My apologies about the wait, but lifeā¦can be rough.
A shorter than average brunette was on a mission. That mission included confronting one Santana Lopez about a particular gift that she'd received last night. Tightly gripping a framed picture of the shire with the words, "Home Sweet Home" in her hands, Rachel used her free hand and unlocked Casa de Lopez with the key she had conveniently made in case of emergencies like this.
With nothing but a long winded rant in mind, Rachel stormed throughout the singer's home searching everywhere for the less than funny trouble maker. Upon realizing the other girl must still be in bed, even though it was well into the morning already, that's exactly where she went.
Drawing a deep breath, she burst into the dark room not even giving a glance to the occupant(s) on the bed.
"You know, you really are a piece of work Santana Lopez. We've been friends since nearly childhood and yet you've went ahead and made such a mockery of the sacred day of my birth, which, may I remind you only comes once a year!" Rachel was pacing back and forth, had it been a cartoon there would have been steam rising from her ears.
"I specifically gave each of my closest friends a list which clearly stated the appropriate gift options on which were to be given to me. This," she held up the framed picture, still huffing and puffing while her eyes darted around the messy room, "was definitely not on the list! None of you followed the list!"
While attempting to walk around the room during her rant, Rachel had set down the picture and made it her duty to clean up the mess that Santana had left in her path to the bed, yet she still made time to fire off reasons on why Santana's gift was offensive.
"And if I may, you know very well that I am not, nor related to hobbits of any kind. So in all reality, this 'joke' you decided to play makes no sense. I have a genetic test to prove just that. Just as well as a birth certificate saying I'm born in Ohio. Where last time I checked, hobbits did not live."
During her clean up, Rachel barely gave notice to the fact that there seemed to be a vaguely familiar outfit lying upon the floor, somewhat close to the one Santana had been wearing last night alongside another group of clothing that she'd never seen Santana in.
Through the fogginess of the realm between the state of sleep and wakefulness, Santana's ears twitched as the air was filled with an annoying buzzing voice that she knew wasn't Brittany's. Although she could still feel Brittany's body pressed up against her from behind, a moment she'd love to cherish, but instead she's woken up to Rachel freaking Berry and her obnoxious voice that is still ringing through her whole house.
Brittany had been awake since the moment the door was flung open and all she could do is stiffen in shock. As soon as she felt Santana stir next to her, she felt marginally better, assuming the brunette would know what to do. Except said brunette was at a loss as well, frozen in shock.
Finally after her long winded rant, Rachel looked up while doing a double take when she noticed Brittany in bed next to Santana. The blonde's arm still wrapped around Santana's waist.
"I just knew you both would hook up soon. I could sense the sapphic charm radiating around the two of you from a mile away. I have awesome gaydar. I get it from my two gay dads, naturally." Rachel finished with a cheesy grin.
"Shut the hell up, munchkin. We were just sleeping together, as in passed out. Not whatever the hell your mind came up with." Santana spat out quickly, interrupting Rachel's monologue.
"Well I have to point out the fact that the two of you were spooning and who's to say hands didn't start to wander?"
"You and Quinn spoon all the time! I have multiple pictures." The singer retorted quickly.
Rachel nods to herself and mumbles, "Good point."
"Britt was drunk and I just didn't want her going home by herself. Trouty Mouth went back home with Aretha."
Throughout all the talking, Brittany just sits up quietly, letting everything sink in. She's surprised at how little freaked out she is that Rachel caught her spooning with Santana, which is why she'd decided to let the feisty singer do all the talking. She hurriedly tuned back into the conversation when Rachel mentioned them again.
"I for one think it's a little peculiar how you two became friends so quickly. I mean, Santana and I have been friends since high school, which I'm sure she's told to, yet she hardly ever lets me stay the night. Which is totally unfair since I am the perfect house guest and you'd never have to worry about me committing anything scandalous."
Brittany tuned the shorter girl out as soon as she started ranting about herself again, only catching the first part. The blonde finds it interesting that how she keeps hearing Santana's friends talk about how unkind the brunette is, yet Santana has been nothing but the sort to herself. She's been nice to her ever since they met, excluding the first time. Brittany was rapidly losing herself in her thoughts again, which mostly consisted of Santana, when she caught Tina's name thrown out.
"Wait, say that again." The blonde snaps her head in Rachel's direction.
Rachel looks almost annoyed that she has to repeat herself but does so without any hesitation.
"It's just that, Tina was saying last night how she never sees you anymore." Rachel shrugged, not fully grasping just how true that statement was.
Tina is right, Brittany thought to herself. The blonde hasn't really been around. She can't even remember the last time she actually had a lasting conversation with her friend. All her time has mostly been spent in Santana's company.
