Prologue

Year: 1998

A tall woman sprinted through the trees with a bundle in her arms. Her unusual teal hair was flying all over the place along with the wind. She easily jumped over branches and fallen logs like they were nothing. Off in the distance was the barking of dogs and they were gaining on her quickly. She came to the riverbed and stopped. She had to cross. The water was cold and the sudden change in temperature made the little bundle in her arms wail loudly. The woman felt something clamp on her leg and gritted her teeth to prevent screaming. The water around her turning red, making her realize that one of the dogs had caught up to her and took a chunk out of her leg. She had to get the other side, where they couldn't track her. She managed to fight off the dog that was so determined to prove itself worthy of its masters' praise, so determined to be a leader of the pack, also so very determined to die. Its teeth weren't what hurt her the most, or the claws that were trying to drag her down, it was the crying of the bundle in her arms. It tore away at her heat with every wail and sniffle. She kicked and fought the dog and eventually won after a kick to the snout made it back away. The riverbed was in the distance and she swam hard to get to it, blood still pooling around her. The water had soaked the bundle, turning its white blanket a light pink. She fought desperately to get across but the water current was getting tougher to swim through. It was then all her fears came true. The man in the black suit was there. With his dark black eyes that always peered down on her. She was firmly planted between to rocks that made her seem sturdy in the harsh water. His grin made her sick to her stomach.

"Well you've made it farther this time. I'm quite surprised and thoroughly pleased with your performance."

"Go back and crawl under your rock Jasper. I've won my freedom, along with my daughter's."

"Well, you see. I lied about that. There is no freedom for you. There never was, but it kept you motivated. So I used your hope against you. It was cute actually."

"You promised my freedom! It's written on the contract! A sworn blood oath!" she shouted.

"Temper, temper my darling. I always liked your feistiness." He said while taking something out of his waist coat. "But a runaway queen is not tolerated in my society, especially one that is also a traitor." It was a gun and it was aimed right for her head.

"I will be loved by you," Click. "whether you like it, or not." Bang!

The woman collapsed and the bundle went down the river.
