Patrol started easily enough for him and Dick. A couple rounds with a couple thugs and he managed not to kill anyone for the sake of the eight year old. That is until they found themselves surrounded.

Jason tried, he really did. He didn't want to see the kid's look of horror if he killed anyone. Everything was going great but that one group really did it. Jason was on the verge when he saw the choking kid in the hands of one thug.

What really sent him over the edge was the look on the three fucking scumbag's faces. He wasn't going to let that happen so when he dispensed of the thugs he was fighting he ran straight over to Dick. What sent him into the dark was what the one holding Dick was saying.

He was an eight year old boy for whatever deity's sake. How could they be so fucking messed up like that? Jason knew the answer to that one. He was in fucking Gotham that's why they were so fucked up the lot of them.

He was almost merciless. He pounded the first thugs face into the ground.

"Don't you ever touch him again, do you understand me?" Jason took out his favorite Glock to shoot this mother fucker in the dick when he felt a small hand on his arm. He was thirsty for blood to spill but he managed to turn around and see Dick looking so scared like he had in the diner.

"Please Jason… don't do it."

"Kid, do you know what this fucker was planning to do?"

"Jason, please." The boy sounded as scared as he dared sound, the other two took opportunity to run but Jason had very good aim and shot them both on the leg. "Jason!"

"They're not dead but they aren't running anytime soon." Jason muttered, he hit the first one still under him in the face with the glock and he stayed still. Jason wouldn't kill them… tonight.

"Let's go home… please?" Dick said softly. Jason sighed feeling horrible for almost breaking his own promise. But anger rose in him when he saw the silhouette specific to one pointy-eared bastard on the roof top nearby. Of course he wouldn't let the kid go alone with Jason, he was as crazy as the other scum in the city. The only real thing setting him apart from the rest was that the pointy eared silhouette trained him.

Jason felt satisfied when he flipped him off and dragged the boy back to his place. Neither of them was in shape to continue patrolling even with Batman watching them. He got Dick in the shower and sent him to sleep. He waited for him to be completely knocked out with the little extra help he placed in his dinner before heading out again and finding the bastard where he left him.

Jason found it oddly deliberate of the old bat to leave the man lying here. But he guessed they could both deny it later if Dick ever asked what happened… because Jason was sure the dickwad would ask. He finished that job quickly and finished his usual patrol.

When he entered through the window he made sure to cover his tracks, it would make it harder for Dick to figure anything out when he woke up. So he got in the shower and hid anything covered in blood. Jason had wondered why Bruce had let Dick patrol with him at first. But after seeing him there just watching and making sure nothing went overboard, Jason knew the old bat knew him too well.

Dick had gone patrolling with him to try and stop him but his eight year old mind didn't process that it was a trick or maybe it did. Jason would never ask, he could already imagine Dick.

You sedated me into sleeping? Low blow, Jason. You're a real penis.

A real patrol with Jason would be enough to send any eight year old into Arkham Asylum. Jason didn't want his brother to see that.

I am FINALLY after decades of not updating posting a new chapter. Sorry it took my so long but I moved countries, started in a new school and was a bit preoccupied... I probs won't update again until after next week cause Christmas break. Next Chapter is the last Update to this story... I am going now because I should probs be studying for finals next week!
