A/N: Who else was seriously pissed at the lack of Brekka kiss? I sure as hell was. So this happened.
She's like – like lightning.
Because she's Breeze and she's fast and she's bright and she's cracked open your sky and lit up your world, and you don't know how not to love her.
So you do. You just do.
Quietly.
When she runs, it's like lightning.
She speeds past you, her voice dying in the wind, and you have no idea what she says anymore but it somehow never matters.
It never matters until she runs by without stopping, until her gaze never lands on yours and her words are never directed at you and your dying I love you echoes between you both and neither of you can seem to forget it.
"I'm sorry," you say, but she never stays long enough to listen.
And your heart is heavy with the memory of her.
When she kisses you, it's like lightning.
"Breeze, I'm sorry, I can't help the way I – ," you try, but she's Brianna, and she's never been one to listen, has she?
"No, I'm sorry," she blurts. "I'm sorry that you feel that way and sorry that I don't and sorry that – that things are awkward now, and I just – I'm – "
And then there is the soft, firm push of her lips against yours, a high pitched squeak, a rush of wind, and she is gone.
And your lips tingle with the memory of her.
When she dies, it's like lightning.
She is being Breeze and being brave and she's face to face with the devil herself, and there is moment where you think, Oh my God, we might actually do this, and then the gun clicks and Gaia grins and – and –
It's the first time you've seen her in slow motion. Her eyes widen, her jaw sets in defiance, acceptance, and then there is a hole in her chest and a hole in your chest and her name is the dry, painful, scratch in your throat as you scream and –
And your chest aches with the memory of her.
She was like – like lightning.
Because she was Breeze and she was fast and she was bright and she cracked open your sky and lit up your world, and you don't know how not to love her.
So you do. You just do.
Quietly.