"Get the hell out of my room already, Barbra." Santana spits out irritably and runs a hand through her tangled hair.
Rachel turns on her heel to leave Santana's bedroom but manages to let her know she's only going into the kitchen to wait, so they can talk about the Shire picture.
Santana rolls her eyes while letting out a relieved breath as she hears her door close. Leaning over, she places a soft kiss on Brittany's shoulder. "You okay?"
Brittany looks down with her own special smile, reserved for Santana only before answering.
"Yeah, actually I am. I'm a lot better than I thought I'd be."
"I'm glad to hear that Britt." Santana smiles back, blinded by the overwhelming happiness that is utterly caused whenever she's in the dancer's presence. "I'd say good morning but waking up to Rachel Berry in your room is never a good morning."
Brittany can't help but laugh at how serious of a tone Santana's voice took while saying that. "I still think it's a good morning." She leaned over and kissed Santana tenderly before thanking her. "I feel like I should always be thanking you." She admitted shyly, ducking her head down.
"You're too cute for words." Santana can't filter her words anymore. The blonde held so much power over her and she wasn't even scared of that fact. She was happy to have Brittany in her life...and her bed.
Brittany's face lit with a faint blush. Santana had the power to turn her speechless in seconds. She knew how much she would love to just lay in bed with the brunette all day long, but there was the glaring problem that Rachel is still waiting in the kitchen.
"Maybe I'll find a way to get it out of you." Brittany smiled coyly. "But now's not a good time."
Santana sighed, running her hands through her hair as she tried to make it less of a mess. She froze momentarily when she felt the blonde's soft hands help her tame the tangled mess on her head. The singer leaned into the touch contentedly then winced once she heard Rachel start warming up her voice like she was about to start singing at any moment. That was the last straw.
"Ugh. Thanks Britt, but I have to go do some major damage control right now before she starts singing and I end up stabbing her in the neck with one of my stilettos."
Reaching over, Santana grabbed her robe and tied it tightly before giving Brittany one last final look. "Feel free to use my shower and my closet if you need." With a smile, Santana leaned down to capture Brittany's lips in a deep, satisfying kiss. Just as she was about to pull back, Brittany's hands lifted to the lapels of the singer's robe and kissed her for just a moment longer.
At the start of Don't Rain On My Parade, they both pulled away breathlessly, Santana's forehead resting against the blonde's.
"I have to go now. But come find me when you're done." And with a wink, Santana was gone leaving Brittany pouting, but she got up anyways when she heard Santana's rapid Spanish words more than likely directed at Rachel.
If she thought Santana was sexy before, hearing her speak another language made her even more so. The dancer made her way to the bathroom quickly, hoping a cold shower would calm her down enough to keep her leering at a minimum once she joined Santana and Rachel.
As soon as Brittany was done with her shower and her body temperature had gone down reasonably, she skipped over to the singer's closet and pulled on some sweats and a tank top. Hearing her phone let out a beeping noise, she danced over to it, assuming it was Tina. She'd texted her favorite Asian right before getting in the shower, asking the other girl if she had plans for lunch.
Hey Tina! We should catch a bite to eat if you're up for it. [: -Brittany
Hell yes! I've been missing my bestie. -Tina
I miss you too. Which is why I'm going to let you pick the place and time. [; -Brittany
Well if you insist...I've been wanting to try that new Bistro down the street at 4. Mike's gonna meet up with us later, if that's cool. -Tina
Sure thing! I miss my Asian Persuasion. ;P -Brittany
After Brittany dried her hair, she wandered out into the living room. Her eyes instantly went to Santana and saw that she was filing her nails as Rachel droned on about how Santana needs to stock up on more vegan foods in the event of more spontaneous visits from her vegan friend.
If Santana wasn't paying attention before, she really wasn't now. Her eyes drifted up and down Brittany's long form. From her gorgeous ocean-like blue eyes, to the sliver of skin showing off sharp hip bones and bare skin, then her long dancer legs that were covered up by her very own sweat pants.
Brittany S. Pierce was one very attractive woman. But when she was wearing the singer's clothes, she got even more gorgeous if possible, just standing there leaning causally against the wall as Rachel continued talking to Santana. Except the brunette stopped listening, only nodding her head every once in a while as she licked her lips slowly. She didn't miss the way Brittany's eyes darted down and followed the movement.
Suddenly the air got that much hotter and the Latina found herself crossing her legs and swallowing the drool that threatened to spill out of her mouth. On the other hand, Brittany bit her lip in a cat like smirk. She knew the effect she had on Santana and she loved seeing it first hand.
