Fumbling - the floor - shaky - the image dark - moving up -
A man stands facing the camera. He is slight in frame, wearing a brown jacket and jeans, his hands held down in front of him, just out of frame. His face, apart from his mouth and jaw, is obscured, covered by a paper mask. The mask is white and has a cartoon drawing of a dragon on it.
"Good evening," the man speaks, his voice grave. "My name is Omega. I am the leader of the Shadow Dragons."
The camera holds on him for a moment. Shakes - ruffling noises - moves -
A new image. Omega stands to the left, his arms held as before. A woman, dressed in jeans and a shirt, sits now in the centre right of the frame. She is on a chair, her hands bound behind her, a bag over her head. The room is dark with a dull green colour.
"What is your name?" Omega asks.
The woman mumbles something, unheard.
"Speak up please."
"M-Me… Melissa…" she stammers, quiet.
"Would you consider yourself a good person Melissa?"
"I… I- Please… Please I…"
"Please answer the question."
"Y… Yes…"
"That's good. What of these people, these superhumans, who saved the world. Do you believe them to be good people?"
"I… I don't… What-what do you…"
"Speak freely. You will not be punished for what answer you give."
"I-I think they are..." Beat. "Please, God, please I have a child…!" She starts to sob.
"They are good people. You believe in them. Do you think they will save you?"
"S-save me?"
"They can sense energy. They can feel your distress. Do you believe in them?"
"I-I do… I do… God, I…"
"Then surely you believe they will come and save you?"
"Yes… Yes I do… I do believe! Please…" She sobs.
"And if you are a good person, as you say, then they would surely do so."
"Yes… Yes… I… I… oh God please… Please… Save me! Please! My son, please…!"
Omega raises his right hand. He holds a gun in it.
"Please…!"
He squeezes the trigger and a loud bang sends the bullet slapping into Melissa's head, blood exploding out the back of her skull and splattering on the wall. Her head dips forward and rests on her chest. The camera holds a moment before Omega steps to it.
"You think I am a monster," he addresses the camera. "And perhaps you are right. But I spoke the truth when I said that your heroes can sense energy. And I spoke the truth when I said they could save her. They chose not to." Beat. "If I am a monster, what does that make them, I wonder?"
The camera holds. Then it shakes and moves down - towards the ground - fumbling - black.
