Despite this, his determination knows no bounds and will continue to Duel until the last Life Point, and his friends are safe from harm. He also can communicate to Duel Monster Spirits, mostly his Decoy Dragon, 1 of his trump cards. He Duels with strategy, usually involving strong Monsters on the field for either offense or defense, and swarming his field. He also has a crush on Iris, but doesn't know that she feels the same. Also, he has somewhat of a short fuse.
Iris Hamasaki: Deck: Fairy Deck: Role: Main female protagonist

Nakahara is the head of the Dueling Security Bureau (DSB), and will do whatever it takes in order to catch his target. His style of Dueling involves locking his opponent's Deck down.
Jace "Snake" Kurosawa: Deck: Venom Worm Destruction: Role: Minor antagonist; (debut Duels, formerly); Main rival (currently)
Snake is a relentless Duelist who believes that a Monster's attack power is important, and that Duel Spirits are a myth. He also believes that Yuto is nothing but a pathetic joke. Due to this, a fierce rivalry was formed. His Dueling style involves making his Monsters stronger, and weakening his opponent's through a variety of means.
Ace Amaryllis: Deck: Dark Infernity/Empty Hand: Role: Supporting protagonist

Draco Love: Deck: Discard Fabled Fiend: Role: Antihero
Draco is a man of very few words. He is able to create very complex strategies that will aid him in his Duels, including discarding cards to activate effects and drawing additional cards. He is known to have 2 young siblings, who he adopted, and cares about them more than himself. He is also able to make very witty remarks towards and about people, with Snake being the victim most of the time.
Morgan and Megan: Deck: Hazy Flame (Morgan) and The Agents of Victory (Megan): Role: Supporting characters
Morgan and Megan are Draco's adopted twin siblings. They have had a history of being kidnapped victims of Malice, only for Draco to save them every time. Sosuke Fuma: Deck: Fiendish Nights: Role: Involuntary antagonist (originally); Supporting character (currently)
Sosuke Fuma is someone who is willing to sacrifice himself for others, even if it means his own demise. He Duels with a mix of stalling and Summoning mighty creatures if he's in a jam.
Sydney O'Kelly: Deck: Bujin Artifacts: Role: Antihero
Sydney is a Duelist from Tasmania with a taste for history and art. Complete with an eyepatch over his eye, he gives off the look of a thug, when he is really not that bad of a guy. If there is anything that gets him mad, it would be calling a freakish cyclops. He Duels by Summoning multiple Monsters at once, letting him Xyz Summon his most powerful creatures.
Orion Frost: Deck: Nekroz Ritual: Role: Supporting protagonist
Orion is a Duelist who focuses at the task at hand, and because of this, he is the most mature of his group of friends, and possibly the only member without any form of immaturity like his friends do. He Duels by Ritual Summoning powerful Monsters by a variety of means, making sure that his draws aren't dead draws, and taking advantage over the field by means of effects, be it on the field, or in his hand or Graveyard.
Page Ainu: Deck: Ritual Beast Contact Fusion: Role: Supporting protagonist
Page is a girl with a kind heart and a willingness to help those in need, but can sometimes get distracted by attractive men. Lilith is a goth girl who does not take nonsense from anybody, but secretly loves and collects Fabled Plush Dolls, showing her gothic personality is mostly a ruse to hide some sort of antisocial behavior. She Duels using cards with Flip Effects, usually Setting them face-down and waiting for the opponent to strike, and the use of Fusion Monsters that take advantage over the opponent.
Enemies:
Malice: Deck: Machine Burn: Role: Major antagonist
Malice is a dangerous criminal that shares very bad blood with Draco due to the latter's siblings being stolen. His style of Dueling involves the use of powerful Monsters and inflicting massive amounts of burn damage.
