Chapter 6: The House

A bump in the road woke Mai from her sleep.

When did I fall asleep? She thought.

"Maisgi," yelled an excited little girls voice.

What? Mai thought. She turned and realized that she wasn't really awake. She was 'sleeping', as everyone loved to say. She was on the astral plane. Looking around more, she noticed a young girl not far from her. Mais' eyes widened.

"Kisagi," Mai whispered. She watched as her twin sister smiled and started to dance around.

"Maisgi is coming home! Maisgi is coming home," Kisagi sang out. Mai smiled softly at her sisters antics.

"….ai"

Who's calling me? Mai thought, confused.

"Mai"

"MAI"

Mai jerked awake and looked around. Lin was sitting in the drivers' seat, watching her with concern.

"Are you alright? What did you see in your dream? You said your sisters' name," Lin asked, patiently.

"I was dreaming of Kisagi," Mai whispered. Lin's eyes softened.

"We're here," He said. Mai looked up and saw her family's crest resting above the old iron gate on an iron arch. The crest looked like the yin yang symbol, only it was colored black and red with the smaller circles as letters. In the black part, a red P was painted in a beautiful script. In the red part, a black E was painted in a haunted script. In the middle of the whole crest, was a dark red N painted in a hauntingly beautiful script. The P stood for the power of her mothers' family, while the E stood for the evil in her fathers past. Of course, the N stood for the Namikos'. The Namikos', themselves, stood for the balance between the Namikos' (her fathers' family) and the Williams (her mothers' family). As everybody else pulls up, Lin begins to form a magic binding circle. As he steps into the circle, the kanji symbols for balance, ward, magic, and protection light up. As Mai stepped out of the vehicle, the rest of the gang walked up. They watched as Lin broke the wards surrounding the property.

Suddenly, the gates swing open and a slight breeze blows through the gates. Mai felt the dark presence surrounding her old home. Taking a deep breath, she walked through the gates leading to her child hood home. As she walked under the old Iron Gate, the presence and feeling Mai felt began to be too much for her. Feeling intimidated, she began to shut herself off to the loud group surrounding her.

Mai, it's OK. A voice in the back of her mind said.

I know who you are now; we'll talk when I see you on the astral plane. Mai thought to her spirit guide. She watched as Lin produced the key to her old home and unlock the door.

"Alright Mai, where do you want base," questioned Naru. Mai thought for a moment.

"My old room," she confirmed. Stepping ahead of the group, she gave them a tour of the old Victorian home.

"And this is my old room. Mess and all," Mai stated as she finished the tour.

"Awwwww," everyone, except Naru and Lin exclaimed. Mai smiled and began picking up the toys left on the ground.

"So, every room was cleaned. Except this one," Monk replied, "Why?"

"I wouldn't let anyone in here," Lin said darkly. The group, except Naru and Mai, shudder in fear; they all knew what the tall Chinese man was capable of.

"Alright, Lets set up base," Naru stated. Everyone nodded and began to pull all the equipment in.

"Mai say here with Lin. In fact, please stay near him or I for the duration of the case," Naru said.

"Naru…," Mai began.

"Mai, he's right," Lin said, "this spirit wants you." Mai sighed.

"Fine," she said, defeated.

"What a minute," Ayako said, "How do you know it wants Mai?"

"Because I was the one to hide Mimi from the world," Lin drawled.

"Wait, who's Mimi," questioned Monk.

"I am, it's Lins' nickname for me. He used to call me that when I was younger," Mai explained.

"I believe we have a lot of explaining to do, Maisgi," Naru sighed. The group nodded.

"Alright, here it goes," Mai began.

Mai told the group everything. About how she was actually Maisgi Namiko, what had happened in the house that night, who Lin and Naru were to her, and about her dream. When she revealed the she was engaged to Naru, the whole group cheered.

"One more thing," Naru said, "My true name is Oliver Davis."

"WHAT," the group, except Mai and Lin yelled. Naru simply nodded.

"I've been working with my biggest star all this time," Monk exclaimed in shock.

"Back to the topic at hand," Yasu stated, "Mai, do you know who is hunting this place? Or anyone who would want to hurt you and kill your family?" Mai thought about it for a moment before shaking her head.

"I believe I do," a dark voice drawled. Everyone looked at Lin expectantly.

"Mais' uncle," Lin stated simply.
