Thank you all who've reviewed!

I'd reply to all of you but my email has deleted everything, including my next chapter to my Sherlock fic! :(

Anyways, I'm going to break everything for this story down, The Beginning, The Pre-Quest, The Quest, The (un)Happy Ending, and lastly, an alternate ending that will be happier than the other option.

This is the Beginning, as the newly adjusted title says. However, this chapter is actually the end of the Beginning... sorry. I figured that if I stopped trying to force a chapter out that I could just take time to plot out everything without worrying...

And if you want to see anything from the book or the movie drop a message by me and I will try to work it in...

Oh! And happy birthday Tolkien!

Chapter 17: Ghivashel?

For a second, the blood Thorin found upon entering the dwelling stopped his heart from beating. Images of Ahvain being torn from the bed while she rested, guards accusing her of wishing harm on the royal family and killing her on the spot, clouded his mind. The gasp was not held in the king's throat. His younger sister mimicked him, but as ever the more sensible one, interpreted the scene more realistically.

"Those boys!" I told them not to bring in their kill until it was blooded." Dis took the burdens from Thorin and made her way to his room, she came back out soon after, a concerned wrinkle in her brow. "I think the boys may have found her."

Thorin swallowed heavily, the lump in his throat blocking his airways. Words failed.

Dis lead the speechless dwarf around to the back yard; as there were noises coming from that area, and were greeted by sight that could melt the most cold hearted soul. Standing side-by-side were Kili, Fili and Ahvain, each of them grinning ear to ear over a skinned boar. Brother and sister hung back, waiting to see them interact.

"… and you have never done this before? How old are you? Surly you have both seen over fifty summers?" Ahvain brushed her hands down her clothes, wiping what she could off on the fabric.

"Kili and I usually just cook our catch over our fire. And Amad takes over the cooking herself-"

"Last time didn't work out so well." The brothers looked at each other, sharing a knowing look and a smile.

"But yes, I am, we both are over fifty years old. I just turned 82 and Kili is only 76-"

Kili cut him off, "But I am turning 77 in just a few months."

Ahvain chuckled lightly, shaking her head at the same time, and caught the older dwarves in the doorway. Upon meeting Thorin's eye, Ahvain's previous grin blossomed into a smile. Dis smiled as well, but when her and Ahvain locked eyes the half-elf was given a pointed glare. The boys caught the look and cringed,

"Hello Amad." They spoke in unison, their eyes casted down, finding sudden interest in the boots they wore.

Ahvain met the sharp look with a messy smirk, "It would be immature of me to blame the boys wouldn't it?"

"Very."

Thorin took place beside her and kissed her forehead, "It is good to see a bit of color on your face, Ghivashel"

Her faced turn crimson before he could finish the word but it brought a wide smile to her face all the same. Fili and Kili's eyes nearly popped from their sockets, Kili's jaw dropped open, while Fili openly stared.

"Uncle?" Both asked hush-ly taken aback with the endearment.

"Ghivashel? Really Thorin, she is part elf." Dis let out a short chuckle, Thorin and Ahvain joining in soon after leaving the brothers to look between both their uncle and half elven woman.

"What would you like me to call her Dis? Melekkhathuzh?"

Both women frowned.

"I like Ghivashel better Uncle." Kili said while Fili elbowed him with a sense mirth.

"Me too." Dis' grin out-beamed the sun.

Ahvain hid her burning face in the crook of his neck.
