This Zac bloke is really starting to annoy Brax. What's his deal? Why does he feel the need to move in on what doesn't belong to him? First Casey, then Natalie. And now Casey tells him that Zac's plan hasn't worked, a plan that wouldn't even have been necessary if Zac hadn't hassled Casey into ratting in the first place. But now he's carrying on about another meeting and another chance to get Casey off the hook, he better come through this time. One of the more annoying things about Zac is that Casey and Natalie are justified in their liking of him. He's a good bloke, not bad looking and he seems to feel a real need to help Casey. Maybe if he actually pulls off getting Casey released from jail Brax could even like him. But as the day drags on that seems less and less likely and eventually they have to face the fact that Casey is going back inside today. It's tearing Brax apart because he knows there is a very real chance that Casey won't be coming home this time, Courtney will be out for blood. Brax has spent his entire life trying to do what's right by Casey and keeping him safe. But today feels like the day he's going to fail. The best way Brax can see for Casey to survive this is to run. It's not an easy option but at least Casey will live. But Casey won't do it and Brax loves him more for it even if he is being an idiot. So all that's left to do is say goodbye to his brother and hope to God that it's not for the last time.
But then Zac shows up at the last minute and tells them he's done it, Casey doesn't have to go back. It's a miracle, Zac has saved Casey's life. That's not something a Braxton takes lightly and is something Brax won't forget. And the best way Brax can think of to begin showing his appreciation is by shouting the other man a beer.
They celebrate at Angelo's, it's a relief to have some good news for once. It's a rare moment from them to be happy and muck around like brothers should. Tamara is here too, she deserves to be, she's been through a lot with Casey. Natalie shows up mid-celebration and joins in, no one is unwelcome today when the news is this good. Although apparently Zac thinks he would be, he's sitting alone at the bar. But Brax is so caught up in his good mood at Casey's release that he doesn't think to actually ask the bloke to join them. This celebration is his doing and he should know it wouldn't be an intrusion to share this with them. Brax is sure nothing could dampen his mood at the moment until he sees Zac get up and leave. Brax feels guilty; he should've been more considerate, more grateful. Natalie is quick to follow Zac and that should be enough to settle Brax, but it isn't. He leaves Casey and Tamara to it and follows Natalie outside. She's caught up with Zac and is talking to him. Brax hangs back, unwilling to intrude but needing to see for himself that Zac is ok. The strangest feeling comes over Brax as he watches Natalie and Zac. Its jealousy, which in itself isn't that unusual, but the direction of it sure is. Brax wants to be the one to comfort Zac. As Brax grapples with the feeling Zac drops a bombshell on Natalie; he lost his job over this. Brax is floored by Zac's admission, it's a huge deal to give up his job for Casey's sake. An unnecessary selfless act. Brax is extremely grateful, and so is Natalie apparently. She kisses Zac and Brax doesn't like that at all. It disturbs him to watch and for all the wrong reasons. Brax walks away, his mind swirling with thoughts of only one person. And that person is Zac.
