So, this is the abridged and overview version of the next view chapters because I wanted to cut this story short without leaving out any details. I hope you guys will still enjoy this! Listen to:
Dog Days Are Over - Florence and The Machine
Run for your children, for your sisters and brothers, Leave all your love and your longing behind...
The battle that commenced between the Guardians and the Nightmare King was far more savaged that the one that had nearly killed Sandy. This time Manny's soldiers were on the losing end.
The Guardian's were in various bad shapes; North himself couldn't even lift his own double edge great sword, Tooth's usual bright feathers were turning a dull grey and Bunny had been reverted to his pre-believed form. All of them were losing hope, losing faith and Sandy could see that they were struggling to even lift their limbs.
Every one of them was struggling except for Jack.
Their youngest member had done some questioning deeds, but there he stood tall and cunning, the weight of the Guardian's futures upon his young shoulders.
He had called the other children, led by Jamie Bennett who was the winter boy's first believer. Together they helped the Guardians defeat the Master of Shadows but Sandy could sense in his phantom soul that they were afraid.
During the fight, one of the believer's bravery had fueled his spirit, made him brave too and he could feel the darkness escape from him. Sandy stared down at the shadow mare's body he had been forced to occupy and could see that the black sand was turning into his familiar golden hue. The little Guardian of Dreams could have wept in relief when he was free.
Sandy then threw back the remaining Nightmares with his sand whips and soon, the Guardians emerged victorious. They had banished Pitch to his lair forever, the black sand demons that he had created chasing after him to ravage his centre.
Tooth was the first one to hug him and soon Bunny (back to his believed form) hopped up and gave his shoulder a pat. North then joined them and they formed a group hug. All of them looked up to find Jack Frost at the edge of the frozen lake, blatantly avoiding their show of friendship.
North cleared his throat and then opened up his arms and the look that the boy gave was one of bewilderment and…happiness. He joined them and Sandy gave him a bright smile, as bright as his shining dream sand. They broke apart and from that moment on, Jack's initiation into the Guardians had begun.
The boy had discovered his centre amidst the battle between Light and Shadows; he was promptly named the Guardian of Fun. Sandy made dream fireworks explode from his hand and together all of them reveled in their joy. They had said goodbye to the children and as Sandy walked away, a strange feeling he hadn't felt for days crept into his soul.
Freedom.
He had hope and begged to be free and now finally he was. With a new Guardian, the world's children would sleep better, that he knew. He did not doubt that Pitch would return one day for his sore revenge but till then, the sense of freedom rocked through his veins, filling him with a glowing warmth that reminded him of the summer wind.
He was finally free from his dungeon of nightmares.
THE END.
