Chapter 60

Thorin's Son

I was fat! And there were times I shouted at Thorin for it.

"LOOK AT ME! I'M FAT YOU IDIOT! YOU DID THIS!"

I always apologized later though, and he always forgave me. Of course when I went into labor that was a different story entirely.

"SON OF A BITCH!"

Arwen and Dis were helping me to my bed when Thorin came running inside.

"Is it finally time?!" he asked.

Arwen nodded and Dis tried to shoo him from the room.

"Thorin don't you dare leave me here to do this alone! You get your ass over here and hold my hand!" I shouted.

He did as I said and I squeezed his hand. He stayed there with me through the entire birth and finally, Matthew, our son was born. Dis handed Thorin our son.

The smile on his face was the greatest I had ever seen. He smiled down at the tiny bundle in his arms.

"Let me see him." I said.

Thorin slowly handed me Matthew and I smiled.

"Hello Matthew." I smiled at Thorin. "Our beautiful baby boy."

I looked over at Arwen and she came forward.

"Say hello to your godson."

She smiled and gently took the baby.

"I am going to go and get the company. We have all been eagerly awaiting this day. I have a feeling they are al out in the hall."

I nodded and then Arwen handed Matthew to Dis. She smiled and rocked him, then everyone else came in and I saw my brothers and father were there too. I smiled and then Bofur came forward.

"Where is the young lad!?"

I smiled and Dis handed me my son. Thorin looked at Bilbo.

"I would like to ask you to be Matthew's godfather."

Bilbo smiled and I handed Matthew to him. He smiled and Matthew opened his eyes. Bilbo smiled and looked up.

"His father's eyes."

I smiled and took Thorin's hand. When Matthew was back in my arms I looked into his eyes. I smiled and kissed his forehead.

"My beautiful baby Matthew Oakenshield."

Thorin smiled when I gave him the last name of Oakenshield. Thorin kissed my lips and then Bilbo shooed the others away.

"I love you so much Sonya. And I love Matthew. You have given me…." He stopped and smiled. "I cannot even describe how happy I am right now. I never thought I would fall in love with a woman as beautiful and strong as you are." He looked down at Matthew. "And I never imagined if I did that she would give me a beautiful child, who will someday grow up to be a strong and brave warrior."

I groaned.

"Don't you go making my baby grow up too fast."

He chuckled and kissed Matthew's little head.

"I love you son. I love you more than anything in the world."

"Hey?! What about me?"

He laughed and looked at me.

"And I love your breath taking mother as well."

I smiled and pulled his lips to mine. Matthew started to cry and Thorin didn't seem to know what to do. I laughed.

"He's probably hungry."

Thorin's POV

I watched her lower her shirt, exposing her breast to Matthew. I smiled and sat down beside her. Gem was lying near the bottom of the bed. I had my family. I only wished….my father, mother and brother and grandfather were here to see it.

"Thorin what's wrong?"

"I wish my family were here to see this. My father, mother, grandfather and brother. I want them to meet Matthew."

She smiled and touched my face.

"One day he will. One day I will too and I look forward to it." She said.

I kissed the palm of her hand.

Over the next few days things finally seemed to be coming together. Fili and Kili loved their new cousin. They seemed to know all the ways of making him laugh. And yet there seemed to be something wrong with my son. Whenever Kili or anyone spoke to him, he looked in very different directions. I finally called upon Elrond. I explained to him my concerns and he looked at Matthew. I was sitting there with Sonya when he finally came to us.

"Your son…..he is blind." he said.

Alas dearies this is the end of this part of our story! Fear not there will be a sequal. After I finish Undying Love and Devotion, but I am already working on the sequal. I am so happy you have all enjoyed this! I hope the next one will be just as good if not better!
