Emma had been back and forth between her parents place and the Mills manor packing her things for about a week now.
Yes, she had gained a lot more belongings since she has moved to Storybrooke. It wasn't enough to fill a house; Emma knew she would need to buy more things. Make this life even more real.
Emma was now at the Mills manor, getting her last box from Regina's bedroom. Charming, Ruby and even Leroy were in another car heading over to Emma's new house. Snow didn't want to help with moving day, for two reasons. The further away her daughter was, the less chance she has of convincing her Regina is a bad person and if she went, she would have to see Emma with Regina.
"Regina!" Emma called from the front door; she wanted to get moving so she could get everything unpacked today.
Regina came down with another box. Did I forget one? Emma thought, but it was soon brushed off by the look on Regina's face. Regina had been in and out of this sad mopey mood for just about a week, Emma didn't understand why and every time she tried to talk about it Regina just walked away.
Emma and Regina made their way to the car in silences. Once in the car Emma couldn't keep in her question, it had been a week and now she was moving out. She needed to know why Regina was acting this way.
"Regina?"
"Mmm"
"Why have you been acting like this" Emma gestured to Regina "What's going on?"
Regina griped the steering wheel a little harder but remained silent. She wasn't going to talk about this, not now, not ever… It wasn't her place, well so she thought.
"Regina…"
Regina didn't even look over to Emma.
"Ohh come on!"
Still Emma got no response, so she stayed quiet for the rest of the ride.
When Regina and Emma got to the new house Regina was straight out of the car and went inside. Leaving Emma behind.
Emma figured she should go in; she didn't want to see Regina like this.
Emma waved to the boys in the front yard getting things off of the truck and Ruby just looking pretty as she went inside to find Regina.
Emma found her in the mastered bedroom; Regina was looking around as if she was looking at the Mona Lisa for the first time.
"Regina…"
Regina didn't turn from her place by the window. Was she looking at the backyard, or was it just an excuse not to look at Emma?
Emma just stood there. For a moment it was because she was waiting for an answer, now, well now Emma wasn't really sure.
It was only when Emma heard a small sob coming from the other woman that she moved. She didn't speak; she didn't even try to look Regina in the eye. She just wrapped her arms around Regina's waist from behind and held her.
It was only after the next sob that Regina turned in Emma's arms and buried her head into Emma's neck. The embrace lasted a long time. Neither woman said a word. They just stood there together.
Finally Regina pulled back, she grained herself, it took a while because she had to wipe her makeup away. But once she had regained herself he put on her mask, and attempted to walk out of the room.
Emma blocked her. "You can't just cry on my shoulder and then walk away." Regina forced an eye roll and tried to move past Emma. But Emma won out, she was bigger after all. "You aren't leaving until you tell me what's going on"
"You're moving." Regina weakly said.
It didn't quiet click for Emma. "I can move and unpack later; right now I want to talk to you."
Regina just stared at her, it wasn't really an angry stare, but it was a little judgemental.
It clicked. "Wait, you…. But- It, I." Emma paused and looked at Regina for a moment. "What?" Safe to say Emma was more than confused.
Regina sighed. "I don't want you to live here." Before Regina could continue Emma cut her off.
"You said you liked the place."
Another eye roll. "I do… But, well" Regina froze, the Queen, the Mayor was lost for words. The next few words Regina spoke we quiet almost as if she were ashamed. "It's not my place."
Emma moved to Regina and grabbed her hand. Regina's eyes were down cast so Emma tilted her head down until she caught her lover's eyes. "I've always wanted to be with you, live with you… We practically already do. But that day in the forest, you said you didn't want me to move in."
Regina looked up. "That was a while ago-"
"Just over a month." Emma corrected.
Regina continued. "I wasn't ready then, and okay maybe it hasn't been that long but there is something about you, Emma. I don't know what but it makes me feel like we have known each other our whole lives. It scares me, and I'm unsure about a lot of things when it comes to us… But I do know I don't want you living here."
Emma smiled. "Then I won't."
They kissed.
It was a long kiss, a passionate kiss. A kiss that made both women finally understand, they were in this for the long haul
