Desolate Blue

The beech was quit as the sand emitted a golden glow from the sun. A small breeze came along occasionally to twirl some of the grands of sand before setting them down again somewhere else. The waves moved slowly back and forth, hitting the same damp spot on the beech every time. The air was a mix between the scent of the ocean and some fresh meat that was being roasted a couple of yards past the beech's shoreline.

As the only occupant on the beach, Kurt took the opportunity to sunbathe without his shirt on. Ever since his major cold from being in the water for so long the previous week, Sue had let him off the hook from any major chores. At first he had spent his free time chatting with more people just to create more bonds to cover the emptiness of Puck leaving. Beth was good company, and actually very mature when it came to conversation, but he needed people his age to talk to so that's what he went out doing.

He moves his arms from behind his head and lets his head fall to the sand. He spreads his arms out wide and lets them nestle up in the warm sand. It would be hot, but the breeze made it feel good. He lets his hands run through the sand and smiles. He was at peace at this point and he didn't want that to change.

Once he managed to get back to shore he had been rushed away to a warm bed, and then Sue proceeded to verbally attack him before taking up a position at the end of his bed. She only allowed Beth in to see him, otherwise she brought him his meals and took care of him. After a couple of days Graham was allowed in so Sue could get everything back in order. There was no use holding out for hope if they weren't sure everything was a success, so things had to get back in order.

Today was his first day out and he was making sure that his roof wouldn't be more hut. The sand also made for a good bed. He was never one for nude sunbathing, but he'd be lying if he said that he wasn't tempted to strip his shorts off. He just loved the fact that he felt so free even if he couldn't leave the island.

He tilts his feet to their sides so he can run at least two toes through the sand. He smiles a bit more as he squeezes his eyes shut and enjoys the rays of heat coming down on him. The week had started off terribly from the almost failed launch of their best men, but now it was feeling good. Who knew that things could change this much within a week. He was feeling good under the son.

With a content moan, he rolls over onto his chest. He brings his arms up to provide a pillow and looks out onto the long stretch of beach. He flex's his back muscles until they pop before relaxing into the sand. A shiver runs through his body as rougher burst of hair hits the beach, but it subsides rather quickly.

He does enjoy the sounds of the waves getting rougher though. It sounds weird, though. It had been calm all day and now with the sounds of the rough waves he can feel some of the seawater hitting his feet. He grunts and rolls over to sit up, his arm coming up to block out the sun, and finds himself squinting into the distance. The heat waves bouncing around across the water is making it hard to see anything in the distance, but he does see something . . . something that wasn't there before.

It's a boat.

He eyes the figure for a second and stands up, walking along the beech to meet up where it's heading. The boat is suddenly getting bigger and bigger and he starts to run along the shoreline in excitement. The burning sand against his feet does nothing to slow him down, although the cliff side does. He grunts as he races to the side and up the nearby hill.

He couldn't believe it. Boats were actually showing up. He had counted three and they all were showing up. A branch swinging back and hitting him in the face isn't as big of an impact as this event is. He continues to climb and run up this cliff side as he has to get on the other side. He had all the faith in the world that the plan would work since he had the extra tools that they needed to escape. He just didn't think it would be so easy. He was expecting them to land off in some country and it would prevent an near-instant rescue. But a one-week rescue had blown his mind. He was only going to keep his hope alive for a month.

He skids down the rocky side a few feet once he reaches the top and gets his bearings before looking down. The big vessels were just pulling onto the sand and making their impression on the island. It takes another breeze to come by to knock his senses and movement into gear. His venture down the rocky side is much faster now. He's ignoring the path because that will take him longer to get down, and he needs to get down as soon as he can.

As soon as he can happens in the next minute as he jumps onto a big tree and drops down onto the sand and tumbles until he's on all fours. He blinks his dazed eyes in the directions of the ships and sees a stream of people descending from them, all of them curious of the island and now Kurt as they become aware of his presence.

As he stands up and spots the obvious leader of the voyage, they are all pushed aside as Puck breaks through and stops with his eyes set on Kurt. It feels like they're at a standstill as they take each other in. It's only been a week and Puck already looks different. He's clean-shaven with a new set of clothes, and Kurt's had more time to become a tad grittier,

Kurt's the first one to move because he's tired of just drifting through life. It's about time that he made his own decisions. It was his decision to pack his boat the way he did. His decision to go back to his boat. His idea to save everyone. So it'll be his choice to go to the man that had put up with him on that island.

As he starts to jog towards the group, his mind goes back to his arrival on the island. He was such a naive and closed-off guy that was looking for excitement from the world. Even though he should have been afraid, he had took control of the turn of events and had come out stronger than ever. No more was he the guy that told his dad what he wanted to hear, or let his brother talk down to him for being gay. He was now the guy that just needed something to get him to try.

And right now, he was just trying to hold onto Puck as they hugged each other as hard as they could. He was the guy that needed an escape and ultimately found a home.

The End

Originally they were pirate ships . . . no. lol. They had to have their happy ending, right? I'm kind of sad that this is over because I love the AU part, and I did a lot of research on islands and Kurt's boat, but everything must end. Onto finishing other stories and making new ones. Let me know what you think? And thank you for enjoying my story. It really does mean a lot. :)
