I only own Randi, Francis and Shannon

Randi bowed her head politely in greeting and sat down next to her mother, Loki sitting across from her.

'I can certainly see the family resemblance,' Randi thought.

She really didn't know what to say. It's strange for her to be sitting across from the man who is her real dad.

"We'll leave you two to get acquainted," said Francis.

He led his wife out, leaving the two alone. Loki took a deep breath before speaking.

"So, how's school been?" Loki asked.

"Fine," Randi answered.

Silence followed the answer. Then, Loki sighed.

"I know you're wondering why I'm here," said Loki.

"Yeah, I am," said Randi in a angry tone. "I'm wondering why you decided to show up after 16 years."

"Please, Randi," said Loki, his eyes locking with hers. "I did this to protect you."

Randi gave him a glare.

"Can you at least hear me out?" Loki asked in a pleading voice.

Randi huffed but nodded. The least she could do is let him explain himself.

"First of all, I'm the god of mischief, Loki," he said calmly.

Randi looked puzzled.

"You mean like in Norse mythology?"

"Yes," he answered.

Randi laughed.

"Oh, come on! You don't really expect me to believe that load of crap."

Loki took out his staff, muttered some strange words and suddenly, Randi felt herself being lifted off the couch and into the air. She stayed there for a bit before being put back down gently on the couch.

"Now, do you believe me?" he asked.

Randi, still shocked, nodded. Her mind was racing.

"Ok," said Loki. "Now, please understand I didn't want to give you up. I did because I was worried for your safety."

"What happened?" Randi asked, interested in this.

"My father had an argument with the leader of Jotunheim and they started fighting," Loki explained. "Soon, we had a war."

"Is that why?" Randi asked quietly.

"Two months into the war," Loki started, "Asgard was attacked."

Randi gasped and covered her mouth. Loki nodded solemnly.

"I had given you to my mother and she took you to a safe place in the castle," he continued. "My father, my brother and I stayed and fought. During the battle, I was badly injured. When I woke up in the infirmary, the first words out my mouth was about you. My mother reassured me that you were safe but I needed to see you for myself."

"Who was I with?" Randi asked.

"My brother," Loki answered. "I constantly tried to go see you but the healers, my mother or my father would catch me trying to get out of bed and would scold me for it. After spending a week in the infirmary, I was aloud to rest in my room. Until then, I couldn't understand why nobody brought you to see me."

"Why couldn't I come and see you?" she asked.

"You were very ill," said Loki. "Some people from Jotunheim had gotten to the safe place and they made it very cold in there. You got sick from it and nobody wanted me to get sick on top of my injuries. After spending a couple of days in my room resting, you were brought to my room. You were feeling better. My father came over after I spent some time with you. He said it was no longer safe for you to stay here."

Randi watched Loki take in a shaky breath.

"At first, I was livid," said Loki. "The mere thought of you being taken away from me made my blood boil. My father and I argued about it for a while. He eventually gave up. My mother picked up where he left off. She explained to me calmly that you were going to be safer in Midgard than in Asgard. Then, she left me to think. You were still in arms. I looked down at you and saw you looking up at me."

Tears rolled silently on his cheeks.

"I didn't want you to spend time in a place could possibly be attacked again," said Loki shakily. "Your safety was the most important thing to me. So, I decided to give you to the Jones family. After I gave you to the Jones family, I came back home and basically cried myself to sleep. Then, I focused on winning the war so I could bring you home. When the war was over, I asked Hiemdall where you were. He told me that you playing with the Jones'."

"How old was I?" she asked.

"I believe you were 6 years old," said Loki. "I couldn't bear taking you away from your family at the time. So, I decided to wait until you were 16 years of age to come and get you."

"I'm sorry," Loki whispered.

Loki went over to Randi and gave her a hug. She was shocked at first but then hugged him back, tears running down her face too.

Author's note: I hope you guys like this chapter. Btw, I want to make a Loki sick fic. I want to know if Loki should be a child, teenager or an adult.