"Santana are you even listening?!" The diva in front of her stomped her foot and right away her gaze diverted to her. "Yeah totally." Santana lied and kept a straight face.
"Okay, so go get changed and we can head to that nice vegan restaurant that folds their napkins into origami swans."
Santana almost did a double take. What did she get herself into? Her shoulders fell and her mood changed immediately. She really hated that place, but if that's what she gets for staring at perfection, then so be it.
"Hey Britt Britt, you wanna come with us?" Santana stood, pleading with her eyes. She didn't want to be alone with Rachel. It never ended well.
Brittany bit the corner of her lip and kicked her foot against the carpeted floor. "I actually just promised Tina that I'd go get a bite with her since we need to catch up."
Santana's demeanor fell at that. She looked like Brittany just kicked her but she played it off, not wanting to make a big deal out of it. She knows Brittany has her own friends, but she can't help but want to be selfish and keep the blonde all to herself. So she offers to walk her out instead. Which the dancer readily excepted.
On the other hand, Rachel is pacing around the living room on the phone. "No no no, Kurt. A plaid bow tie is not a good gift for anyone."
Santana just shook her head at her so called friend and took Brittany by the hand, leading her out of her apartment. Now the pair were just standing there, their hands still interlocked almost as if neither wanted to let go.
"I had a lot of fun, San. Thank you." Brittany's head tilted with a smile.
Santana could feel her heart melting at the sight of Brittany's smile. "Yeah, up until the obnoxious alarm clock woke us up." She rolled her eyes.
"Well...if you think about it that way, you could make it up to me by saying yes to a date with me." Brittany's teeth captured her bottom lip as she bit down nervously. She was trying to be sly, but now she was over thinking it and hoping she didn't come off too cocky. The blonde was shyly avoiding the other girl's eyes.
Santana's eyes widened as soon as she realized Brittany just asked her out. Everything within her was shouting at her to say yes before the offer dissipated. Her body was thrumming with emotions and she couldn't decide which one to stick with. Finally, she held her hand in the air and gently cupped Brittany's chin with her fingers, bringing the dancer's gaze to hold her own.
"Brittany, I would love it if you took me out on a date" She smiled softly, her eyes darting between Brittany's. It was almost as if the blonde was staring right into her soul. "I wish you could come with Rachel and I. But I know I can't monopolize all of your time. Even though I want to be selfish and do it anyways."
With a sigh, Santana shuffled closer. Her free hand rested on the blonde's left hip. Brittany's breath was stolen from her just as Santana invaded her personal space. Locking their eyes together, both of the girls leaned in to meet in the middle with a gentle kiss.
Remembering that she was supposed to be saying goodbye to Brittany, she pulled away with a teasing smile.
"I do believe you have somewhere to be." Santana's eyes sparkled mischievously while Brittany pouted.
Her lips already missed the brunette's.
"There you are!" Rachel shouted abruptly, opening the door. Santana and Brittany quickly moved away from each other, but not fast enough because Rachel's eyes narrowed while the other two girls acted somewhat nervously. "I thought you had made an attempt to escape our lunch plans, but I'm glad I was wrong."
Heading back into Santana's house, Rachel grabbed her jacket and purse along with Santana's.
"Come on Santana, we're going to be late." Rachel threw Santana's purse over to her. The taller brunette fumbled with her purse before gaining composure. "Dammit Berry, stop rushing me." She glared. "I still need to say goodbye to Britts."
Rachel glared right back and huffed while crossing her arms. "I won't apologize for not wanting to be late."
Before the two women started going at it, Brittany was shook from her thoughts when her phone started buzzing in her hand. Looking down she realized her cab was here and waiting outside.
"Well, that's my ride. I'll see you guys later." Brittany said, her eyes never faltering from Santana's.
Santana sighed as she locked her door. She gave Brittany a small subtle wink as she whispered her goodbye to the blonde, watching the sway in her hips as she walked away. She barely heard Rachel's goodbye after hers. Once Brittany was gone, Santana followed her garden gnome like she friend.
After fast walking her way to lunch and blocking out Rachel's droning monologues on the way, she was finely seated at the table with her friends, happily devouring a garden salad. The singer barely gave notice to her friends while she repeated Brittany asking her out on a date through her head, over and over.
Suddenly, she was jolted out of her blissful thinking when she was pelted in the face with a roll.
"What the hell, Puck?!" She growled. Once she looked up, she realized the whole table was looking at her and she began to shift uncomfortably.
Puck just sat back and grinned. "So I hear you and that blonde had a good night, if you know what I mean." He wiggled his eyebrows. "Did you hit that?"
Santana paused mid bite and lowered her fork to her plate before sending a scathing glare Rachel's way. The smaller brunette cowered next to Kurt who just grinned in amusement all while Quinn watched the way things were about to play out, yet not missing the way Kurt smiled almost knowingly.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Puckerman."