Victor: Deck: Ultimate Insects (formerly); Malicious Fiends (formerly); Insect Nightmare (currently): Role: Major antagonist
Originally Avatar's initial Duel Knight, Victor is a Duelist who relied on Ultimate Insects, who use their effects to weaken opposing Monsters and stalling cards to prevent anyone tampering the evolution of them. Also, it should be noted that he uses several dirty tactics in Duels. Later, he Duels using a Ritual Monster that has a destruction effect based on dice roll results and cards relying on Fiend Monsters. Now, he switched back to Insect Monsters.
Armageddon (originally Schrodinger): Deck: Blood Bath (originally); Burning Abyss (currently): Role: Major antagonist
Originally 1 of Avatar's Duel Rooks, Schrodinger is devious and cruel. He uses Blood Mefist to inflict actual damage and uses other cards that rely on high power. When backed to a corner, he becomes cowardly, begging to be sparred, only to relentlessly destroy his opponents. After defying Yasha, he was turned into a mindless slave. While fearless compared to Schrodinger, he is much more savage and destructive, especially in his Dueling, which involves Special Summoning and wielding only Burning Abyss Monsters.
Ragnarok (originally Lazarus): Deck: Dark Synchro Trap (formerly); Infernoid Void (currently): Role: Major antagonist
Originally a man named Lazarus, he is as cruel as cruel can be. He's the reason behind Yuto's and Iris' parents "disappearing", and is even willing to attack anybody weaker than him to prove his power. However, he merely joined Yasha's cause for that and nothing else, therefore, making him a traitor. Before his transformation, he used a variety of Trap Cards that can be activated from the hand, and uses Dark Synchro Monsters that gain power for every Normal Summon made. As Ragnarok, he uses Infernoid Monsters, making his opponent seem like they have the upper hand with more Monsters in his Graveyard when he wants them there to banish, and even uses Void Expansion to decrease the number used to banish by banishing Infernoid Tokens.
Apocalypse (originally Phobos the Intimidating): Deck: Qliphort Apocalypse; Role: Major Antagonist
Much more ruthless than Armageddon and Ragnarok combined, Apocalypse is known for his cruel calculations and robotic speaking, which may tend to annoy those he's around. He uses Pendulum Summoning and Tribute Summoning in unison, in order to activate his Qliphort Monsters' effects. Caution is required when Dueling Apocalypse, because 1 wrong move can end you in just a matter of turns, which will prove his cold 0% possibility of victory or escape calculations true. Most of his past is unknown, but he was originally known as Phobos the Intimidating, the fifth child of a mysterious family line known as Alexandria, who was forcefully transformed by Yasha, turning him into a literal killing machine.
Kali Yuga the Duo-Dawn (once Aku and Supernova): Deck: Sacred Beasts (formerly), lswarm Infestation (formerly), Black Sun (formerly), Stalling and Burning (currently): Role: Major antagonist
Originally 1 of Avatar's advanced Duel Pawns, Aku is a very sadistic and remorseless Duelist who cares about nothing more than power and crushing his enemies, even before and after being a part of Avatar's Duel Army. After his defeat, his own hatred started to manifest itself into a physical form, where they are both physically and mentally linked to each other. His strategy involves toying with the opponent(s), making him and/or her think he/she has the upper hand, when he actually has it. His arrogant attitude has earned nothing but scorn from many others, including, but not limited to, Yuto, Iris, Snake, Sydney, and (who happens to hate him the most of all and insults him every chance he gets) Draco. Now transformed into an insubordinate fiend of Yasha known as Supernova, he Duels with absolute ruthlessness and cruelty, and is not above using very dirty tactics, such as threatening somebody else's life. However, after betraying Yasha, he lived a fate worse than death; he was unable to even so much as touch a Duel Monsters card without experiencing pain. Transforming into Kali Yuga the Duo-Dawn has made him into a loyal follower of Yasha after a failed attempt to take all of Yasha's power by force, and currently works a Deck that stalls for time while he painfully burns his enemies' Life Points away.
