Caroline trudged up the cobblestone path leading to her house. She sighed heavily. God, was she tired. Being the assistant to Aperture Science CEO was difficult enough without this damned baby inside her.

Opening the door to her home, she was greeted by the usual sight of children running around, screaming like banshees. She groaned miserably. No, she didn't need this. Not today. She wouldn't deal with it yet, she had decided. The fatigue plagued woman kicked of her heels, honestly not caring if they put a hole in the wall or not. With that, she plopped down on the couch, ready for a good nap. Or not.

"Hi, mum!" her son practically screamed at her. She turned over, forcing a smile on her face.

"Hey, Wheatley." Caroline replied. Wheatley turned towards her swollen belly, patting it lightly. He had learned by now that there was a small person sleeping in there, so he had to be gentle with his mum's stomach. He wasn't really sure how they got in there though.

"How's the baby?" He asked. Caroline closed her eyes slowly.

"Good." she told him. Wheatley wanted to respond but was interrupted by his three older brothers practically running him over. Neil hopped up on the couch beside her ecstatically.

"Ow...Mum, he pushed me!" Wheatley yelled, pointing accusingly at Craig. Caroline shot the boy a glare.

"Don't push your brother. It isn't nice." she said calmly. Craig simply scoffed and pointed his nose upwards. The woman rolled her eyes at this.

"So what is it?" Neil asked excitedly. Caroline cocked her head in confusion.

"Hm?". Neil threw his arms up in the air as if he had asked the most obvious thing possible.

"The baby! Is it a boy or a girl?" he asked. Caroline sat up, facing all of them with her hands on her stomach.

"Well, I suppose you all ought to know." she said. "I went to get checked on and the doctor said... it's a girl." She announced. Neil's eyes sparkled in joy. Wheatley smiled brightly. Craig looked as if he honestly didn't give a crap.

"Awww boo!" Rick hollered. "I don't want a sister!" he said. Caroline frowned at this reaction.

"Why not, sweetheart?" she asked. Rick folded his arms

"Because girls are gross." he said. His mother only laughed at this, ruffling his already messy hair.

"Oh, you'll change your mind one day." She told him. Rick put his hands on his hips.

"Nuh uh, I won't! I'll never like girls. Never in a million, kajillion years." The boy declared. Craig turned towards him, his expression still bored beyond human reasoning.

"Nobody can live to be that old, dummy." Craig said. Rick stuck his tongue out at him. Caroline sighed, laying down again. Another kid, another mouth to feed. Another kid, more screaming to deal with. Another kid, more memories to make. Yes, that was what she needed to focus on. Making the best of things. And she intended greatly to make the best of this.
