Chapter Nine- Leo
Leo was really starting to hate sleeping. His mind was constantly racing with new ideas to help save his friends Percy and Annabeth from Tartarus, making it hard to sleep. Not only that, but his precious ship was constantly being attacked by Gaea's children.
As if that weren't bad enough, he was constantly having nightmares. This one tonight was about Noah. It had been a few days since he saw her off at the airport and he missed her very much. It seemed like the great demigod team was falling apart, constantly fighting over which way to go and how to fight the monsters that crossed their paths. Noah was the only stable thing going for him at the moment and he really wished she were there with him. He should have let her stay but he wanted her to be safe at school; away from Gaea's fight and away from the war at Camp Half-Blood.
She was lying on the ground, badly beaten and crying. A dark figure stood over before but Leo had definitely seen him before. It was that minor god Momus and he looked very pleased with himself. Leo was angry. Why couldn't he just leave her alone?
"It's a shame your blood wouldn't awaken Gaea. I could have put you to good use. And you're too defiant to be my wife. This will not do. This will be your fate instead." He smirked down on her and then left.
She began writhing in pain on the ground, her wounds no longer seeping blood but now oozing what looked like yellow poison. "Leo…" she moaned. "I'm sorry…" She struggled for a few more moments until she was still.
That was what Leo saw until he woke up in a cold sweat. It was a horrible feeling and he lay in his bed until the nauseous feeling began to subside. Is this the fate that Noah would face because of him? Or was it occurring now?
Once he found his strength he rose from his bed and pulled out the mirror that she had given him. He had a feeling that she wouldn't respond but he was still hopeful. His ruffled appearance greeted him first.
"Noah?" he said to the mirror. "You there?"
Instead of her face appearing, like he wished it would, the mirror shattered. The action was so quick that Leo dropped the mirror on the floor, causing the glass to scatter everywhere. The feeling of dread worsened. The mirror breaking like that couldn't be good.
Before he could do anything else, the Argo II suddenly shook violently causing him to stumble. Was the ship under attack again? He had to go on deck to make sure that his friends weren't in danger. He left the remainder of the mirror on the floor and headed upstairs, hoping that he could figure out what was going on with Noah as soon as possible. With any luck, she would be alright and out of harm's way.
He couldn't shake off the feeling that she wasn't.