"Really? Cause Rachel says that she spent the night in bed with you."
Santana groaned internally. Of course the big mouthed Barbara gossiped to their friends, why wouldn't she? Santana thought to herself in annoyance while she tried to fight off a telling blush.
"She was just drunk and didn't wanna go home alone, so I let her crash at my place. That's all. So whatever weird fantasy you've got going on in your head, best stop now." She stated clearly.
Puck knew when he was pushing his luck and decided not to press Santana for anymore information, but he knew when his lesbro was lying, she always relied on her intimidation to get her out of a messy situation.
In another part of town, Brittany was reliving the events of last night with Tina.
"I'm still awestruck at the fact that we went to a party with the Rachel Berry and Santana Lopez." Tina said to her blonde friend before noticing an almost faraway look on the pale girl's face. Tina sighed. She knew Brittany has been really busy with the show, but she can't help but miss her, even if she's right in front of her. She sensed something had changed, she just couldn't pin point what.
"Hey Britt? Where have you been lately?" Tina asked, effectively shaking Brittany out of her deep thoughts. "I just sort of feel like you've disappeared on me lately." Tina admitted.
Immediately Brittany felt bad. She wasn't trying to keep her best friend out of the loop, she's just been so focused on her feelings for Santana, and finding out what it all means to her, that she inadvertently started to ignore Tina.
"I'm so sorry, T. I didn't mean to make you feel left out." Brittany began, "I've just been spending a lot of time with Santana practicing dances and what not." She stated truthfully.
"Well, I guessed that much considering on how you both acted at the party." It wasn't said bitterly. "I think it's awesome that you're friends with Santana Lopez, I just don't want to lose my best friend title to her." Tina shrugged.
Brittany bit her lip as she pondered what to reply with. She hates keeping things from her friend. But then again, if she told Tina she could actually have someone to talk to about Santana who isn't Santana.
The dancer licked her lips as she folded her hands together tightly. "You don't need to worry about that T, cause," Brittany left off, gathering all the courage she had to finely spit out, "San is kinda...more than a best friend." She finished shyly as a rosy red color settled under her complexion. She knew she could trust her best friend, considering that Tina already knew she was bisexual, but that small shred of doubt still lingered.
Tina's mouth parted like she was about to respond but closed it right after. She was kind of shocked. Not in a bad way though, she just didn't expect for that outcome. She realized how antsy her friend was getting and quickly replied back before Brittany shredded the napkin in her hand.
"You and Santana Lopez?" Tina got out, still slightly awestruck. "So, what are you guys?"
"Right now we're just dating." Brittany responded.
Tina sensed that Brittany probably wanted more from the singer but realized her friend's reasoning. "Knowing you, I suppose you've already factored your parents into this?"
Brittany frowned. "I know they'll won't be happy. Even now that I'm an adult with a successful career, I'm still scared about what they'll think. I- I just don't want to be a constant disappointment to them."
Tina nodded consolingly.
Brittany recounted back to the phone call with her mom and everything that was said about Santana.
"You're parents have never really been supportive of your dancing, not to mention the fact of when you moved out to LA." Tina reiterated as Brittany remembered that day. The fact that her own parents didn't think she'd make it or that she could really do it.
"My point is Brittt, your parents don't know the real you. They don't know what makes you really happy because they're to busy trying to mold you into what they think you should be. You don't change for the worse. You change for the better." Tina finished, smiling consolingly at her blonde friend, hoping to cheer her up.
Brittany's lips turn up in thanks as she listened to Tina. She was right. Brittany just needed to stop worrying about what her parents are going to think, just the way she did with her dancing. At that moment, she was so grateful that she finally got to sit down and talk with her friend. She didn't know how much she needed that until she realized how much more at ease and peaceful she felt.
"Thanks, Tina. This is why you're my best friend." She grinned.
Tina laughed and shook her head. "You're damn straight. Well, you're not but you get it." She teased.
A ringtone drummed up from inside Tina's purse. As soon as the girl fished it out, a smile lit up her face.
"Mike's here."
Once they got Mike seated after the hello's, he turned to looked over at Brittany. "Hey B, are you as stoked as me to be dancing together?"
Brittany's ears perked up and she looked back at Mike, confused.
Before Brittany could get out a word, Tina chimed in. "Sorry, I forgot to mention that. You and Mike are going to be dancing together while Santana performs for the show.
Hope you all enjoyed. I don't know how frequent the updates will be, but I am going to try!
Send me some reviews! I would love ideas on how you guys would like the story to continue. Seriously. Send ideas.