Absalom: Deck: Quick Dark Synchro: Role: Major antagonist
Absalom is Yasha's lieutenant and most loyal subject in his army. He acts on his master's whim and blindly believes in his goals in "granting salvation" to all on Earth. His Dueling strategy involves Synchro Summoning on his turn and using them as fodder to Summon stronger Synchro Monsters.
Adonis the Honorable: Deck: Shiranui Honor: Role: Major antagonist (anti-villain)
Adonis is the first-born child of the Alexandria family and is the most honorable of his siblings. He never backs down on his own agreements, and Duels with dignity above all else. His style of Dueling involves banishing his own Monsters, which have no Defense Points, to activate their effects, and card retrieval.
Odysseus the Vindictive: Deck: Cold, Cold Heart: Role: Major antagonist (anti-villain)
True to his namesake, Odysseus, the second child, is the only member of the Alexandria family who never forgives or forgets those who have wronged him and his family. He Duels with Water-Attribute Monsters that are based on the ice and snow and focus on Ice Counters, allowing him to eliminate the competition.
Lora the Melancholy: Deck: Banished Helios: Role: Major antagonist (anti-villain)
Lora is Odysseus' more level-headed sister the third child of the Alexandria family. The reason behind her name is because of the death of her mother stunting her happiness. She Duels by using cards that take advantage of the Banished Zone, giving her Monsters a massive power boost.
Abaddon the Nihilistic: Deck: Koa'ki Meiru Core: Role: Major antagonist (anti-villain)
Abaddon is the fourth child of the Alexandria family and is the only member whose emotions are practically shut off. It is said he was emotionally stunted upon the death of his mother. His battle style is dominating both Light and Dark Attributes, making them unusable, and aggressive power to crush his enemies with a cold, uncaring look on his face.
Karan the Pure and Karen the Pure: Deck: itsu Union (Karan) and Plant Princess Bloom (Karen)
Karan and Karen are the sixth and seventh children of the Alexandria bloodline and the rightful heirs to the High Ruler's Throne. True to their namesake, they are very kind and pure of heart, but like normal children, they are naive to the world outside of where they live. Like Morgan and Megan, they do not like being separated from each other. Also similar to Morgan and Megan, their Dueling style focuses on working together as 1. Karan's strategy focuses on Union Monsters to make his weak Monsters into heavy-hitters, while Karen focuses on using Plant-Type Monsters that protect themselves from destruction.
Kapaneus the Arrogant: Deck: Zushin Stall: Role: Major antagonist
Believing that his title is "Kapaneus the Immortal", he has a very low opinion on humans, be it men, women, or children, and because he compares them to insects, this is considered political incorrectness by the Alexandrian standards. Despite his role as 1 of Acheron's servants, he loathes the Alexandria, and the feeling is completely neutral. He Duels by using cowardly tactics, ranging from using human shields to make sure none of his Life Points are hit, giving him more than enough time to Summon Zushin the Sleeping Giant, allowing him to dominate the game.
"Avatar": Deck: Wicked Gods: Role: Main antagonist (first season)
Avatar is a cruel, malevolent Duelist who Duels just to break his opponents, making any Life Point damage to them into actual damage. He also uses a wide variety of powerful Monsters that he can Summon in 1 turn. Despite this tactic, he enjoys watching his opponent suffer, attacking, even if the opponent has no Life Points left, feeling as if he isn't satisfied until his last attack.
Yasha: Deck: Dark Synchro: Role: Main antagonist (second season)
Yasha is a very manipulative and sadistic man who uses others to do his work for him, giving them false promises of liberating the world. It is also worth noting that he has absolutely no regard to anyone or anything, except for himself and his plan. His plan: world domination with the use of his Dark Synchro Monsters, which he created, and come in different varieties of evil. His strategy involves the use of his Dark Synchro Monsters, which he uses for even stronger Dark Synchro Monsters, and torturing the opponent until they break.
