, tearing up the weeds around them. Shane looked up at one of the guard towers and noticed a man with an assualt rifle shooting at the courtyard. Thankfully, he heard members of his group returning fire back at the tower.

"There's only four of them," he whispered to himself.

Rick pulled the AR's chamber back, aimed at the man at the treeline and pulled the trigger firing off continuous rounds. The henchman fired back at Rick, only penetrating through the wood.

Michonne open fired with her AR at the Governor nailing the truck behind him. The Governor didn't twitch or take cover, only stayed his ground in a calm manner. He fired back at Michonne but she took cover behind the truck, bracing herself from the lead making contact with the truck. He then chuckled, pointed his gun in the air and held down the trigger.

There was suddenly a slight pause from the gunfire and Shane lifted his head up slightly. He heard Rick slap in another magazine into his AR. Suddenly he heard Maggie's voice in the distance calling out for Beth. The firefight then resumed when the man at the watchtower open fired at the courtyard. Shane dropped down to the ground and looked up at the guard tower where Stephanie was. She took cover in the glass.

Suddenly Shane heard a motor approaching the prison from the gate. Shane lifted his head slowly and peeked out towards the gate. He spotted the Governor and his henchman turning their gaze to the road. A large white and orange truck came into view flying towards the front gate. "Shit, their breaching the gate!" Shane cried.

The truck drove through the first and second gate then pulled up into the middle of the field. Rick took advantage of the distraction and quickly crawled up next to the fence into the high grass. Shane focused onto the truck. It was just parked in the middle of the field. Suddenly the trunk side of the gate dropped down and multiple walkers piled out strolling towards Hershel and Shane. The driver quickly exited the truck, shot at Michonne and started running out of the field. Michonne dodged the rounds and hid behind flipped truck. More rounds were being fired up by the courtyard. Shane noticed that the man at the other guard tower was gunned down.

Countless walkers made their way towards Hershel and Shane. Shane lifted his good arm and pulled the trigger to his Glock, dropping walkers. Hershel drew his sidearm and started picking off walkers, but there were too many for both men. Rick aimed his AR through the fence and pulled the trigger. Click!

"Shit!" Rick through down his AR and drew his Python. He fired a round towards the Governor's position, but the Governor returned fire and Rick lowered to the ground. "Shane, Hershel! Get out of there!"

The Governor and his men got back into their pickup truck and drove off on the road. Rick got up to his feet and aimed at the walkers in the field, but he noticed walkers were coming out of the woods. He quickly turned around and fired at the walkers getting closer and closer. He pulled the trigger again. Click! He's out of rounds. He turned around and started pacing in the other direction to get to the whole in the fence, but he was cut off by another walker. "Fuck.."

Gunshots rang from the courtyard and many walkers in the field dropped dead. Shane and Hershel picked off dead one by one. Michonne unsheathed her katana and started cutting down walkers on her way towards the two men. Suddenly, Glenn's pickup came back into view and drove towards the two stranded men. Shane helped the crippled man to his feet and gunned down another walker. Glenn drove up next to them and Tyreese came out of the truck trying to buy them some time. Shane opened the back door and helped the old man in, then jumped into the back of the pickup. The rest of the group made their way back up to the courtyard.

Rick smacked a walker in the face, caving the face in. As soon as he looked up, he was grappled by another walker and pushed up against the fence. Another walker came up behind the other and pressed up against it. Rick tried pushing the walkers off but it was just too much weight. Just as the walker was going to bite down onto his neck, an arrow zipped right into its head.

Daryl placed another bolt into his crossbow. Merle let out a war cry and rushed toward Rick with a metal bar in his hand, jamming it right into the other walker's head. Daryl fired another bolt into another walker's head and Rick plummeted the butt of his revolver into another walker's face. Merle whipped his bar around, taking out two walkers instantly and started punching one still moving on the ground repeatedly. Rick glanced around at the fallen corpses then back at Daryl and gave him a nod. Daryl nodded back and started walking up to the two men. Rick glanced at Merle who let out a panted chuckle. The cop rolled his eyes and looked back to the field.

It was completely infested with walkers. The Governor made it pretty clear that he wanted revenge. This retaliation started a war between the two groups and Rick knew he was completely outmanned. They needed to come up with a plan.
