A little thing for DeZeLinker's songfic contest, which I've been meaning to get done. I've currently had a little too much fluff fics floating around in my head, and with Valentine's Day right around the corner, I present to you In Other Words. Hope you enjoy!

(It's PeachPit because, even though I'm not consistent with pairings, I find this ship adorable, and the song somewhat fits.)

In Other Words

Peach grinned as she examined the party she and Zelda had organized. Peach "really had a thing for parties", in Snake's words, and no one could disagree. The pink princess always loved the planning, the formal attire, and really, everything a good celebration could offer.

"Perfect." She sighed, clapping her hands together, and taking a step back.

On this night, Peach had set it to be like an American Sixties party, and with the smooth swing music oozing from the record players and the fancy crystal chandelier illuminating the room on this dark, starry night, it could be said that stepping into the ballroom in this evening was like taking a step back in time. Peach span excitedly around the room, her dress twirling behind her, skirting her knees and gently brushing tables filled with Canapés and shrimp.

"Peach?"

The princess stopped mid-spin, to see Pit standing in the doorway. He had, somewhat, fixed his mess of brown hair, and was wearing a tux, half-done bowtie, and a goofy grin.

"Having fun, princess?" He asked, as Peach let out a nervous laugh. "If you don't mind to help me, " Pit said, tugging at his bowtie. "I don't think this thing likes me."

Peach laughed as she walked up to him, and the song changed to a familiar tune that Peach loved.

Fly me to the moon Let me swing among those stars

"You're right, Pit," Peach said as she undid the knots around his collar. "This tie doesn't like you."

Pit smiled as the princess' gloved fingers fiddled with the fabric around his neck. "You did a good job with this party, Peach. It looks great."

Let me see what spring is like On Jupiter and Mars

"Don't change the subject. This thing is a mess." Peach said, tugging at the tie. "But, speaking of parties, do you have parties where you're from, Pit?"
Pit nodded.

"What are they like?"

In other words, hold my hand. In other words, baby, kiss me

"They're okay. They've got nothing like this." He grinned. "You're beautiful...I-I mean, it's beautiful." Pit said, turning his attention from Peach to the crystal chandelier.

Peach, who wasn't really listening to him, worked her way with the bowtie, and tied it a little too tightly.

In other words, please be true In other words, I love you

Pit gasped for breath, then motioned to the bow, which peach quickly undid.

"Sorry! I was just listening to the song." She muttered as she re-tied the bow. "It's a favorite of mine."

Fill my heart with song, Let me sing forever more, You are all I long for All I worship and adore

"It's a good song." Pit said, once Peach finished. He took Peach's hand from his collar into his own. "and it's great to dance to."

Peach looked up to him, with the two inches he had above her, slightly confused.

"May I dance with you before the other guests arrive, Ma'am?"

In other words, please be true. In other words, I, I love, you

Peach smiled and held onto his hand.

"Absolutely."