Acheron the Mourning: Deck: Cubic Rinne Rebirth: Role: Main antagonist (anti-villain, third season)
Acheron the Mourning is the leader of the family name of Alexandria and is a man who is shrouded in grief over failing to save his wife from death. He is unfailingly polite to friend and foe alike, but will make it no secret that you do not insult his wife's memory. When he Duels, he focuses on the use of Cubic cards and their abilities to cover the field and place Cubic Counters on his enemies, severely weakening them.
Other:
Samael: Deck: Psychic Recovery: Role: Major antagonist (formerly); Enemy (formerly); Ally (currently)
Originally Avatar's first Duel Bishop, Samael is a seemingly ruthless Psychic Duelist. He apparently makes his opponents suffer real pain just for mere amusement. His way of Dueling involves the use of powerful Monsters and recovering his Life Points; also, he uses Brain Research Lab to prevent paying Life Points for a Psychic Monster's effect. After the defeat of Avatar, he seems to be more concerned about testing his limits as opposed to ruthlessly attacking his enemies.
Lexus Hunt: Deck: Guardian: Role: Ally
Lexus is a man who is devoid of all emotions, but has a pure heart, nonetheless. His style of Dueling involves ways to keep his Monsters from being destroyed and/or residing in the Graveyard, while Summoning multiple Monsters while powering up his Armed Samurai-Ben Kei.
Marduk: Deck: Zombie World of Pain: Role: Minor antagonist (first Duels); Acquaintance
Marduk is a Duelist who reads lots of ancient legends and prophecies, some of which make him look like a freak. He Duels with Zombie Monsters that involve swarming and/or resurrecting from the Graveyard. He is not above sounding like a sadist if it means his opponents fight harder.
Argent Rosario: Deck: Vampire Nights: Role: Ally
Rosario is a man shrouded in dark mysteries, but is a very welcoming man. He has the ability to make his Monsters real and serve him with loyalty. His strategies involve the Graveyard and Summoning from there, similar to a vampire waking from its coffin.
Dr. Issac and Asimov: Deck: Fire King's Honor (Dr. Issac) and Lightray Swarm (Asimov): Role: Acquaintances
Dr. Issac is the man who first created the Duel-Droid, a robot capable of Dueling, and Asimov is the first Duel-Droid model, and his creator's assistant. Dr. Issac is very analytic as Asimov is loyal to him. Dr. Issac's Deck revolves around self-destruction and reconstruction, while Asimov's revolves around Summoning powerful Monsters by a variety of means.
Fafnir: Deck: Blue-Eyes Justice: Role: Antihero
Fafnir is a man of many mysteries, and is known to wield many powerful cards that support Blue-Eyes White Dragon, and despises it being used the wrong ways, and compose of it as well. For some reason, he is against the DSB for banning Duel Monsters and arresting talented young Duelists. He also refers to criminal marks given to young and innocent Duelists as scars, further showing his hatred for the DSB. His personality is similar to that of a stereotypical superhero, giving long, valiant speeches and going against all that is evil, saying that he is the light that shines through all possible darkness. It is revealed he lives in a post-apocalyptic future as a sole survivor.
Monarchs (AKA the Elemental Gods): Deck: Extra Deck Lockdown Monarchs: Role: Neutral
The Monarchs are the rulers of the Duel Monsters Spirit Realm, and will do anything to ensure its safety, even destroying their perceived threats. Each Monarch has a differing strategy, but all focus on the absence of an Extra Deck and locking their opponents' down, along with utilizing their effects upon Summoning. 6 have the power to become Mega Monarchs, which are much more powerful than their original forms in terms of effects and offensive power. 8 of them are accompanied by Vassals, armored squires with undying loyalty to their masters.
Calliope the Beautiful: Deck: N/A: Role: Posthumous
Calliope is the late wife of Acheron, as well as his only wife. There is little known about what caused her death, though poisoning is the most likely explanation. She was a very kind and gentle soul whose death put a massive hole in her spouse's heart, and is the reason he plans to commence Project: Samsara.
